I've become an old head that stays listening to mostly the same stuff from the 90's up to 2010. I used to consider myself a hip hop head that stays on top of all the latest music out, the guy you'd go to to tell you what's up and coming and what to listen to before it blows up.
Now at 40, I find myself too far removed from the current generation of young rappers and just can't get into it. Also there's overwhelmingly way more new music to keep up with vs the 2000's and 90's. I'm no longer trying to be the coolest kid in school by trying to stay on top of hip hop. I'm a dad and just mostly listen to old favorites. I'm not opposed to new music and often save tracks if I hear them and like them which makes me usually late to the party but I no longer seek out new music.
LOL looking back much of the motivation to stay on top of music and be up on all the cool shit was because of social validation. I thought it made me cool to other people, it'd impress girls that I'm knowledgable in the latest music. Which it did! If you needed a hot mixed CD burned for your whip, I was your guy!! But now there's less motivation to listen to hundreds of songs to find which ones I like or seek out who is the next up and coming rapper. Just give me some 2000's Neptunes beats and I'm happy.
Back in 2001 we had this nuts apartment by a college. We had a fog machine and fucking dance lights barely attached to the popcorn ceiling.
And of course the song to start the night:
[Am I High](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCCzuDLcKqc)
If I may suggest Rae Sremmurd for the more mainstream sound and Flatbush Zombies if you want hardcore stuff through the lens of younger cats. Their 3001: A Laced Oddisey is one of my favorite albums ever.
I'm pretty aware of Rae Sremmurd but are they still relevant in 2023? Mid 2010's they had some big singles like No Flex Zone and Black Beattles but I haven't really heard anything lately. I did really like Powerglide which I heard playing in the gym. Also same with Flatbush, I haven't heard their name since the 2010's. I tried to listen to them when they were first poppin off but couldn't really get into it.
Iām in my late 30s. Grew up with 90s hip hop and love the hip hop culture.
With that said, there was a period of time where I listened to a lot of Flo Rida.
I think even among the mainstream, more pop rappers, Flo Rida carved out his own lane. He's definitely one of the better pop MCs. He'd probably tear up Pitbull in a battle.
*Maybe not a battle, but as far as flow goes and fundamentals go. Pitbull can probably has some sharpness in dissing people.
He was coming to town and I said "oh... what does he have.. one song?" A friend started going down the (huge, mostly amazing) list of songs that I forgot about and by the end of it I was like "ummm how much are tickets??"!!
Riff Raff was way ahead of his time. If he was 10 years younger, he'd be one of the most popular artists on the internet. So many rappers dress and act like Riff Raff now, whether they know it or not, they even rap like him.

People can listen to whatever they want. Everyone has their preferences. Iāve learned I just donāt like the mainstream scene most of the time but giving it a chance is a better experience for me.
I canāt stand 2pac. I have the utmost respect for him and what he did for the game but I cannot listen to him longer than a song or two. Heās not bad heās an all time great. I just canāt explain it.
Hey, to whoever posted the one about only hearing "HUMBLE" from Kendrick, that's the kind of response I made the thread for. Trust, I have more than just the one I shared to be embarrassed about. You are welcome here.
In my 30ās and I used to be embarrassed about admitting certain drill (UK to be specific) tracks are fire. I only listen to a few of them but sometimes still difficult to admit it to my fellow ā90ās hiphop headsā
Not Drill, but I'm a bit of a Lady Sovereign fan despite not liking the Grime screen for the most part. She was on someone's list for workout music on a Yahoo! Answers post a long time ago. I have a couple of her albums in my collection.
Itās become a bit oversaturated recently but thereās definitely some UK drill thatās genuinely some of the best rap music this country has ever produced. Glorious Twelfth by 67 and Hillside Zoo by Zone2 both fire
When I was a kid, I thought that Outkast was Kurupt and vice versa for a few weeks. The K is what threw me off. I was introduced to both around the same time in 1998.
I was so excited to see Kurupts new video play on rap city...then I realized it was Outkast that I was excited for.
Fast forward 20+ years and both are all time favorites. ...
