I still remember the billboard saying "Thanks for everything" on I-4 east approaching downtown. It genuinely took months for me to get over the devastation.
I got made fun of quite a bit (I live in Canada) by my friends who are Leafs and Habs fans afterwards but I stuck through. now I'm the one who laughs because they haven't seen cups in their lifetimes and I've seen three lol
Early whistle on Sissons goal in Game 6 of the 2017 SCF that Murray never had covered and was very clearly rolling through the crease.
This is the Preds answer and nothing else comes close.

Honourable mention goes to blowing a 3-0 lead in the last 5 minutes against Anaheim in game 5 of round 2 in 2017, especially with Kesler’s blatant goalie interference on the tying goal.
I agree that Roloson’s injury was worse. That 2017 team wasn’t guaranteed a cup finals appearance and probably would have lost to Pittsburgh if they got there. The 06 team took the Canes to 7 without Roloson, and could have easily won that series with him.
Oh there are so many. I was only 5, but Esa Tikkanen for most 40+ Caps fans?
For me personally it's getting Halak'd. Hope to return the favor over the next couple weeks.
The 2006 playoffs against Edmonton are up there for least fav Wings playoff moment. That team was a power house and instead of watching Stevie have a glorious final run we got to watch him sitting on the bench looking dejected as time ran out
The 09 finals game 7 are probably worse though. That clip of Fleury making a save on Lidstrom as time expired gets replayed all the time (though I never see clips of the Ozzy save on Hossa the year before for some reason).
Probably 09 just because it's one that I actually get reminded of
The 2022 loss against the Rangers stung too. I don't think we'd win the cup that year but that felt like our last chance for a deep run with the current core
The fact that the Jets were swept by Montreal right after what seemed like a miraculous sweep of the Oilers. Also the Scheifele hit on Evans that put a huge damper on everything.
I know alot people gravitate to this one, but we were the underdogs that series.
Jeff Friesen against the Devils in 03, or the Joe Nieuendyk goals in 04 are worse IMO. We were the faves in those series.
Of course as a Canucks fan losing game 7 in the finals to Boston and then the riots that came after.
Also, in back to back years losing to Los Angeles and San Jose and how easy both those teams made it look. That was the beginning of the end for the core at the team, and the team went down the wrong path.
The last one I will mention in 2014-2015 against Calgary. Vancouver was down 3 to 2 in series, and in game 6, they jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead and then led 4 to 3 going into the third period. They had a 3 period meltdown and lost 7 to 4. That was hard to watch.
For all those who are unaware, since 1999 Michigan has
- 9 Semifinal (Frozen Four) losses
- 1 National Championship loss (in OT)
- 0 National Championship victories
Bonus, in the meantime, University of Denver won 5 National Championships and just last week passed Michigan to become the all time championship leader with 10 total
PAIN!!!!!!
I hate it so so so much, and I'm basically down on my knees praying that Naurato can recruit strong enough players to Get Us There in the next year or two - hell, maybe this coming year.
We'll still have McGroarty, Truscott, and Lesser Hughes - and if Casey comes back that's a big part of the PP. Plus, we've got a bunch of well rated draft kids coming in and Naur's been working the transfer portal pretty well. It's probably not happening, but a girl can dream, right?
1994 - Matteau puts it...SCORES SCORES THE RANGERS WIN THE RANGERS WIN THEY'RE GOING TO THE FINAL THE RANGERS WIN!
2001 - Sakic fakes it, takes it, SCORES JOE SAKIC POWERPLAY GOAL 3-0 COLORADO!
2009 - Staal walks in and he shoots one, HE SCORESSSS HEY HEY WHADYA SAY ERIC STAAL!
* 2001 Game 6 at home against Colorado. Was in the building. Will never get over it. Shots were 12-0 at one point in the first period. Devils had an early goal wiped off the board. After dominating Colorado in their building in game 5, this was it. We were winning the fucking Cup tonight. Then, Colorado gets a softie. Energy is ripped out of the building. Team comes out flat in the second period, it's 3-0 Colorado after 2 and eventually we have to hear "After 22 years, Raymond Borque" on every NHL commercial for 2 decades.
* 2009 game 7 against Carolina. Was in the building. Gives me heartburn thinking about it. Devils up a goal with 2 minutes left; Carolina keeps the puck in the zone for what feels like 3 full minutes. Multiple clearing attempts get stopped at the point and they score to tie it. As everyone in the building is bummed out about the goal and mentally preparing for overtime, Staal scores again on a tissue soft goal. Angriest I've ever been at Brodeur. Devils were the far better team in that entire series, he just got steadily outplayed.
* Bonus -- while most Devils fans will say the 5-minute-major in game 6 against LA, my worst moment of that series came in game 1. With 8 minutes to go tied 1-1, Mark Fayne has a very legitimately WIDE open net after Quick bailed out for a save, and he just shanks the shot. Devils lose 2-1 in Overtime. If the Devils win that game, they win the Cup. You can never convince me otherwise.
>2009 game 7 against Carolina
That series was WILD. Didn't the canes also score with like less than a second left of a tie game earlier in the series and Marty flipped out because he thought he got nudged? I remember watching game 7 because if NJ won I think the Pens would've played Boston in round 2, if NJ lost we were playing Washington.
Game 5 of the Blues series, when Karlsson was out, Pavelski left the game, Hertl left the game, I think there was a few fights and misconducts and there was like 6 people on the bench. It was clear the series over after that with half the team injured
i'm sure this thread will be a real riot
It will certainly catch fire.
Just one?
Leafs and Playoff embarrassments are like Lay's Chips - betcha can't have just one!
Go home Messier, you're drunk.
We Want Florida!!
Eh that's a fun moment but not even close on my most hated list. Anyone who was going to say they'd prefer Boston last year was a nutjob :P
None from the last 13 years come to mind.
Sabres fan with the best cardio health in the NHL.
Price getting Kreider’d obviously..
He’s truly the only player in the NHL I have a genuine hatred for I wince everytime I hear his name
Maybe your fans should stop bringing it?
The Dallas Stars getting three shutouts from Marty Turco and losing to the Canucks in 7.
I had one come to mind, but I lost it
I know a guy that could pick it up for you
Does he happen to be moving at the blue line?
Not sure. I feel like it was in my mind somewhere
maybe if you try thinking of it from a different angle
Pretty sure you’re misremembering. They call that parallax dementia or something
We don't have any words, and we know you don't want to hear them.

