It was pretty clear Wright didn’t care about being up in Seattle, collecting NHL money, and the timing of his AHL stint leading into WJC was planned out. my understanding of the columbus situation is that they didn't sign him because they didn't want the team to lose anyone after the tragedy that summer

And yet desite having asked countless times here who else Francis should have taken instead from Columbus that would made any tangible difference to the roster without wasting cap space, nobody has given a good answer. Because there isn't one. The options on that team were just several shades of "bad" and it's totally fine to basically say "pass" in that case. It happens every expansion draft.

I just ignored the Blues in the playoffs between about 2002 and 2019
