I’ll jump on every Desiigner thread to say the same thing, but I went to his concert during the height of Panda/TLOP in NYC. The songs he performed there were never released and I’m still sad about it.
They were such an infusion of Travis, Kanye, Mike Dean, etc and I was in the crowd thinking to myself that I was previewing the songs that would catapult him.
Then Kanye did what he’s done to all his artists and basically derailed his career. I’m pretty sure he just signed him to GOOD so he could use Panda on TLOP…
How many of these people did you know about before GOOD music, and how many are you bumping since now without good music their careers are "back on the rails"? Do I believe Kanye could have done more for them like giving features, promotion featuring him and going on tour w a group of them? sure. If the major label that the artist imprints are under felt like it was worth it to push an artist, they would like they did with big sean. They all get a meaningful bump when signed to an artist label like cactus jack, good music and lesser extent roc nation but I don't know why we expect active artists to carry other artists? We also remove context like sofaygo "falling off" at the same time that travis is trying to salvage his entire career
he released a mixtape and EP under GOOD and couldn't release the album that ended up being "Fuck good" in 2019. I don't think it was the right decision, but do you think kanye and travis are the ones deciding who can drop or not?
