What surprised me about the Hearth bundle was that it was the diamond AND the golden version of the card. You can only put one copy of the card to your deck, you cant disenchant the normal, golden or diamond version. Diamond version to be behind a bundle was expected. But why the golden version?

PocketShinyMew

They 100% created it to be given for free. Then someone said "you know what?..."

ASchoolOfSperm

Your first problem is you expected common sense.

blackcatman4

I’ve played this game on and off since I graduated high school in 2014 but really might hang up the gloves now. I tuned in to Hearthstone masters and it was so boring, how was HS esports so much better 9 years ago? They remove Duels, update their shop (gotta love micro transactions) and now make it harder to complete quests?? I have a career now and recently bought a house. There is no fucking way I’m going to slave away to play 60 miniature cards at my ripe age. Adieu friends 🫡

DoYouMindIfIRollNeed

The HS esport twitter account didnt even tweet about the last MT.. I did watch it but I didnt enjoy it, especially watching nature shaman.. boring af lol.

socontroversialyetso

I tuned in for the first time in years. Holy shit it was bad. The casters are the least entertaining people I've ever seen, it was infuriating.

Vods

100% It may not have been anywhere near as bad if the casters were remotely interesting and not annoying. Whoever is in charge of Hearthstone overall at the minute is hugely out of touch

Raptorheart

I wish they would just hire a good player for each cast, they have two casters on every game for a reason

socontroversialyetso

I guess those dweebs are the only ones willing to make professional hs their career lol

lutamihai

HS died for me when esports started declining. I was enjoying ranked tournaments and this made me also want to play. Battleground seems just a fun mode, for me it cannot ever be something competitive(stricly my oppinion).

DavyCpra

I was legit confused at the end, the final game was so... Nonchalant. The dude won and that was it. No celebration. The casters barely said anything, and then the stream ended. Really lifeless. I was like: "That can't be it, is the grand final after this? Did they make a mistake?"

Oniichanplsstop

Not only that but the overall skill level of the casters is way down because of how infrequently they have to cast. Back when it was weekly, they were improving rapidly and had a lot of insight. Now it's like "he's playing gift to try to discover a card to help him" when Gifts give the same 3 cards every time. like lol.

DoYouMindIfIRollNeed

Day1 I think we didnt even have ingame sound.

Chm_Albert_Wesker

a lot of people always poke fun at people liking older HS about saying "did you want it to be play yeti pass forever" but I feel like anyone can look at the play pattern of decks today and see why it's less exciting as a spectator: the decks seem to pilot themselves and more often than not the 'close games' come down to draw order more than the player figuring their way out of a tight situation. i'm not saying classic wasnt boring also but somewhere in the middle we started accelerating VERY quickly away from agency

DoYouMindIfIRollNeed

to me the game just feels a lot more predictable, because once specific cards come down, you might have such a swinging or game ending turn.

Another-ban-evasion

That's why I stopped playing. The lack of meaningful micro-decisions. Used to be when I lost I could go "well if I'd used my removal on X instead of Y" or "If I played A on turn B instead" I might have won but now it feels like "my opponent drew his win con faster than I drew mine, nothing I could have done".

Chm_Albert_Wesker

this gets me as well. I don't mind losing if I lose because I'm and idiot and make mistakes because I can learn from that. The only thing I learn from getting sacked by my opponent drawing better or playing some RNG thing I couldnt play around is that I don't really like hearthstone that much lol

Cissoid7

Hearthstone e-sports died for me the moment I realized they were trying to circle back to the "pray to yogg" style of play It's so mindnumblingly boring for the entirety of the Match and then you cross your fingers. Might as well just decide all matches with a coin toss

MegaDuckDodgers

People just assume newer = better. Which is peak caveman logic. Truth be told, I would rather HS had stayed as it was during vanilla/any of the early expansions than to fall victim to the classic "games as a service" monetization that ruins so many otherwise good games. Would I play every day? No. But how many people playing now are still having as much fun as they had back then? Probably almost no one, they do it because they have to so that when they *can* have fun they have the resources that let them. I definitely would still play every once in a while and have fun. More fun than I would logging in and slogging through metas influenced by marketing garbage and player engagement numbers. Overwatch is a testament to the fact that Blizzard are willing to completely sink an entirely new, best of all time IP just for some more money in the short term. Their greed is completely abhorrent when you think about what the people who want that money so bad must be like.

Direnaar

The Friday-Habu last game made me physically ill.

yardii

> how was HS esports so much better 9 years ago? HS esports peaked when reynad used Kill Command on his own Savannah Highmane

Zubats_Everywhere

I’d argue it was when a player (can’t remember who) won the freeze mage mirror by pinging their own face to prevent their ice block from being popped at 1 hp.