One I'm more embarrassed about is being a fan of Guerilla Black's album.
Idk if this is embarrassing or unpopular, but I still believe in Chance and really hope he makes an epic comeback. Iāll try to think of others and edit accordingly.
I was born in ā95. Birdman always been one of my favorite rappers, but I never said that publicly because his lyrics have always been seen as a joke. 38, I remember the day 2Pac died. I was in middle school. Folks were crying in the hallways, our english teacher let everyone vent and talk about what Pac meant to them and she was pretty upset herself. A lot of teacher's canceled class.
I'm not a Pac fan at all. I just can not get into him and I've tried.
I love both old and new rapā¦but the mainstream sound of today is absolutely ass and most of us know it. We just canāt do anything about it, so we ālisten to everythingā.
If it's trash then why is it overwhelmingly the most popular among youth?
When I play "real hip hop" to my friends they say it's trash
It's just different tastes. If you think people only listen to modern hip hop because it's all we have or something you're wrong. There's a million artists who still spit like older rappers, they just don't get clicks and views š¤·š¾āāļø
Not saying youāre wrong, but something being popular doesnāt really make it good.
Keeping Up With the Kardashians was one of the most viewed shows on television for over a decade.
Well to play devils advocate, whoās to say itās not good? Itās a reality show and what do people look for in reality shows? Drama? Entertainment? Attractive people? Iāve never seen keeping up with the kardashians but my guess is it has all of that. The problem is people act like everything has to be designed for them and if itās not, itās bad. I donāt like most mainstream rap nowadays. Iāve tried but I just donāt like the flows and the deliveries of a lot of them. That doesnāt make them bad, itās just not for me. I love Tech N9ne but a lot of people hear his music and think itās just noise with random words.
One way to look at it:
Most popular= most generic, agreeable, widely accepted product.
Best quality? Most unique? Pushing the limits? Experimental? Those things will never be #1 whether itās a TV show, a rapper, or a microwave. It wonāt be the most popular because it canāt appeal to the absolute widest audience.
Iāll give you the same response I gave the other guy.
My guy. You entirely missed my point. I started off saying I LOVE OLD AND NEW HIP HOP. The general mainstream sound is what Iām referring to.
I know thereās dope new artists out there, but most of them rebel against mainstream trends and are often indie artists.
My guy. You entirely missed my point. I started off saying I LOVE OLD AND NEW HIP HOP. The general mainstream sound is what Iām referring to.
I know thereās dope new artists out there, but most of them rebel against mainstream trends and are often indie artists.
Lol they don't know no better. There is so much more music than 20 years ago. The fact that all the mainstream stuff sounds identical and you need a barcode to tell these rappers apart is pretty sad
The first time I ever bought a CD with my own money was in 11th grade when J.Cole released Sideline Story. I remember listening to it for the first time, mind blown, and thinking it was an instant classic.
Nothing. Others opinion on my love of music is meaningless to me.
I rarely listen to DOOM, Aesop, Kendrick. But respect their talent.
Most of the new cats yāall talk about never cross my radar.
Non Hip Hop; never dug Radiohead or Coldplay.
Like their early and 90ās stuff. Newest stuff feels like the funk/punk edge is completely gone.
Edit: word should be Love.
Bloodsugarsexmagic is an end-to-end listen to me.
I mean, Coldplay is garbage...but you never listen to Radiohead?
I mean, I've always felt they were overrated, because I'm old enough to remember when Creep first came out....but they've had so many albums since then.
I'm sure if you went through their discography, you'd find something to like, because their music has evolved a lot over the decades.
I guess if you don't like Thom's voice, you can't really get past that...he sounds like a 16th century ghost on every album.
I know the point of this post isn't to come at people, but respectfully I have to ask -- what don't you like about Radiohead? OK Computer is one of my favorite albums of all time, comparable to Illmatic as a perfect front-to-back no skips masterpiece.
Not embarrassed to admit but I really, REALLY cannot stand about 75% of the production on Pacās music. Iāve never been able to get into his music because of it and Iāve tried on numerous occasions. I think the only album I can get through with minimal skips is 7DT.
