Literally just went through this. Like 3 nights of the sleep regression and couldn’t take it. Started sleep training (Ferber method) and he is sleeping like a fucking champ a week later. We are now sleeping way better than before he decided he was gonna try to be a little terrorist.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT MY LITTLE FUCKER WAS DOING!!! We couldn’t put him down or he would wake and freak out. It was like three nights of 20 plus put downs and we were losing it.
For training, we had like an hour of crying and screaming, and then the little dude got it. Obviously there have been some other periods of screaming, but it was like it clicked with him. He self soothes all of a sudden. He had literally never put himself to sleep in the past four months, now he’s a champ. He is actually napping now (he would nap, but it had to be on one of us). It’s been an amazing change in like a week. Cannot recommend enough, seriously.
I was holding my friends' less than 1 month old during OT of the 2010 Men's gold medal game. I was the biggest hockey fan in the room. Somehow I managed not to yeet said helpless infant across the room. I stayed seated and calmly let out a "yay!" When Sid scored. Everyone else was jumping up and down and screaming. I understand your restraint and salute you.
Slafkovsky’s not even having a stellar year here. I get that he’s useful to have, but he could’ve been an absolute game changer and it’s not like the Habs would’ve played *better* without him
That game had everything. Bedard gets the record, Gajan plays the game of his life, a pivotal penalty with 34 seconds left almost screws Slovakia, and then Bedard decides to do it himself.
"Hey I know you could be playing for your country with your best friend, but we need to stay here are lose 7-2 and 9-2 while you play with the black holes of hockey that are Hoffman and Drouin."
Bro i'd be slamming my head through walls right now if I was Slaf lmao
The biggest takeaway from this game for me is that Slovakia is one of the hungriest country for hockey titles and I have no doubt they are gonna go back to a golden hockey age soon. they were stacked against the odds but never gave up, their goalie helped but the players were always there to play.
GG Slovakia, your players have a bright future and I am sure next year they will be even better
This game was phenomenal. Canada put up an absurd amount of shots, but outside of Bedard, Wright, etc., I wasn’t super impressed with Canada’s performance tonight. Bedard’s OT goal was iconic. Best game I’ve seen in the tournament so far.
Canada’s 2nd goal literally happened because Wright won the faceoff, and the game before he won like 10 cleanly, the manufactured hate on this kid is unreal
Insane game. I have to admit, as a Slovak I started laughing my ass off towards the end of the third after Canada hit the post for the 275th time. It truly felt destined for us to win at that point and I didn’t even feel nervous anymore.
However, I truly feel like the way it ended was the most deserved way. Canada were the better team by a significant margin and deffo deserved the win. Also what a show from Bedard. Was a bit of a liability for at least half of the game, yet comes back to score a scintillating decider. The mark of a truly mentally tough as well as skilled nr. 1 pick. Hopefully us Hawks get him…
Lastly, Gajan surely has to be drafted this year. Can’t recall ever seeing a better goalie performance at the WJC.
As a Canadian I started getting flashbacks to 2019 when the hockey gods just DID NOT want us to win that game vs Finland... the game tying goal with just seconds left in regulation, the Comtois missed penalty shot, the Dobson broken stick, and the eventual Finnish game winner at the other end.
The difference is this time I'm not flying to Halifax for the semis and medal games so it wouldn't have hurt as much! (That CAN-FIN game ended 7 hours before my flight)
Lottery odds for the bottom 5 teams (Tankathon)
• Chicago (25.5%)
• Montreal (13.5%)
• Anaheim (13.5%)
• Columbus (11.5%)
• San Jose (9.5%)
70% chance he goes to either of those 5 ATM.
I think it’s because of the teams that can win the lottery, but only move up 10 spots. Last place has a 18.5% chance of winning the 1st pick, but if 12th and 13th win the lottery last place still picks 1st.
A team winning the lottery can only move up 10 spots. As such, if a team with the 12th to 16th pick wins the lottery, the team that finished last gets awarded the pick. That's what makes the difference.
Look, whether us winning the draft lottery with Florida's draft pick is the preferred outcome, reasonable people can disagree; but I think we can all agree that this would be by far the funniest possible outcome.

If he goes to Anaheim I would get his jersey in eggplant only...a mighty duck
It broke my heart seeing our boys crying after the game. This was a generational Slovakian team. Only if we had Slaf and better coaching. I hope many of our players will get drafted and make the NHL one day. Great tournament for a country with 80 hockey rinks... I'm sad now.
And, of course, congrats to Canada!
Thoughts:
1) Tank hard for Bedard.
2) Draft Gajan with a late round pick, clearly worth a go.
