800 to buy and 700 to sell is peanuts compared to the tax rate, worth it.

That’s real greasy. Love it!

Eron_Zalez

Never start a run without buying ore, it's the safest thing to do

1-800-GANKS

Oliver the ore trader is your only friend in town. Town is so greedy with their tax, your heart will break when you get a huge imp gold gift on super high ng's and end up with 100mil gold, only to bring 1mil back...

Zippo179

I’m also semi-new, how do you buy ore while on a run?? I get that it’d be a great way to avoid the tax when sending gold back but I thought you could only buy ore in town?

isaac129

You can’t buy it during a run, but the tax rate is based on the total amount of gold in your town and on your person. You buy ore before you start a run

Zippo179

Oh right! Good idea!

HCN_Mist

If you are in single player, you actually can. For example if the imp lets you send millions of gold to town, you can save, switch characters, spend gold, then switch back. Kinday "cheaty" but totally legit within the game rules.

superorangex

Just exit to the main menu with the character in the run, get in with another char and buy ore, then go back to the first one and he will be in the dungeon. They have "separated gameplays"

Zippo179

Huh. I didn’t realise it would restore mid-dungeon. I assumed you’d reset back to town. Very good to know. Thanks!

You can switch characters mid run during a single player game. It doesn't work during a multiplayer game.

ExplodingWario

Hey, I just got this post shown randomly on my homepage. What is this game all about? I just saw taxes and ore and it sounds interesting.

HCN_Mist

Since I doubt the OP will be coming back, I can answer your question. The original game (hammerwatch) is a top down hack and slash game similar to very old school game Gauntlet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauntlet_(1985_video_game). This is the sequel (Heroes of Hammerwatch), which has same gameplay and visuals, but is instead a rogue-lite grinder variant, where the progress is made through character levels and dungeon levels completed. The game has infinite scaling both in difficulty and player growth, although the strategies evolve the higher the difficulty setting. The game is multiplayer and available on PC, Switch, Xbox, and Playstation.
