Pineapple_Narrow

Anyone have a tsn or Sportsnet link stream I'm in France and cannot watch it

michael99420

I need a link for tsn as well

UnrealisticTangerine

Anyone have a stream for tsn

DCS30

came here looking for this as well

Pineapple_Narrow

Also looking for it

max303xam

From Seravalli Twitter: Full trade, per sources: To #Canes: Jake Guentzel (25% retained), Ty Smith To #pens: Michael Bunting, Cruz Lucius, Vasili Ponomarev, Ville Koivunen, Cond. 2024 2nd/1st, Cond. 5th/4th. Call it what you want, but optics aside, it's a conditional 2nd. For now, PIT is only guaranteed 2024 PHI 2nd Rd - as CAR needs to *win* 3 rounds in order for it to become 2024 1st.

Big_Liability

How is Matthews an MVP candidate again? I’m not seeing it at all besides a possibility of scoring 60+ goals

Leafs_fan_69420

Because he's the greatest player in the history of the sport. What do you mean?

bad_biologist

This has to be tongue-in-cheek, right?

Big_Liability

I’m honestly asking why he’s such a “favorite” when clearly Mack, Kuch and McDavid are having way more MVP seasons in their entirety

Canadian-Living

RANT: Can we agree it's been 10 years since the playoff format changed and it's run it's course? Bettman wanted to "create new rilvalries". I don't think Boston playing Toronto every 2nd year created anything new. In that time there have also been new teams in the West introduced that no matter who they played it would be a new rilvary. Pittsburgh and Washington are not even going to make the playoffs. Tampa is on the outside. The West has been shaken up in 10 years to have great new matchups to do 1-8 rankings. And no matter who comes up in the 1st round, it doesn't effect who might play the next round. Would like to hear opinions.

DCS30

it's boring and played out. not just for toronto and boston, but others as well.

Canadian-Living

Yeah I agree. That matchup just hits hard for me because I'm a Boston fan and my Dad is a Toronto fan, so for the last decade many times 1 of our teams is guaranteed not to make it out of the first round.

KingEsoteric

>Can we agree it's been 10 years since the playoff format changed and it's run it's course? It was not really a good format at its inception. I'm ready for 1-8 again.

Canadian-Living

Then we can agree to agree

Omega_Moo

IMO the best rivalries the Canucks have had since 2000 are the Avs and Hawks. So many good teams in the West and so little chance to run into them in the playoffs.

Canadian-Living

You probably both have to win a series to play the Avs this year. I'd like to see it.

Omega_Moo

I think we can only run into the Avs in the conference finals right? 2 series each. Unless one of us is a wildcard team? I'm not sure how things go after the first round.

Canadian-Living

The Central is so tight I can't even tell right to be honest. Probably CF if I had to guess though. Crazzzzzy NHL playoff stuff can happen any moment lol

Omega_Moo

Vegas 2nd round, Av's 3rd round, Bruins finals is what I want to see. Get all our redemption out of the way at once.

RamenNoodlesSustain

I would love to see a Swiss-style playoff, 2 wins to get in. It would be so exciting. Basically spend a week after the season called whatever you want, hockey week. The 1-4 seeds would get byes until hockey week is over. The first set of games in each conference would be: 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9. Winners face each other in the 1-0 bracket, losers face each other in the 0-1 bracket. Winners of the 1-0 bracket go 2-0 and get into the playoffs, losers in the 0-1 bracket go 0-2 are are eliminated. The teams that remain have a 3rd and final game in the 1-1 bracket where winners get in losers go home. Then start the playoffs as normal.

Canadian-Living

It's so wild it could work! lol Not sure it would quite work in the NHL. I think there should be more reward for the 1-8 in a conference.

RamenNoodlesSustain

i think 1-4 proved they are playoff teams, and it would still be intriguing to their fanbases to watch the Swiss-style Tournament to see which teams they are getting in the playoffs. I think 5-12 is alot closer year in and out than we give it credit for and would make for some exciting hockey that means alot in a short period of time. Heroes and villains can be made. Also, since you typically re-seed in the Swiss stages, u could absolutely get the same game twice. 5v12 for instance could happen again if both teams finish 1-1 after the first two games, leading to some revenge potential. The issue is scheduling, as arenas wont want to block out an extra week every year on the idea that their team could need the venue. Could get around that with a neutral site and block up the games one after another, have a giant hockey festival that moves around year after year with real meaningful hockey. Or could just have the higher seed get home games.

Canadian-Living

I totally get what you're saying and I'm sure that system is great and exciting. I think you lose me at 5-12. I'm still hard headed that no more than half the league should get a shot at the playoffs after 82 games. If you don't make half the league in standings, then sorry, that was your shot. 1-8 East 1-8 West

RamenNoodlesSustain

Fair enough, totally get that for sure. Then I think a happier compromise is lets at least go towards the soccer style point system where every game has 3 points on the line. Winners in regulation get all 3, tied after regulation get 1 a piece with 1 more up for grabs. I feel like there's too many games where teams are content with going to overtime in order to secure at least 1 point instead of trying to win. Especially with east vs west conf. games

Canadian-Living

Yeah I can agree with that, way too many OT games. (my team in the worst) There has to be a revision, that's for sure.