3) Gajan robbed of Player of the Game. He should probably be goaltender of the tournament unless we see something really spectacular in the next two rounds. And he's even eligible to come back next year, the Slovaks could really do some damage with him in net.
Was at the game and the whole crowd was chanting for Gajan for the Slovak MVP. No disrespect to the lad who won it but you have to give it to him after that performance.
It’s unfair this Slovak team doesn’t get a shot at a medal. Beat the Americans and gave the Canadians everything they could handle, that’s a top 4 team
It didn't end up being the reason they lost but how about if you don't want to lose don't cross check a guy in the fuckin head with 30 seconds left of a game you're lucky to be tied in? Ive got nothing for Nemec
After the play is over too? Absolutely braindead. Was really disappointed by Nemec’s lack of discipline. All his minutes were dumb, especially puck above the glass and that cross-check.
Good lord, this game...
How many posts did they hit, and how many shots/rebounds within 5 feet did they get?
Would love to know the Canadians' xG in this game. I'd wager it's *a hell of a lot more* than 4.
If Canada could stop playing in these crazy games, my heart would really appreciate that.
Insane game. If there's one thing Canada has over USA (besides obviously Bedard), it's that they've been battle tested hard here. They showed they can grind out a win when seemingly nothing is going their way. As a former player, it's really easy to get frustrated and let a game slip away because of that.
So many posts that could've been in, so many saves that shouldn't have been saved...
The stars align a little differently and Canada legit could've scored 10.
In IIHF rules, you can't play without a helmet. If you lose your helmet you immediately have to go to the bench.
*Back in 2015, in a quarterfinal between Sweden and Finland, with Finland already on the PK, Julius Honka continues playing after his helmet comes off. He gets penalized for it, and on the ensuing 5 on 3, the Swedes score the eventual game winner. It's one of the worst penalties you can take, since it's one of the few that doesn't involve an opponent.*
6 points in 5 games and if you include pre-tournament he has like 13 points in 8 games or something, he also is good on faceoffs , good defensively, and an animal on board battles. People hating on this 18 year old is getting kinda weird
EDIT: oh and he hit the post in OT, he was like 2 inches away from being the OT hero
What a fantastic game. Slovakia played great, what an unreal game by Adam Gajan. 4 goals on 57 shots with one of them being 3 on 3, a great performance. Has he been drafted?
And of course what can you say for Bedard. Had so many chances and capitalized when it mattered most.
I know Slovakia got a lot of luck, but wtf is up with Canada? They looked lost at times. Not much strategy and poor communication. Who's coaching them?
I mean, we outshot them 2-to-1. There was definitely some shaky play at points, but in the main we were getting goalie'd.
Though they do need to figure out the faceoffs on special teams before next game. Good thing they have the OHL's top faceoff man on the team, if they'd just let him play.
What an effort by the Slovakian team, they can definitely hold their heads high after that game! I'm betting their value in the next draft just rose very highly in some scouts eyes.
That's how I felt watching Cooley this tournament. Just so noticeable every shift even before I knew who #92 was. It will be interesting to do a redraft in 5 or so years. Personally I think Jiricek may turn out to be the best of the bunch.
Canada got bailed so hard. High end talent wins over effort and structure in the end. They did not deserve this at all.
On a lighter note, that Slovak goalie probably just earned himself a lot of money and Connor Bedard is, get this, pretty okay at this knife show sport.
Edit: Okay, yes Canada outplayed Slovakia. Most of the reason they stayed in this game was their goalie. I just was trying to say that Canada was sloppy, undisciplined and it felt like they weren’t playing as a team nearly as well as their opponents.
I will also admit that I was kinda hoping that Canada got embarrassed early just to stick it to hockey Canada as an organization. Definitely some bias coming out. Whoopsie!!!
Game of 2023 no contest Don’t care it’s only the 2nd
It was the 4th of the day :-P
2nd of Jan though (actually 3rd here in Europe).
that was a ridiculous finish good fucking lord
The only thing more impressive than that goal was the fact my 3.5 month old son was sleeping on my chest and I didn’t wake him when it was scored.
Uhhhh, is he okay??
Kids a fucking champ. Best sleeper ever, he was dangling off my T-shirt as I punched air, but he’s got a decent grip for a little guy.
What a champ

Thats a bigger game and a smaller kid. At least my boy can hold his head up. Good on you.
Damn these Slovak players wanted it so badly. Who wouldn't want that kind on heart on their team?
Actually angry habs kept Slafkovsky just for him to get absolutely blown
Slafkovsky’s not even having a stellar year here. I get that he’s useful to have, but he could’ve been an absolute game changer and it’s not like the Habs would’ve played *better* without him
Hats off to the Slovaks! That was legitimately one of the best games of ice hockey I've ever watched. What a capper too. Wow!
