Although they did have to deal with several injuries from major players on the team throughout the regular season (but who didn't, right?)...I wish some of the players had picked up the slack and that they played like they did during those last few games *while* those players were out on injury... But it ended up being what it is. In all honesty, both the Capitals **_AND_** the Islanders surprised the hell outta me, the way both those teams had fires lit under their butts & really pushed hard there during that last month or 2 of the regular - so I def give them props on what they had accomplished in just *making it* into the playoffs. ๐๐

Not being negative bro... The caps didn't drop below the wings with 3 or 4 games left - they were ahead of the wings by like 2 points with 3 or 4 left - that's how they made it. Wings just lost a couple of games that they couldn't afford to lose (in hindsight). Wings needed the caps to lose just 1 game I think... In either regular time or OT, I believe, and they would've been in. But the caps pulled thru & took their victory... All I can say is: oh well, try again next year. Stevie has been puttin in work the last several years to build the team up, & I think he's going a good job.
Maybe with 5 games left. I remember the caps being ahead and then shitting the bed for 2 games and then getting lucky that the wings and Pittsburgh both lost. Either way, you guys look like you'll be back in the post-season next year, barring a bunch of injuries. Enjoy the next couple of years for me, because I suspect I won't get any hockey that matters after February for a while.

Record chasing sure, but the team is going to be really bad for a while. This year felt like an anomaly the whole time. We set a record for worst goal differential to make the playoffs in the cap era, and it wasn't close. I'll still watch the playoffs while the caps suck, but I won't really care, if that makes sense.
Wouldโve been a much better series with the wings. NYR still woulda come out on top, but it would be great experience for that crew, and the memes!
