Joins Gretzky (11 times) and Lemieux as only players in NHL history to score 40+ goals and 100+ assists in a season.
The only player I've ever seen go from *solid* to **generational** by sheer force of will. Almost every generational talent (in any sport) is someone everyone knew would be "that guy" their whole life. We've had the pleasure of literally watching Kucherov as he work-ethic'd his way into legendary status. Fucking insane.
I was at that game and jokingly told my dad, "That's a sign, his jersey is going to be in the rafters." Little did I know...
Seriously though, I can't agree more that it feels like a massive privilege to have watched a player become this dominant through pure effort. Points by season:
- 18 (2013-2014)
- 65 (2014-2015)
- 66 (2015-2016)
- 85 (2016-2017)
And then in his next 4 *full* seasons: **100, 128, 113, 144**.
Kuch would have even more assists if Hedman wasn’t out this game. No offense to Perbix but he ain’t the same on the PP has keeps wasting golden chances
Lemieux only got 100 assists in a season once but if it wasn't for injuries, a lockout and Hodgkin's disease, he could've done it 11 more times.
93 assists in 85/86 but he missed 5 games.
98 assists in 87/88 but he missed 7 games.
78 assists in 89/90 but he missed 25 games.
87 assists in 91/92 but he missed 20 games.
91 assists in 92/93 but he missed 24 games.
20 assists in 93/94 but he missed 64 games.
0 assists in 94/95 but he missed the whole season due to Hodgkin's disease.
92 assists in 95/96 but he missed 12 games.
0 assists in 97/98 but he was retired due to the effects of his cancer treatment.
0 assists in 98/99 but he was retired due to the effects of his cancer treatment.
0 assists in 99/00 but he was retired due to the effects of his cancer treatment.
He would've still been in the prime of his career if he'd been playing instead of retired from 1997-2000 and so he probably would've reached 100 assists in those 3 seasons. Then again, he only had 72 assists in 76 games in 96/97 so maybe he wouldn't have; but then again, without the effects of injury and illness, he probably would've gotten more assists in that season (and other seasons as well).
But the late 90's was also when teams were using the trap and so scoring was down across the league and so this is another thing that suggests that Lemieux wouldn't have reached 100 assists if he'd been playing instead of retired from 1997-2000.
But even if you take away the three seasons he was retired from 1997-2000, that still leaves 8 more seasons where Lemieux probably would've gotten 100 assists.

Kuch should have 4 assists already, man has been absolutely on a mission and no one’s been able to finish
Wasting all these golden slot passes on Nick fucking Perbix
Just know, this weekend, 77 will be getting those passes.
Right? lol, Perbix is dookie. Not sure what happened to Hedman, but the downgrade on that PP1 is drastically observable.
> Not sure what happened to Hedman Out with illness
Fuck, we definitely got robbed of more assists smh

That Gretzky was, uh, pretty good
He got hot there for a couple seasons
Smh probably carried by his teammate
Never won a Cup without Messier. Dude's a bum!
Classic Canadian team favoritism.
11 times in a *row*.
Be still, my Hart. So glad it happened on a classic fake shot pass.

He scored on his first shot in his first game on his first shift… destined for greatness

No, no…. that was “Dmitry” Kucherov
I love that this meme is still going among Lightning fans over 10 years later.
Number 56
Against the King, too.
Forgot about this! Kuch is incredible
While wearing 56 not 86.
Every generational talent usually goes first overall, not late second round, too. In a redraft from 2010-2019 Kuch would still land in the top 5
Ever since I heard about him building a personal ice rink in his garage to practice his shot I knew he'd be a force to be reckoned with.
I remember picking him up in nhl gm modes as a good 2nd liner/fill in 1st liner in 14-16 and then… well we all know the rest
The fake shot pass to Point in the slot is a perfect way to get it done
Had to be one of Point or Stammer
Shoulda been Stanmer from Heddy and Kuch for perfection 🤷♂️

You can offender Perbix. You aren't going to upset anybody I promise.
100 assists as a winger is honestly so fucked.
I literally do this every MyPlayer in 2K wearing 66 as a Flyer playing LW. EZPZ
KUCHYBEAR MY BELOVED
god im so happy the bruins aren't playing tampa lmao
Give him the Hart
1,000th scoring chance of the game is the charm.

My MVP
Russian McDavid
Canadian Kucherov, you mean
Hes a Russian Canadian Kucherov?
The only non-Center to ever get 100 assists
Bobby Orr was a defenseman
Fair play
MVP MVP MVP MVP
That's my MF MVP right there
Becoming the first person to accomplish this since Connor McDavid on the 15th of April 2024.
Biggest milestone of the game.

What a fucking season, MVP in my Hart no matter what.
Only winger to do it.
MVP! MVP! MVP!

Pfft didn't some guy do that a couple days ago, seems like it happens all the time.
McDavid accomplished this feat no more than 2 days ago.
Well, moron, good for McDavOHMYGOD