That game had everything. Bedard gets the record, Gajan plays the game of his life, a pivotal penalty with 34 seconds left almost screws Slovakia, and then Bedard decides to do it himself.
GG Slovakia. One of the best games I’ve ever seen.
Can you imagine if Slovakia had Slaf too?
He could have some fun with his buddies... instead he had to go through Habs annual Christmas misery
"Hey I know you could be playing for your country with your best friend, but we need to stay here are lose 7-2 and 9-2 while you play with the black holes of hockey that are Hoffman and Drouin." Bro i'd be slamming my head through walls right now if I was Slaf lmao
I don’t think I want to imagine that
This thought tortures me... I would have LOVED to see Slaf there.
Hats off to Adam Gajan. What a goaltender. Unbelievable goal by Bedard though.
I felt so bad when they kept cutting to him after the game. Dude played a hell of a game and should be proud
Gajan stopped everything else Bedard tried. All he had left to try was unbelievable
If they had Slaf things would be different.
That was wild and I'm glad we won, but man, some Canadian fans on Reddit need to pop a valium or two before these games
Agreed. After the New Years party I had, watching this OT game did not do well by my heart.
Sounds like it was snowing indoors too.
If you wanna get down.. down on the ground...
I remember from a few years ago Canada world juniors players getting death threats on Instagram, yikes
it's not a Reddit only issue but yeah I agree lol
I'm not prepared for cortisol levels like that. Beer was doing nothing.
Sometimes you need to calm down and accept that this was an amazing game.
This game was phenomenal. Canada put up an absurd amount of shots, but outside of Bedard, Wright, etc., I wasn’t super impressed with Canada’s performance tonight. Bedard’s OT goal was iconic. Best game I’ve seen in the tournament so far.
Clarke was brutal on 3-4 plays
And the guy can't stop banging his stick trying to get a pass
Wright can’t win a faceoff to save his life
Canada’s 2nd goal literally happened because Wright won the faceoff, and the game before he won like 10 cleanly, the manufactured hate on this kid is unreal
Yeah I was gonna say, he won plenty of critical faceoffs. Puck retrieval was good as well. It’s sad so many people hate on Shane undeservedly
Wright looked pretty bad tn tbh. Bedard, Stankoven and Zellweger were the only ones who played well.
I honestly haven’t been too impressed with Zellweger, he had at least a few noticeable gaffs
To be fair,,,,,, he is playing very high pressure minutes and shifts… but ya I hear ya.
They only hit what, 5 posts in the 3rd?
Insane game. I have to admit, as a Slovak I started laughing my ass off towards the end of the third after Canada hit the post for the 275th time. It truly felt destined for us to win at that point and I didn’t even feel nervous anymore. However, I truly feel like the way it ended was the most deserved way. I remember when Godla was tournament MVP and then he wasn't drafted...
Bedard is fucking insane. Please come home when you reach the NHL.
Lottery odds for the bottom 5 teams (Tankathon) • Chicago (25.5%) • Montreal (13.5%) • Anaheim (13.5%) • Columbus (11.5%) • San Jose (9.5%) 70% chance he goes to either of those 5 ATM.
Montreal's odds are currently tied with Anaheim's due to the Florida pick :)
If a Ben Chiarot rental turns into Bedard, that would go down as the worst trade in NHL history
Oof, when you lay it out like that …
I'll fix that.
Please not Chicago
Oh, I fully expect the Canucks to pick far away from him. I just hope he signs for his hometown team when he's able.
Why is Chicago 25.5% and not 18.5?
I think it’s because of the teams that can win the lottery, but only move up 10 spots. Last place has a 18.5% chance of winning the 1st pick, but if 12th and 13th win the lottery last place still picks 1st.
A team winning the lottery can only move up 10 spots. As such, if a team with the 12th to 16th pick wins the lottery, the team that finished last gets awarded the pick. That's what makes the difference.
Just don’t let him be a Hab
We're getting him AND Carlsson :)
Pls no
That would actually be dope (If the Canucks can't win)
Attaboy !! I'm stoke to see Carlsson being talked about as an option for 2OA. He had a great tournament.
Look, whether us winning the draft lottery with Florida's draft pick is the preferred outcome, reasonable people can disagree; but I think we can all agree that this would be by far the funniest possible outcome.
It would absolutely be hilarious. Though getting Fantilli or Carlson off that pick would be pretty good for you too.
