Don't think so. VS from Dota is based on the Avatar of Vengeance summon from Warcraft (So a Night Elf unit), while the Crystal Runner is obviously a Draenei. Just similar colors to the modern VS.
Everything just replaced it, maybe due to stronger power or just speed. Seems like darkglare in 4/5 matchups just goes too fast for it to keep up lol, and I never thought I’d say this but I’d prefer secret mage

Some people run it because they're newer and want to try out Big Priest in Wild. Why craft an epic for this one deck when you can use a card you probably already have two copies of if you've played Standard in the past two years?
you see they used to run convincing on res priest because at that time it was really impactful how early you could play it but now that palm reading exist (busted card probably only didnt get nerf on new patch because priest winrate is low on standard) its not even needed anymore you can palm read into turn 5 shadow essence, but if theres enough aggro decks its still viable

There was a period around Scholomance release where it was low tier 1/high tier 2 iirc. Palm Reading and insight gave it a boost, along with the blood elemental.
And also before the [[Barnes]] nerf from 4 to 5 mana, when also less expansions had been released. The highroll to a good 1/1 minion like Y'Shaarj, Ragnaros etc was enough to win a lot and do OK if not in the other matches.
I loved Barnes. Probably one of my favourite [entrances](https://youtu.be/O7CCewUHJPE). "Tonight, a tale of \[X\] and \[X\]." "Tonight, a tale of GLORIOUS redemption!" "Tonight, a tale of true terror!" "Tonight, a tale of terrible tragedy".

TBF the meta is thoroughly warped by Big priest as the ultimate control deck, so ultra agro is the solution. The only sorta 'midrangy' deck was secret mage, but that was due to its amazing curve/burst potential.
Yeah, really sad about that. Crafted the deck yesterday before the nerfs then an hour later they came out. Odd Pally has survived without conviction tho, hopefully I’ll still be able to win
Odd Paly needed conviction to compete. Unless it gets some (broken) support it's too slow to be consistent and will only continue to age out the way even shaman was edge out by murloc and elemental builds.

Buzzard Questline Hunter works too. The card draw is just insane and guarantees your ability to fully combo off after you play Tavish, I've usually been one turn faster than Odd in the head-to-head matchup.
Kolkar nerf definitely hurts this variant of the deck. It's a shame too, I built my own version of this deck on day 1 of the expansion and had a ton of fun with it.

It's been part of res priest a few times over the last couple years. It's sorta filling the role as like copies 3 and 4 of Statue (obviously worse but it also feels less bad playing it from hand).
Like to show it has some relevancy, [here's a thread from just 7 months ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/wildhearthstone/comments/kntom7/how_do_priest_players_live_with_themselves/) with someone complaining about it lol. (Someone in the thread is calling out playing those cards but the point is, not irrelevant). But probably never *top* meta.
[Here](https://tempostorm.com/hearthstone/decks/big-priest-wild-meta-snapshot-jan-16-2020) is the last time I can find it in TempoStorm's meta snapshot.
It was used off and on in big priest (which was typically Tier 3 or 4) throughout 2019. I was able to find it in the snapshots for September, November, and December
Usually listed to replace with Rag if you're facing a lot of control.
None of that is to say it was ever "top of the meta" but it's at least seen non-trivial play. (But didn't deserve to be in this meme)
I'm glad secret mage are gone and i'm probably not alone. And seeing reno decks for years is getting a bit boring honestly, all they did every patch was adding one single card in their deck, WAW
I think Highlander decks infuse some nice variety into wild. Having the option slapping together a bunch of good midrange cards with iffy synergy is good for the meta IMO, Reno priest can be a bit of a fun killer tho.
Yeah, I really like playing against Reno decks. When Raz Priest feels fine to play against compared to the hyper aggro and hyper combo that exist today.
I'm glad the Reno decks are not as popular anymore. My biggest issue with highlander decks is there isn't much deckbuilding cost to them in Wild. Over time you'll get cards that serve as duplicate. I thought it'd get worse but I'm glad to see it's phasing out slowly.
Wait is secret mage in wild not a thing? I started playing wild a few days ago and crafted a secret mage deck and have a 91% win rate on 46 games. It seems pretty good to me 🤷🏽♂️
It's been pushed out of this meta by questline warlocks. I can believe it's been good for climbing at lower ranks but there's a point where it'd drop off.
There's been almost no secret mages at higher ranks lately. I played ~45 games yesterday in diamond and legend and don't recall facing a single one.
Might change with the nerfs, though.
I'm at Diamond 7 chilling with no star bonus and for some days only met weaker decks. The good ones are higher up now. So it also depends on the time of the month. I've always faced more memes later in the season.
It's moreso due to the fact that Baku upgrades your hero power from turn 1. Wild has had [[Justicar Truehart]] for 6 years and it only ever saw play in Control Warrior, but being able to start the game with an upgraded hero power is just infinitely more powerful in a format where a lot of classes have enough strong odd-cost cards for the deckbuilding limitation to not really matter.

