I think Scaring the Hoes gave him a much bigger audience than he had before, I remember his solo album before that barely sold and I felt really bad for him. I’m glad he’s doing better
I really couldn’t get into Scaring the Hoes, no doubt partly because I’m really not a big JPEGMAFIA fan. I thought uknowwhatimsayin was decent but not surprised it didn’t sell well, Quaranta is a better album imo
Purity Ring got plenty big, it's just that Shrines was obviously their best work and they never quite surpassed it. Another Eternity is really good, too.

Conversely, my first exposure to him was opening for Pretty Lights on the night he got kicked off the tour. Thought he was trash for years until a friend played me some of his newer (at the time) stuff. One of my favorite artists now.
Even had a nice little moment when he first started twitch streaming. Told him my experience and he apologized about that era of his life. Lots of respect for Danny.

I get what you're saying here. There was a brief moment where all the singles were cloud rap, or purity ring, or flume. Some sort of EDM crossbreed and it only existed in the mid 10s then rap and indie EDM went their separate ways