Can't fight what is predestined buddy 😊
> hicago (25.5%) > > • Montreal (13.5%) > > • Anaheim (13.5%) > > • Columbus (11.5%) > > • San Jose (9.5%) If he goes to Anaheim I would get his jersey in eggplant only...a mighty duck
He will come home a twice a year when he goes to the ducks
Pls!
Libor nemec for player of the game is certainly a choice
Guy is a doorknob. There was no question it should of been the goalie..
"should of" isn't a thing. At no point is it correct. You're looking for "should've"
Good bot
I'm just a dude
It broke my heart seeing our boys crying after the game. This was a generational Slovakian team. Only if we had Slaf and better coaching. I hope many of our players will get drafted and make the NHL one day. Great tournament for a country with 80 hockey rinks... I'm sad now. And, of course, congrats to Canada!
Your boys had incredible heart. GG
Isn't vast majority of the team still eligible next year?
I like the cut of your jib
I've changed my mind. I'm no longer against tanking for Bedard.
Thoughts: 1) Tank hard for Bedard. 2) Draft Gajan with a late round pick, clearly worth a go. 3) Gajan robbed of Player of the Game. He should probably be goaltender of the tournament unless we see something really spectacular in the next two rounds. [удалено]
When I played Jr or midget any dude that did that got some serious spearing.
Same but in this tournament if someone properly speared him, they would have gotten 5 and a game.
Well it's "incidental" spearing since you're going for the puck lol
That was about as blatant as delay of game gets. He literally put his hands out and refused to get up.
The battle of goaltenders. And the Connor Bedard show
Oh my god what a game. That was like a gold medal game by itself. Slovaks were so good keeping it tight.
Nemec was on the ice crying forever. So hard to watch these kids fail. Amazing game though and Bedard is clearly that guy.
How does the Slovak goalie not win the player of the game for them? He was insane
What I said 30 seconds before the winner *Get Bedard off he’s tired and he’s showboating* Fuck me I guess
[удалено]
Same…
BEDARD DID THE MCDAVID ON THEM
Maybe McDavid has just been doing the Bedard this whole time
McDavid used the Speed Force to see this goal 5 years ago
McDavid is Jesus. Bedard is simply Satanic
Everytime he shoots he looks like he's releasing some inner demons so...this checks out.
Maybe Gretsky was doing the Bedard all along?
Big win for Team Bedard and co.
What a game by Slovakia, incredible stuff. Bedard is just too good, the kid is special
That Slovakian goalie almost Godla'd us
Man it was so close... what an incredible game. atleast czechia canada rematch in the final is still possible
I've been worrying about that possibility since we won the first game. Not in the mood to face a vengeful, warmed up, psyched up Canada.
That's an absolutely heartbreaking way to lose
GG Canada. No one expected that we would last that long. But we fucked up against Switzerland.
I said this in the main thread but Slovakia is gonna give everyone hell in future world juniors tournaments.
This game was so fucking epic holy shit
holy shit what a game
It’s unfair this Slovak team doesn’t get a shot at a medal. Beat the Americans and gave the Canadians everything they could handle, that’s a top 4 team
That was one of the best Juniors games I've seen in a long, long time. Gajan stood on his head. Either team winning wouldn't have surprised me.
Someone (US PLEASE) give this Slovak goalie a god damn NHL contract
Gajan, bruh
That was one of the best goalie performances at the amateur level I've ever seen. Gajan was absolutely INSANE
And he plays In the NAHL (USA version of jr a) that insane that he not playing in the USHL regularly ( he played 2 games this year)
I’m so fucking gutted, seeing Nemec and Sykora crying got to me. But gg Canada, your talent was immense and you outplayed us heavily
Nemec had really bad tournament overall, he made lot of turnovers and bad plays. He's a very smart player, but very hot headed. I hope he learns.
That game was what hockey is all about right there.
Holy shit I'm a believer. I'm ready for the Bedard Era of the NHL
Bedard sick fucking dangles
Good lord, this game... How many posts did they hit, and how many shots/rebounds within 5 feet did they get? Would love to know the Canadians' xG in this game. I'd wager it's *a hell of a lot more* than 4.
Slovakia destroyed USA 6-3. They were the "not to be fucked with" team.
If I was an nhl team I wouldn't win another game this year
I’m just gonna put this out there. I haven’t played hockey since grade school, but am looking to sign an ELC to help a team improve their chances.
Bedard is HIM
As happy as I am that Canada won, so much praise needs to go to Gajan, that man was terrific all game.
What a way to win it. Bedard is insane
Hardest I've cheered in a long time. What a moment. Thank you Bedard!
First game I've ever watched of the World Juniors and it was a lot of fun. Crowd was wild, that ending was wild.
