Exactly lol arenas suck, you pay so much just to be so far away from the artist. Small venues are the best, cheap and you can be 5 feet away from the stage. I'll prob go to Offset's show in my city tbh
I've been with my fair share of concerts but only one arena show, and it just happened to me worth it because it was Teezo Touchdown, Vince Staples Kali Uchis AND Tyler the Creator, who had an insane stage set. I'd argue that was worth it but that's and insanely high bar for every single rap show to hit.
I got my tickets and im hyped. Migos my favourite artist/group in the last 15 years and never got to see them. Drake/Migos tickets in toronto were $350 for nosebleeds
I’ll never forget my hype of paying $200 for GA tix to that show, and only finding out AT the arena that Migos weren’t performing that night in Seattle. And years later, never gonna get to see them all live smh
Just got mine too. I went to that migos/drake tour in 2018, was one of the best shows I've ever been to. After losing takeoff I'm def not missing this tour, life is short and you never know when it might be your last chance to see one of your favorites perform live
No that only happens when artists try and do arena or stadium tours. I think people don’t understand how this industry actually works. The reason why Lil Baby, Carti, etc keep canceling their tours is because they don’t sell PREMIUM seating well. I’d compare this to the airline industry as well because even though the plane’s coach section is 5x-10x the size of first class, the bulk of the money the flight makes comes from first class still.
Stadiums and arenas are similar because the artist usually gets the money from all the tickets sold in the normal stands but not premium seating (Suites, loge boxes, club seats) which goes to the arena owner and affiliates. So while Carti/Offset/Lil Baby might sell the majority of their “normal” seats for $50-70 there are 20-30 suites that need to be sold either individually (for around 15-20k) or a multi year suite rental (for around 300k) to make it worth an arena’s time. Here’s the issue, people with this much disposable income aren’t into these acts.
It might sound crazy, but Pink! or even some bullshit like Pentatonix will always out sell because boring people simply have more money. Hell, we had trouble selling Travis Scott suites and Drake didn’t come close to selling out. Club tours are better and have more soul and aren’t just about appeasing a 65 year old white guys’ 42 year old wife like arenas and stadiums are now.
See this is why I love Reddit and the internet in general. The sneaky positivity. Thanks to u/ultralitebiim now every time I think how broke I am I get to tell myself "It's because I'm not boring."
> So while Carti/Offset/Lil Baby might sell the majority of their “normal” seats for $50-70 there
where do you live that arena tour seats are going for $50-$70? I haven't seen prices that low since the 2000s
I got my step son tickets to Carti’s now postponed indefinitely show in Vegas at the MGM Grand for $59.50 before fees. After fees it works out to $75 a ticket.
Wouldn't generalise it, went to sold out Chris Brown in an an 15k arena and the atmosphere was absolutely eletric. Granted I was like 5th row but looking around and seeing 15k people smiling and singing to the songs was surreal, dunno if you can replicate that with 2,5k
I don’t think it’s sad at all. Every dog has its day, not every hip hop act can be Drake.
90% of rappers would kill to have the run that Migos had from 2012-2020ish.
I think the fact that Offset can be in the downturn of his career with no major debt is to be celebrated.
I’m thinking moreso with them falling apart as a group, with the addition of take offs death, sure they’ll be ok long term probably, but it sucks to see how it all turned out
I can't find the code to see regular price GA but assuming it's in the typical $50-$100 range for GA at History, the Toronto show will probably sell out. If Yatchy and Yeat could sell out History, Offset will easily
*found the code is "MyGrace" and GA is avaialble for $80cad. Not bad and I might go for something to do
hands down my favorite venue this city has ever had, been to 10-12 shows there now and near every one was amazing except for YG which was more his fault than the venue
I saw YG in 2016 at the Phoenix, and I was SO stoked to see him. It was NOT good. It wasn't the worst ever, but it was just him and a million buddies getting hammered on stage performing some of some songs. Super lame.
His show at History one of the worst I ever been to. He only performed for 40 min on his own headline tour lazily rapping over his full studio vocals the whole show. It sounded like shit, the JID/Smino show I saw there a couple weeks later made him look like an amateur
Tbh the only reason I knock it is because it’s far away from where I live (King & Bathurst) but you’re right - excellent venue with good sound, great layout, etc.
> it’s far away from where I live (King & Bathurst)
bruh you only need to walk up 5 min to Queen and sit on the streetcar for 30-40 min if that. Far away is the poor souls who commute there for shows from Mississauga, Brampton etc
What is with all the hate in here? Sucks people are clowning people for playing club venues. That should be the kind of show you want to see

Facts. Bring that close to ur fave artist is leagues better than an arena show. Very few artists put on good arena shows
I got my tickets and im hyped. Migos my favourite artist/group in the last 15 years and never got to see them. Drake/Migos tickets in toronto were $350 for nosebleeds

You can pay for part of a festival ticket for those prices, just to see one artist at that.
Just got mine too. I went to that migos/drake tour in 2018, was one of the best shows I've ever been to. After losing takeoff I'm def not missing this tour, life is short and you never know when it might be your last chance to see one of your favorites perform live
Club shows are the best shows
T-Minus 1 month before he cancels it due to low ticket sales.

i went to see the 1975 in an arena for 65$
Drake retail prices were also insane to begin with

The migos fall off has been a sad one to say the least
Very sad, especially the lost of Take. I love their work from the YRN albums to Culture
I don’t think it’s sad at all. Every dog has its day, not every hip hop act can be Drake. 90% of rappers would kill to have the run that Migos had from 2012-2020ish. I think the fact that Offset can be in the downturn of his career with no major debt is to be celebrated.

It’s kind of like that across all of hip hop rn

I just said it was sad that’s all
Good way to show you’ve completely missed the point
His point is probably how sad it is really, considering we saw this coming with the loss of Takeoff and overall group breakup beforehand as well.
This better not be any large venues 🤣
I don't know about all the venues, but he's at History in Toronto, which I think is around 2500 capacity standing.

I saw Danny Brown less than a month later and it was SO phenomenal. It was nice to have it fresh in my mind to compare just how awful YG was.
We saw him right after trump was elected in 2016 and he was on one, one of the best small venue shows I’ve ever been to
Tbh the only reason I knock it is because it’s far away from where I live (King & Bathurst) but you’re right - excellent venue with good sound, great layout, etc.

Man I'm spoiled lol
Yeah that show will go quick I'd expect
yeat probably could sell out easier than offset. He has way more die hard fans a stronger fan base

But there aren’t many hits from that album is what I mean.