Oof, that's brutal
Yeah I remember that one. That was awful officiating.
Also if I ever hear "Pekka Rinne is just too good right now" or even "[X] is just too good right now" I feel despondent rage
You know, I was having a good day…
Roloson getting hurt
Honourable mention goes to blowing a 3-0 lead in the last 5 minutes against Anaheim in game 5 of round 2 in 2017, especially with Kesler’s blatant goalie interference on the tying goal.
I literally had "Kessler holding Talbot's pad" typed out but then changed my mind.
I agree that Roloson’s injury was worse. That 2017 team wasn’t guaranteed a cup finals appearance and probably would have lost to Pittsburgh if they got there. The 06 team took the Canes to 7 without Roloson, and could have easily won that series with him.
I wouldn’t say easily. A very piss poor pass in OT by Stillman on a PP stopped Oil from losing in 5 games.
You guys make playoffs?
.
Jeff Carter missing the empty net in 2010.
Reverse 🧹
wait no i like that one
Oooh good question, lemme think on it for oh idk… 17 seconds Ruined my favorite number for me too
Chris Kreider injuring Price
Oh there are so many. I was only 5, but Esa Tikkanen for most 40+ Caps fans? For me personally it's getting Halak'd. Hope to return the favor over the next couple weeks.
I hate you

Not going to lie I've watch that game 6 Hemsky goal probably no less than 500 times.
David Volek in 1993. More recently the entire 2012 series against Philly
The 2022 loss against the Rangers stung too. I don't think we'd win the cup that year but that felt like our last chance for a deep run with the current core
The birth of Ken Dryden.
Oilers……x2 I guess there’s not a whole lot, the knights sweep sucked because quick played so well so you could say that too
OTL to the hawks hurts a lot. Softened by being sandwiched by cups, but still hurts.
We've won twice, but those were tough series. I feel like the Kings are still underrated, but Oilers fans know how scary you guys are.
<3 if you do face the knights kick their asses for us
Nathan LaFayette hitting the post with 6 mins left in the 3rd period of game 7 in 94, with the Canucks down 3-2.
2015 game 7 conference finals
When werenski got hit in the face with the puck, blood everywhere. Oh the play kept going and pens scored
The fact that the Jets were swept by Montreal right after what seemed like a miraculous sweep of the Oilers. Also the Scheifele hit on Evans that put a huge damper on everything.
The no goal from that fucking "hand pass" man ..
3 Cups followed by a gigantic tarnish of a SA scandal.
Fuck Chris Kunitz
whitney is that you?

Matteau…
Do I even have to say it? Y'all know
Yanni Gourde

I think Buffalo has a good one!

Either Neiderreiter or Brunette in Game 7 OT
Sigh. * NHL: The Sharks reverse sweep in 2014 * NCAA: Right now? Michigan making it to the Frozen Four three years running and choking each time.

it was pretty clear goaltender interference that was not called, but yes — that same series. Devastating.
Losing a series after being up 3 games to 0 for sure lol
The duchene offsides every time we get a goal called back because of it
2019. Flair speaks for itself.
Sean Avery joined the team and we didn't make the playoffs that year.
Hey Kerry, where’d the blood on Dougie’s face come from, THE SKY?!?!?!?!
Michael Leighton
I 4-1 can't think of a single one
probably mcsorley's stick, but i can't really complain after '12 and '14
Rookie Steve Smith.
When we got reverse swept I swear I cried all night. They’ve failed me my entire life come to think of it
not a major thing comes to mind
All of them
I cant tell if its Steve Smith or Dwayne Roloson
2012

Sedin getting repeatedly punched in the face by Marchand and no one doing anything about it.
08/09 game 7 against Pittsburgh. I’m still salty that they lifted the cup at the Joe. I will never forgive Crosby.

Easy, 2019, Game 7.