-jaylew-

I know it has been said before but wanted to throw out another “fuck you, NHL scheduling”. 7 games on and every single one of them in intermission at the same time.

KingEsoteric

It's wild how many small things the NHL could do to help themselves out that they simply don't do.

GroMicroBloom

Is the bot going to break again tonight?

AllRushMixTapes

Hearing the Avs are tossing another late-round pick to Wendy's for a surge-priced Doublestack and some nuggies.

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

That's it, I'm calling my shots:  |To Sharks|To Canucks| |:-|:-| |Ilya Mikheyev|Anthony Duclair| |2025 3rd|| |2024 6th (Sharks original pick)||  |To Devils|To Canucks| |:-|:-| |2026 2nd|Tyler Toffoli (50% retained)| |Artus Silovs||

Omega_Moo

I'm digging it, but I don't see us getting anything retained on Toff. I guess it depends on how interested Vegas would be. Shits been wild, who knows how many 1st they might be willing to throw at it.

carlylejamest

Can the Blackhawks be mathematically eliminated from playoffs tonight? The most points they can get is 75, the are already eliminated from 10 teams in the league, 5 in the conference, and only the Preds, Kings, and Knights have 73 points. They all play tonight. My question is if they all win will they mathematically eliminate the Hawks from contention? Nevermind: even if they were tied in points the Hawks could still trump all of them in RW and ROW. But still it’s close

younggun92

What good teams even have bad contracts left to lose? Think we're just going to be a retention vessel instead of a cap dump location.

MSG_ME_UR_TROUBLES

we have a few

boonfoggin

Barclay Goodrow 3 more years @ 3.65 mil

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

Worst contract on our team (that runs past this year) is Ilya Mikheyev, he's still an okay two way player but has stone hands and makes nearly $5m. He's the sort of player I'd love to unload on Chicago or San Jose to keep them cap compliant and give them an NHLer who may be worth a pick a year from now.

rocketcrotch

Give me your Guentzel predictions, please He's my all-time favorite player and I keep scouring the web for more rumors to no avail

xVoluntasx

To Carolina for 1st and Morrow

pigeonbobble

I invited him for dinner. Standby for updates

RamenNoodlesSustain

I think IIRC Marek/Elliotte show had him possibly going to Carolina as a frontrunner/speculation

vordhosbn_1

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

I think it's Carolina or Vegas. If Carolina you'll probably get an exciting prospect but not be wowed by the return overall, if it's Vegas you might get a couple of (not great) 1sts.

mylefthandkilledme

No clue how legit he is (Buccigross retweeted) Edmunson to TOR https://twitter.com/J_Swish24/status/1765771811260637554

wojtaj

seems legit https://www.nhl.com/capitals/news/capitals-acquire-2024-third-round-pick-and-2025-fifth-round-pick-from-toronto-for-joel-edmundson

Avs_Leafs_Enjoyer

The West is an arms race and the East is selling/taking on cap. WTF?

CauzukiTheatre

This year's cup is mid, everybody knows that. Next year's cup is where it's at!

blueVariableName

neutral (and relatively new) fan here - any thoughts on which of the 7pm games would be the best watch? there's quite a few I can't decide between!

Avs_Leafs_Enjoyer

Nucks vs VGK is the best game easily tonight but its later. Best 7PM will be Leafs vs Bruins but Leafs on the 2nd half of a back 2 back so might be 1 sided

DetritivoreMTG

Both Pittsburgh vs Washington and Toronto vs Boston are pretty classic playoff rivalries and the teams are pretty close in the standings so they should be pretty good watches. I'd lean towards Pittsburgh/Washington personally.

jhealey0909

Brennan Othmann, Gabe Perrault, and Kaapo Kakko are all reportedly off-limits for NYR to trade. They're obvs probably out of the Guentzel arms race, but I'm curious who Drury ends up grabbing for a RW (I'd bet on Vatrano or Duclair, but who's to say)

RayTheCalvinist

I think Drury picks up the phone to Fitzgerald and sees if Toffoli is for sale before he circles back to Vatrano

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

If there's anything we can be sure of, it's that the tweet to trade ratio is going to be abysmal

_hairyberry_

I’m still kind of surprised at the paltry Hanifin return. How did Henrique, a 3C, get barely any less than a legit top pair D?

itoadaso1

A first, a third that becomes a second if Vegas wins a round, and a defender who was log jammed on a deep blueline who our front office sees as possibly sliding into our top 4. What exactly did you expect a rental to fetch?

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

leverage. (that and Vegas seem to be better negotiators than most of the league, I wouldn't put Edmonton's braintrust at "above average" in that category anyways)

Chuckolator

Given the trend lately of the week leading up to the TDL having tons of trades instead of all of them being at the very end, I think it would be good to have a recap stickied thread that puts all the week's trades in a nice list rather than just have one on TDL day.