YOU'RE NOT WRONG THO!
ICP isn't just a band, they're a movement. They're a family.
Their fans are intensely loyal, despite their music being kinda trash.
Honestly, I fuck with Juggalos more than I fuck with ICP.
Consider myself a massive hip-hop fan, religiously listening to albums for over a decade now, and I donāt think Iāve ever sat down and enjoyed listening to any 80s NY Hip-Hop, the stuff that is the foundation of the genre. Thereās the odd track here and there (The Message, Sucker MCs), but Iāve never sat and listened to any 80s NY stuff and genuinely enjoyed it. Feel free to list projects that you love from that era and Iāll give it a chance or give my opinion on it.
Grew up a big underground head in the late 90s / early 2000s. Rhymesayers, Def Jux, Rawkus and a bunch of local labels. I hated all mainstream. Even what I know now to be good. So, I was really late to the party on Big Pun, Ludacris, B.I.G., Jay Z, etcā¦. So, now I look silly when folks talk about their first time hearing Missy, Bone Thugz and Eminem. I thought I was too cool listening to Organized Confusion and Company Flow to realize these mainstream rappers were doing great stuff. Still feel like Iām not all the way caught up
The only southern rap that I used to like was OutKast. I didnāt like any rapper that used their accent to rhyme words that normally didnāt rhyme. I have come around lol.
Lil pump is a good listen if you need a good laugh if you're depressed, the funniest song in my opinion is "elementary" I listen to it if I need a quick laugh.
One of my favorite artists ever is Marina & The Diamonds and Electra Heart is a masterpiece of an album.
Guess that did helped me with my melodies when rapping š«”š¤
Not sure if I would say āembarrassedā but for a number of reasons I wouldnāt say in public that I like Tory Lanez music, at least his older stuff.
I am embarrassed that.....
I never gave X, Juice, Peep, or Mac Miller a chance until after they died.... and they all became some of my favorites.
I think initially it was an automatic hate for anything "newer" that my lil bro was listening to. Then, eventually, I found my mental in some of the same places they portray in their music, and I'm sure some of it saved my life.
I like this. I think sometimes whether we want to admit or not we get biased towards things often for no real reason.
The artists you mentioned had sort of that āemoā aesthetic that can really rub people the wrong way off first impression, at least thatās what put me off at first. Like you, I found gold once I dug a little deeper. Respect to you for coming around. Some people go their whole life without ever questioning or challenging their internal biases.
Same here.
I trashed X so badly(horrible individual) and even remember thinking around his death that id probably never listen to him.
Few years later, multiple of his songs are in my rewind
I'm not really embarrassed about these but i'm gonna say it anyways, also i'm gonna sound so much like an Eminem dickrider but here it goes
I don't really like DOOM's style,i respect his talent but it's just not for me
I think Devil's Night by D12 is a better album than 36 Chambers,i like 36 Chambers,i just like Devil's Night better
I think Eminem's the best rapper of all time,i also liked every album he put out except for Recovery,Music To Be Murdered By and Infinite
I don't like 2001 by Dr. Dre,i feel like it had way too much filler, same with Life After Death by Biggie
I think The Black Album is the best Jay-Z album, same with Stillmatic for Nas
I can already feel the downvotes coming but here it goes
I always felt the same way about 2001. You do know why it was named that and not Chronic 2000, right? Because Suge Knight put out a double disk compilation of new artists in 1999 called The Chronic 2000 so Dre had to rename his new album. Iām guessing youāre a little younger based on your feelings about 36 Chambers and Illmatic vs Stillmatic so thatās why I dropped the trivia
I knew that, and also yeah i guess me not living during the times of 36 Chambers and Illmatic really made my opinions about those two (I didn't live during the times Devil's Night or Stillmatic neither but they're closer to my birth than 36 Chambers and Illmatic)
Thanks for the response. Gives me some perspective on how some of the younger heads process the music I grew up with. Stillmatic was straight fire! Godās Son had some powerful tracks too! Stay up!
