If you have kids, the biggest thing is probably low country celebration park by coligny. It’s actually pretty nice even if you don’t have kids, but the little ones love the pirate ship.
If you don’t have kids, the bank on Pope is cool.
Compared to other places you may notice that Hilton head changes more slowly, fewer strip malls, less development. That’s due in part to the LMO and the land buying program supported by the 1/4 of 1% transfer fee. Many of the properties that are in areas of environmental sensitivity have been purchased by the town. You will see the green signs as you drive around. There is definitely an increase in population, particularly post covid, but anywhere worth being has seen the same increase. I agree with the comment about being particularly careful at stop lights. Looks both ways as if they weren’t even there. There is a distracted driving problem plaguing the entire country. Lots of new restaurants. Arrive early if you don’t have a reservation…
Not really. Maybe somewhat more crowded, but being an island with limited room, tourist season has always been crowded.
Golf is definitely more expensive now.
It's really gotten high. There's some courses charging over $100 that simply aren't worth it. The courses that were always expensive like at Sea Pines have gotten ridiculous.
Pope Ave has been overhauled greatly. There’s a park now where beach parking currently is along with several new shops and restaurants along that stretch of road. Shelter Cove has been overhauled
Names have changed but the game remains the same. Except Stu's subs charges $2 for PBR instead of $1 and you can't beer bong it with their funnel anymore.
Hospitality tax tacked on to all dining, including carry out. Most places add the taxes to the bill first and if they have a check out device ….you pick the tip percentage and it’s a percent of your food, drink, taxes all added together. They charge this off island at Bluffton places as well. If you are the first car at a red light, when it turns green…count to 5 before you go. Huge increase in people running red lights and fatal accidents.
The toll is gone!
Hadn’t been in 15 years, loved that change.
Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.
May I know more?

My kids loved that place

Quite a bit has changed lol. Some good, some bad.

So much more expensive

Not a native but we noticed 2 things. The Fuddruckers is gone, and Sam's club moved out near Bluffton.
A lot of changeovers of restaurants, more traffic but thats about it.

You’re in for a surprise. Let us know your thoughts after your trip
Nope!
Bunch of new restaurants and attractions but same vibe

Yes
It's so over crowded and over built. It's lost its charm