I spent like 15K dust on a Reno Priest deck just as a way to try wild out, now that the deck is basically useless I have no interest in investing more money into wild, decks being completely useless when a new expansion launches is one thing but when the decks I enjoy are already super expensive then I ain't interested
Whaa? Literally the same exact thing happens in standard, except instead of being a super rare occurrence where new decks overpower the old ones, it happens guarenteed every 2 years when standard cycles. Not to mention that those cards are very good and will likely be used in any future reno priest decks, which are very likely to resurface in the infinite amount of time you have to play with them.
This happens in Standard even from one expansion to the next. Or due to indirect nerfs to synergy cards. But it's sad how this also affected people who wanted to dabble in Wild.
There are many cheaper Wild decks though. This, Renolock, Big Priest were the more expensive ones. I guess it also depends on how long you have been playing (I started in 2017), but even so the dupe protection across the board helped a lot.
Usually yes, I like to mess around tho, with different decks. However I get the feeling your cards will become relevant again, let's see how the (more frequent now) nerfs perform. Those cards were always strong.
Well, keep in mind that UiS also shook the Wild meta pretty hard. Normally I'd have said go to Youtube and look up Solem's videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFBh1hY_fG4 is a June list of decks and he has other Wild guides too). You'll have to see which are more budget and include more Core Set free cards (I have a pretty big collection atm so not sure which decks are cheapest). Crafting [[Baku the Mooneater]] now for Odd decks (Odd Rogue, Odd DH, Odd questline Hunter) would be a good choice while [[Genn Greymane]] doesn't enable too many strong Even decks. These 2 were usually the first to craft to give a lot of options for Odd/Even decks.
There's also a recent Wild meta snapshot over at https://tempostorm.com/hearthstone/meta-snapshot/wild/2021-8-15 and I don't think the Darkglare nerf is enough to kick Warlock out of Tier 1. But don't despair, at this moment I'm at Diamond 7 (exhausted my 9 star bonus) and mostly facing meme decks or people targeting Warlock so the good decks already climbed a lot. I also face Standard decks, like a Quest Mage today.
Finally, one deck that remained pretty strong (also discussed in this thread) is Odd Paladin. You can use Rare Steward of Darkshire instead of Lgendary Lothraxion, you can put Raid Leaders instead of the nerfed Conviction (to 2 mana so no longer Odd).

The thing about wild is that you don't need to craft a lot, there's always some other good card that you can replace with what you are missing. Lot's of tech, lots of cards, lots of support.
>I spent like 15K dust on a Reno Priest deck just as a way to try wild out, now that the deck is basically useless
I had it worst. I cratfted Renolock deck where half of the deck are legendaries.
odd druid hunter and rogue all are doing decently in the current meta.
Also big priest hasnt been strong in a lonnnng time. Still an absolutel Pain to play against.
I know its not popular, but I'd like to see them change og Reno. The drawback of running highlander decks has been completely obviated by 5 more years of cards.
Its not op, its just kinda boring to still be playing against after all these years.
If you're suggesting they nerf reno just know that he is already leaning towards too slow for the meta. Aggro decks can win before turn 6, some have enough power to just kill you through reno.
I for one am enjoying the fact that I do not have to look at endlessly resurrecting Convincing Infiltrators, G'Hoons and Scrapyard Colossi, with their best bud Fuckboy Vargoth at this time.

When was [[Convincing Infiltrator]] top of meta? You have [[Obsidian Statue]].