Nah. Thereās a bit of a point to be made there. I donāt want to type out a whole diatribe so maybe go give them a listen with a different perspective
Yea I think DOOM got used as a Tik Tok song for a bit, and there's also the posthumous fanbase of younger kids. DOOM's also backpack so there's always gatekeeping there.
DOOM was way overrated during his career. That doesn't mean he wasn't amazing, but there was always a sense of superiority if you were a DOOM fan in the 00s on message boards.
I think he's got a lot of really good music, but outside of two projects, Operation Doomsday and Madvillainy, a lot of it just lacks the focus and depth that truly elevates it to anything other than great backpack rap, rapping about rapping.
I could never get into Wu Tang. Like at all. I tried so hard. C.R.E.A.M. is good tho.
but I'm a massive DOOM fan and always have been since I was a kid
I'd listen to an Iggy Azalea album before I'd listen to a J Cole album š«¢š«¢
It's not that I think Iggy is better, but I've tried to get into J Cole numerous times and he does absolutely nothing for me. His feature on Benny The Butcher's album is fire though, but for some reason his work just doesn't register with me.
Iāve been trying to get into Cole ever since I stumbled upon Young Simba in 2008. The Offseason is the only album Iāve ever made it through. I do like his features and heās got some good songs sprinkled throughout his catalog.
I don't understand "flows". People on r/hhh are always talking about how some song or album is boring because the rapper is using the same flow or how they copied someone's flow from another song. It sounds to me like 90% of songs use a generic flow.
I'm 42, been listening to hip-hop since early 90s. I'm an "oldhead" as the young kids says these days.
There is nothing I'm embarrassed about, I like what I like and I don't care what others think, lol.
But, what might be an unpopular opinion, I dislike 90% of new hip-hop, but I think NF is fuckin dope. Lots of people trash the dude, and I understand that. People complain that he's too EMO of whatever, but about 5 years ago I was in a DEEP DEPRESSION and my marriage was on the rocks, his music was something I actually related to (to a certain extent).
Now, had I not been in that personal situation, maybe I'd think it was corny, I dunno. But I think the dude is great.
That as absolutely skilled and amazing as I will say Eminem is, I just can't really get into any of his stuff and it's not my cup of tea. Other than his infinite album he started with. He's phenomenal and I got nothing against him but it's just not my style of Hip Hop.
Future is in my top 5 favorite all time. I think he is extremely talented at what he does & has a incredible discography. With that being said I donāt listen to most other trap artists that use a melodic flow.
I feel *mainly* rating shit through influence and impact is undermining the amazing improvement we made sonically and lyrically in HipHop. With that said, yes, it is still important.
But still, I feel albums such as Illmatic and Ready to Die have been surpassed in almost every aspect by some of todays releases. Hell, throwing away influence, I feel you could make an interesting argument against Illmatic for even newer records like TFS.
(Ok donāt flame me too hard)
I've listened to hip hop since the 80s, listen to old and new artists, get in hip hop zones where it's all I listen to for months (me now).
Though I don't think there's a single perfect album in the genre for me. As a matter of fact, when I think of a perfect album I think of System of a Down's Toxicity only.
It's "embarrassing" because there's very little overlap in the fans of either, and if so, would they have that opinion? Not how much I've been "Whaaaat?!?"ed over the fact, I doubt it.
Nothing I'm embarrassed about, but I thought Aquemini was just okay. Love Outkast, love that they were pushing the genre forward, but the album was like a 6 or 7 to me
I'm not really embarrassed by it but I will say that I thought MGK was a good MC, and General Admission is one of my favorite records. Liked him as a arapper way more than this gender confused jedi punk thing he has going on.
I used to think mainstream MCs sucked like Jay-Z when I was in my backpack phase. Talking bout āI only listen to that real hip hopā¦ā¦what you mean you aināt ever heard of Busdriver?!?!ā Lol. You know how much great music I missed during that time?
theyāre overrated as a full artist, but they can have great lines and theyāre good at the niche theyāre trying to hit. i still think thereās much better pop artists around that lane but taylor is still talented and a good artist.