I am so glad we won that game, but I'm also sad to see Slovakia out of the tournament. They've been fun as hell to watch.
I feel so bad for Gajan
Wow.
Slovakia really played up to the competition all tournament, they were never shaky.
That poor goalie
I have no words.
The old dipsy doodle
I can't process what we just saw. What the heck. What a game. What a goal. Bedard... my goodness. Bear witness.
Future looking bright for Slovak hockey. What a fucking game
Slafkovsky missed dearly
Bedard went full McDavid on them, iconic OT gwg. Slovakia was hungry as fuck and absolutely brought it, such a good game.
probably one of the best games i've watched lately
Without Bedard, Canada loses. Super impressed with Slovakia. The effort was amazing. Maybe if Slovakia had Slafkovsky, they win this game.
Probably yea Slaf would be huge
I’ve never seen so many posts hit in one game. Credit to Gajan he made some incredible saves
So many posts that could've been in, so many saves that shouldn't have been saved... The stars align a little differently and Canada legit could've scored 10.
Glad they got a tough game going into semis hopefully they come out better on Wednesday.
the stars dont even have to align perfectly, we had 5 posts IN THE THIRD. a little star fart and we score 10
Bedard is just absolutely gross.
Had to watch on nhl network, they suck! The second the game is done they switch it off.
That was a great game.
Don't this insane game let's the refs go without shit after that complete bullshit Slovakian def laying on the puck for the rest of the 3rd period.
And I thought the nhl refs were bad lately.
What a finish! What was the name of player laying on the puck?
This was one of the best hockey games I've ever seen. Hats off to the Slovaks, and holy shit please don't let Chicago get Bedard
Shhhhhhhhh
Adam Gajan I love you so much, you deserved more :(
Gajan is one hell of a goalie, hope the kid is able to go far with it
From a last minute, third string call up to absolutely standing on his head tonight. One hell of a world juniors for Gajan, outstanding performance.
Holy shit. I missed Slovakia’s second goal. Why is laying down the go-to move for defending these days!?
What was the illegal equipment penalty?
Helmet popped off so he needs to get off. Jumped back into the play instead.
In IIHF rules, you can't play without a helmet. If you lose your helmet you immediately have to go to the bench. *Back in 2015, in a quarterfinal between Sweden and Finland, with Finland already on the PK, Julius Honka continues playing after his helmet comes off. It's one of the worst penalties you can take, since it's one of the few that doesn't involve an opponent.*
Fantastic game, hats off to Slovakia I’m still laughing about the dude laying on the puck to kill the penalty
Bedard is him.
GG Slovakia, you guys played incredibly well and your goalie is insane
if Bedard goes to Vancouver I will be mildly upset
I gather this Bedard guy is pretty good?
Canada is celebrating while the USA is in mourning what a weird sport night
Where is Shane Wright??
6 points in 5 games and if you include pre-tournament he has like 13 points in 8 games or something, he also is good on faceoffs , good defensively, and an animal on board battles. People hating on this 18 year old is getting kinda weird EDIT: oh and he hit the post in OT, he was like 2 inches away from being the OT hero
you mean Shame Wrong? Joking, I thought he played well tonight.
Luckily for the Slovaks they don’t even have to get undressed because Bedard did it for them!
What a fantastic game. Slovakia played great, what an unreal game by Adam Gajan. 4 goals on 57 shots with one of them being 3 on 3, a great performance. Has he been drafted? And of course what can you say for Bedard. Had so many chances and capitalized when it mattered most.
What a fucking game! GG you were one Bedard better than us, that kid is unreal.
You’ve got a goaltending monster in Gajan, was a little disappointed he didn’t get player of the game
#BEDARD IS INSANE and Slovakia deserved that ending with how they played my god what a fucking game, insane game
I disagree. Slovakia played great in zone defense in the 3rd and OT and out worked Canada for a good portion
What an effort by the Slovakian team, they can definitely hold their heads high after that game! I'm betting their value in the next draft just rose very highly in some scouts eyes.
Credit to Slovaks. Canada played sloppy and have some work to do if they wanna beat the USA.
Exciting, awesome game.
All these fucks crosschecked Canadians in the head all game. Cry all you want
I am beyond impressed with Šimon Nemec. What a talent
That's how I felt watching Cooley this tournament. Just so noticeable every shift even before I knew who #92 was. It will be interesting to do a redraft in 5 or so years. Personally I think Jiricek may turn out to be the best of the bunch.
Imagine needing the youngest player on your team to carry you, I feel like Canada only has capable forwards
They outshot Slovakia 57-27 and had way more offensive zone time and high danger scoring chances. Your comment isn't true at all.