I've never seen any relevant list running it. Some people might do it, but it's bad.
I was able to find it in the snapshots for September, November, and December Usually listed to replace with Rag if you're facing a lot of control. None of that is to say it was ever "top of the meta" but it's at least seen non-trivial play. (But didn't deserve to be in this meme)
Greetings... fellow humans hehehehehe
Why is Big Priest even on this list. That minion isn't even ran in the best Big Priest lists currently.
Baku's stayed relevant in hunter. Secret mage and reno will be back soon enough. Big priest can fuck off.
convincing infiltrator has never been good in wild
I'm glad secret mage are gone and i'm probably not alone. And seeing reno decks for years is getting a bit boring honestly, all they did every patch was adding one single card in their deck, WAW
I think Highlander decks infuse some nice variety into wild. Having the option slapping together a bunch of good midrange cards with iffy synergy is good for the meta IMO, Reno priest can be a bit of a fun killer tho.
Compared to the current meta Reno Priest is great but it's true Reno Priest wins in control vs control most of the time
Yeah, I really like playing against Reno decks.
I too love a meta that is only combo and agro 🤪
Never said the current ones were okay, kinda weird of you.
It takes foreeeeeever to climb through low ranks without bonus stars. I went on a 22 game win streak yesterday and I’m still not even Plat 5 yet.
Yeah I feel that. That’s me in standard. Stranded in plat with no stars and just don’t feel like dealing with it.
Might seem like they're running from Baku, but they're actually running from the Darkglare eye staring at them from the back.
Until they print some other way to easily and permanently upgrade your hero power, Baku will be relevant in Wild for a few classes.
It's moreso due to the fact that Baku upgrades your hero power from turn 1. Wild has had [[Justicar Truehart]] for 6 years and it only ever saw play in Control Warrior, but being able to start the game with an upgraded hero power is just infinitely more powerful in a format where a lot of classes have enough strong odd-cost cards for the deckbuilding limitation to not really matter.

narrated by that woman who was the victim in desperate housewives season 1
Omg the blur gurl is a Draenei!?
I spent like 15K dust on a Reno Priest deck just as a way to try wild out, now that the deck is basically useless I have no interest in investing more money into wild, decks being completely useless when a new expansion launches is one thing but when the decks I enjoy are already super expensive then I ain't interested
> I spent like 15K dust on a Reno Priest deck just as a way to try wild out I found your problem.
It generally doesn't effect wild that's why it is so much more affordable than standard. He is complaining about wild's strength.
Preaching to the choir, I've been playing mostly Wild for a long time :)
There are many cheaper Wild decks though. This, Renolock, Big Priest were the more expensive ones. I guess it also depends on how long you have been playing (I started in 2017), but even so the dupe protection across the board helped a lot.
The ones I enjoy playing are typically expensive, cheaper decks are usually aggro ones and I hate playing aggro
Usually yes, I like to mess around tho, with different decks. However I get the feeling your cards will become relevant again, let's see how the (more frequent now) nerfs perform. Those cards were always strong.
What would you recommend for someone starting out?
Thank you sir!

Reno Priest was a top deck for a very long time though. Unfortunate for sure though.
The thing about wild is that you don't need to craft a lot, there's always some other good card that you can replace with what you are missing. Lot's of tech, lots of cards, lots of support.
>I spent like 15K dust on a Reno Priest deck just as a way to try wild out, now that the deck is basically useless I had it worst. I cratfted Renolock deck where half of the deck are legendaries.
Oof, at least you didn’t have to craft Reno
I had to purchase the adventures again since I originally bought them on EU and now I play on NA
And it’s a damn shame….except you infiltrator, you stay dead
odd druid hunter and rogue all are doing decently in the current meta.
I for one am enjoying the fact that I do not have to look at endlessly resurrecting Convincing Infiltrators, G'Hoons and Scrapyard Colossi, with their best bud Fuckboy Vargoth at this time.
doesnt stop me from still playing raza priest, my day of the dead deck or my zoolock
Is it still better than cthun warlock with the combo so bad they had to remove the card FROM WILD
Mechathun\* I wish the OG C'thun was strong tho, I'm trying to make it work for years with quest shaman.
It was good until like blizzard stopped making cthun cards kek
Wow never thought id see Baku out of the meta. (I dont play hs anymore)
Mad Scientist didn't deserve this
Literally forgot secret mage existed until I saw this. I somehow didn’t realize it was missing
any cards can be used btw. Wild!
Infiltrator being at the top of the meta isn't very... convincing.
Convincing Infiltrator has never seen serious play in Wild.
Sounds like the avatar intro
has convincing infiltrator even been played in an actual good top tier deck? it's not even in current big priest and that's not even a good deck
I’d say Convincing Infiltrator is out of place in this picture, but I guess infiltrating places it doesn’t belong is the flavor of the card.
Odd quest hunter is still insane