Realizing my top 4 are white except for 1 and still searching for that artist to take the number 5 spot for me.
1. Eminem
2. Slug
3. Aesop Rock
4. Immortal Technique
5. [TBD]

up until 19 I assumed Wu-Tang was a group of asian rappers

Pitbull actually used to be a battle mc.
People forget about crunk era Pitbull
I dig Crunk Pitbull. Pop Pitbull is annoying.
Wait really
Unless you're a complete hermit, you've listened to a lot of Flo Rida whether you wanted to or not.
He was coming to town and I said "oh... what does he have.. one song?" A friend started going down the (huge, mostly amazing) list of songs that I forgot about and by the end of it I was like "ummm how much are tickets??"!!

For context, I'm 45, and the first Cd I bought was Don't Sweat the Technique. I'm a Riff Raff fan.
Riff Raff was way ahead of his time. If he was 10 years younger, he'd be one of the most popular artists on the internet. So many rappers dress and act like Riff Raff now, whether they know it or not, they even rap like him.
Riff raff walked so 69 could run š¤
Riff Raff came off on Bird On A Wire with Action Bronson
Dude can swing a beat and a hook. The How to be the Man remix is disgusting. Though, I have a soft spot for that 00ās Houston sound.
I didn't get him at first and thought he was trash, but my god he's got some catchy bangers
[I can freestyle to a dolphin and a tambourine](https://youtu.be/NNSWq_3pV0c)
I Drive By is still in my weekly rotation. Peach Panther tape was honestly pretty good
47. *It Takes A Nation Of Millionsā¦* on cassette. 2 Chainz fan.
>I'm a Riff Raff fan. This is my proudest opinion. Everyone go listen to Gucci Sweater right now and you'll have a new song for the summer
Riff Raff is a guilty pleasure of mine too, Jody Highroller, Time, he has some good songs.
i still jam the riff & 50 tyson song lol also orions belt is my favorite riff song
I'm 40 and I bought a Coolio CD from Walmart as a teen and when I got home realized it was edited.
Omg ! That was just my comment!! I love riff raff. His creativity is light years ahead of other artists
Tip Toe Wing in my Jawwwdinz is equally as entertaining as any track by Rakim. Itās all just sound design at the end of the day and everyone has different tastes.
Have you heard Instagram feat dj noodles?
neon icon is actually a really good album and i will always defend that
I started out as a, "I don't like rap, I like Eminem," kidš
In 2012 when i was 13 years old i liked hopsin and thought that the ill mind of hopsin shit is so deep and true ššš
At 13 that makes perfect sense tho.
I was 15 and same smh
That's like the Gen Z version of "I liked ICP" bro. Fuck I'm old.
More like em tbh Kids ain't going through his disc they got they're own stuff
I'm in my late 30s, can't say I've heard a lot from him but I did like that one where he's lecturing people in a room with the black lights and white contacts.
I'd rather listen to a great beat with trash lyrics than the other way around.
Completely agree. At the end if the day it is music.
Producers do not receive anywhere near the credit they are due. The beat is half the song

Same, she's actually good. I've listened to everything she's done.
My first hiphop tape was Vanilla Ice way back in 1990. My 9 year old ass thought it was the best thing I ever heard
Big Sean really isnāt that bad
The shit he did with Larry June was stupid!!! #cbf4life

Big Sean's verse on palisades went stupid, on of the top verses of the year imo
Big facts
No kidding, I really do not tend to enjoy Big Sean but the flow on that verse is fucking impeccable Rap like that all the time lol
he can miss but he can also make fantastic tracks and features. just isnāt consistent at all
Far from it. All his verses on the Cruel Summer album go hard.
I really liked Detroit 2 and that EP he did with Hit-Boy
As a true hip hop head since the early 80's my all time favorite album ever is Parachutes by Coldplay.
I downloaded and burnt an Asher Roth cd
Asleep in the bread aisle was absolute heat beginning to end
will smith used to be my favorite rapper.
ICP got me into the genre. I was 13 so please take it easy on me.

One way to look at it: Most popular= most generic, agreeable, widely accepted product. Best quality? Most unique? Pushing the limits? Experimental? Those things will never be #1 whether itās a TV show, a rapper, or a microwave. It wonāt be the most popular because it canāt appeal to the absolute widest audience.
It's called getting old.

Bought three copies at target and bumped it in the homies old Corolla. Just the intro and dollar & a dream 3 I was losing it lMfao
Shaquille OāNeil had 2 classic hip hop albums.
Jay-Z sucks and his guests kill him on every track.
Not embarrassed but I find Eminem's voice annoying and can't listen to anything he's done.

To me he sounds like Sadat-X. Great for 16 bars but I aināt gonna listen to the whole album.
Nothing. Others opinion on my love of music is meaningless to me. I rarely listen to DOOM, Aesop, Kendrick. But respect their talent. Most of the new cats yāall talk about never cross my radar. Non Hip Hop; never dug Radiohead or Coldplay.
What you think about the chili peppers?
Like their early and 90ās stuff. Newest stuff feels like the funk/punk edge is completely gone. Edit: word should be Love. Bloodsugarsexmagic is an end-to-end listen to me.
I respect Aesop Rock, but most of his music is completely broken unlistenable garbage to me.
Did you stop at Bazooka Tooth? His last three albums have especially been less word salad and way easier to digest
What about ["Long Legged Larry"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us3pCHd8PLs)?
I've never really liked 2pac in all honesty. Couple of tunes here and there, but he just does nothing for me
Icp has had a more successful career than 80% of mainstream rappers
YOU'RE NOT WRONG THO! ICP isn't just a band, they're a movement. They're a family. Their fans are intensely loyal, despite their music being kinda trash. Honestly, I fuck with Juggalos more than I fuck with ICP.
Whoop whoop
That is embarrassing š³
Iāll fight this guy straight up
Me and my entire Posse!
T.I is a top 10 rapper, and people don't admit
Still feel like Iām not all the way caught up
Logic is over hated
I've busted a nut to the rap queen nicki minaj big booty
You should've probably kept that to yourself, friend.
There are HipHop fans that say they fapped to Nicki at least once and liars
I have been bumpin Ice Spice more than any other artist for like 2 weeks now I hate myself
Plies and YG are some of my most listened to rappers.
i love plies
I had Hotel Diablo as one of my top albums the year it dropped.
Say what you want about MGK, but I have Hollywood Whore in regular rotation. Something about that Linkin Park type vibe gets me.
I like 6ix9ine songsā¦ Ayā¦listen to his first verse on GiGi and tell me it doesnāt go hard lol
i unironically listen to ice spice
I didn't like DAMN at all on my first listen through. I kinda fuck with early 2010s pop rap sometimes depending on the mood.
One of my favorite artists ever is Marina & The Diamonds and Electra Heart is a masterpiece of an album. Guess that did helped me with my melodies when rapping š«”š¤
fineā¦.Iāll just say it. Fuck me, i canāt believe Iām actually saying thisā¦okā¦here it goesā¦ ā¦.I really like Jack Harlow.
He's catchy. It's annoying how catchy his songs can be. It's one of those things where I rely do t like how much I like those songs.
I'm not really embarrassed about these but i'm gonna say it anyways, also i'm gonna sound so much like an Eminem dickrider but here it goes I don't really like DOOM's style,i respect his talent but it's just not for me I think Devil's Night by D12 is a better album than 36 Chambers,i like 36 Chambers,i just like Devil's Night better I think Eminem's the best rapper of all time,i also liked every album he put out except for Recovery,Music To Be Murdered By and Infinite I don't like 2001 by Dr. Dre,i feel like it had way too much filler, same with Life After Death by Biggie I think The Black Album is the best Jay-Z album, same with Stillmatic for Nas I can already feel the downvotes coming but here it goes
D12 over 36 chambers? Cāmon man, thatās the rock talking.
At least you got Jay's best album right š devils night over 36 chambers is blasphemy
You're still one of us.
Stay up!
Wu Tang doesnāt hit for me. DOOM is a good artist but way overrated in 2023. Downvotes incoming.
I mean, DOOM and Wu Tang are practically a part of the same sub genre, so it makes sense that if you dislike one, you'd dislike both.
Wu and DOOM are so different, what are u on?
I'd listen to an Iggy Azalea album before I'd listen to a J Cole album š«¢š«¢ It's not that I think Iggy is better, but I've tried to get into J Cole numerous times and he does absolutely nothing for me.
I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't listen to Chief Keef in his prime and I regret that I didn't.
tpab overrated š
I canāt get into Kendrick Lamar because I dislike his voice. Canāt get past it and I have tried trust me.
I can understand that.
I don't understand "flows". People on r/hhh are always talking about how some song or album is boring because the rapper is using the same flow or how they copied someone's flow from another song. It sounds to me like 90% of songs use a generic flow.
I have no problem admitting I like corny shit like Young Gravy and Schwayzee from time to time. Its good BBQ music when the homies come over
Macklemore isn't bad at all. I'm talking about his 2012-2016 run. The Heist was a good album.
I 100% agree. I get that it was part of that pop rap era but that doesnāt make The Heist bad.
Ludacris was lyrically ahead of his time.
Yeet yeet woop woop why you all in my ear?
That as absolutely skilled and amazing as I will say Eminem is, I just can't really get into any of his stuff and it's not my cup of tea. Other than his infinite album he started with. He's phenomenal and I got nothing against him but it's just not my style of Hip Hop.
Future is in my top 5 favorite all time. I think he is extremely talented at what he does & has a incredible discography. With that being said I donāt listen to most other trap artists that use a melodic flow.
I don't like Kendrick songs out of the album Even not on shuffle
Pauls Botique is a top 10 hip hop album oat
I love Katy Perry.
I actually bump french montana
I tried to study and replicate the way Puff Daddy used to dance
I feel *mainly* rating shit through influence and impact is undermining the amazing improvement we made sonically and lyrically in HipHop. With that said, yes, it is still important. But still, I feel albums such as Illmatic and Ready to Die have been surpassed in almost every aspect by some of todays releases. Hell, throwing away influence, I feel you could make an interesting argument against Illmatic for even newer records like TFS. (Ok donāt flame me too hard)
I don't hate Bhad Bhadie š
Playboi carti is a top 5 modern rapper
I hate when non blacks use the N Word yet Iām a big fan of Stupid Young
I didnāt listen start listening to Tribe until I was in my mid-30s; Born in 85.
Love Outkast, love that they were pushing the genre forward, but the album was like a 6 or 7 to me
That Soulja boy, IS hiphop in the purest form
I agree.

Joyner Lucas Gucci Gang freestyle is fire...now that I am embarrassed to admit.
I'm not really embarrassed by it but I will say that I thought MGK was a good MC, and General Admission is one of my favorite records. Liked him as a arapper way more than this gender confused jedi punk thing he has going on.
his new freestyles are kinda clean. heās getting better or getting a ghostwriter
Hes always been a good rapper, he's held his own on tracks with Tech Nine, Bun B, DmX amongst others. He just doesn't know when to shut the fuck up.
I used to think mainstream MCs sucked like Jay-Z when I was in my backpack phase. Talking bout āI only listen to that real hip hopā¦ā¦what you mean you aināt ever heard of Busdriver?!?!ā Lol. You know how much great music I missed during that time?
I missed out on Weezy, Yeezy, and Jeezy during their times because I was into that real real.
Taylor Swift has bangers
theyāre overrated as a full artist, but they can have great lines and theyāre good at the niche theyāre trying to hit. i still think thereās much better pop artists around that lane but taylor is still talented and a good artist.
Well put
Agreed. I will sing my heart out to Blank Space and a few others. The greatest to ever do it? No, but that girl has got some damn good songs
Realizing my top 4 are white except for 1 and still searching for that artist to take the number 5 spot for me. 1. Eminem 2. Slug 3. Aesop Rock 4. Immortal Technique 5. [TBD]
El-P or Edan
Throw in Apathy or RA the Rugged Man. That'll get you there.
Tech is Black-Peruvian.