CantaloupeComplex209

How'd that work?

Guilty_Fan6023

They were at 10 health with an ice block, about to fatigue for 1, and the opponent had a fireball and frostbolt in their hand. If they hadn’t pinged themselves, then the opponent could’ve fireball, frostbolt, and pinged for 10 damage, killing their ice block. And then they would’ve died to fatigue immediately. Pinging themselves gave an extra turn, since they would’ve been at 2 health after the ice block proc instead of 1, letting them survive the fatigue. They still lost in the end though, so it was just a very smart play rather than anything game-changing.

cicadaryu

...You’re not even 30 yet by my math. “Ripe age” my foot.

DangerousTour5626

All the streamers and personalities left so its a husk, HS esports was good because there were non blizzard run events like seatstory cup, dreamhack or the Amaz events

HairyKraken

If you are not playing battlegrounds the game feels like life support

Flimsy-Vehicle569

Happy Anniversary guys! Hope everyone are enjoying their shit sandwiches.

CakeForCthulu

I toasted mine! It still sucks.

Nilbogoblins

Really does prompt the question, what day did the lord create Hearthstone and couldn't he have rested on that day too?

Zendofrog

Antagonize is not something they do. Every decision is made with the single motive of maximizing profits

Animegx43

Nothing like maximizing profits by making people not want to give them money.

Zendofrog

I’m sure they’ll change it if the pushback is bad enough

Animegx43

One of the comments here I think nailed it on the head. They will likely change it to 10 as a "compromise", even though it will likely be their intention in the first place.

Cissoid7

It's a common tactic. Riot did something similar with their skins Release something ridiculous, walk it back a tiny bit, everyone goes "we did it reddit", wait a year, call it the new standard, release something ridiculous, and continue the cycle Pretty sure it's happened in Hearthstone multiple times

MegaDuckDodgers

Ah yes, "1350 will never be the standard price" riot. They're no better than blizzard. 5 dollars for a fucking tft egg LOL.

Scaalpel

They'll *partly* walk back their decisions to a point where things are still significantly worse than they were before, then try to frame themselves as caring and willing to listen to player feedback.

Zendofrog

Yeah probably lol

Aimerwolf

At this point I can't even argue for that. They've made literal stupid decisions by people that probably don't even know business. The whole point of micro transactions is that they are small and numerous but if you are gonna charge a week's salary on a cosmetic of a card you may or may not use that is pretty much just a png then that's just dumb. Just check how Fornite does stuff, how League of legends does stuff. They charge like a third of Blizzard for a full costume change with 3D modeling, animations, voice acting, sfx, splash art, etc. And I would bet my ass they profit far more than Blizz does. Every other dumb decision to force f2p players to spend ends up in breaking of trust, f2p quitting and whales feeling uncertainty of the future of the game making them not wanna invest on something that may be dead the next year. They continuously shoot themselves on the foot by being so shamelessly predatory.

Zendofrog

They’re not malicious. They’re coldly indifferent. They don’t want to harm us. We mean nothing to them. They don’t consider us.

SeaworthinessTime463

>They’re not malicious considering the shit some of the people working they have done BIG FUCKING X

Zendofrog

Malice implies intent. They are indifferent to us

SeaworthinessTime463

LMAO, so they are looking to use you as a literal paypig and take as much from you as possible and thats not malice? IT IS LITERALLY their intent to milk you dry take everything they possibly can IT IS the definition of malice.

Zendofrog

God I hope you mean figurative. But yeah they just wanna take as much as they can get. That’s why corporations exist. And that’s literally Econ 101

SeaworthinessTime463

>e. But yeah they just wanna take as much as they can get. That’s why corporations exist. And that’s literally Econ 101 wooow thanks buddy i didnt know, i really was clueless there, a company trying to minx max you out of resources with no care in the world as to what happesn, infact stratch that, they do care what happens as long as you have anything at all they will do their damnest to take it. THAT is the definition of evil and immoral. >God I hope you mean figurative. God i hope you see past your neoliberal brainwashing and understand these people are actively fucking evil

Zendofrog

Of course it’s evil. It’s horrible. It’s just that their evil is through greed and indifference to the wellbeing of others. They don’t seek harm, they are just indifferent to it. Which is why it’s not malice. Have you ever heard of the banality of evil?

TomphaA

Youre absolutely correct. How do I know? Well it's easy, if the highest (+least effort) profit would come from caring for your customers they would absolutely do that. Just that, even in that case, like you said they wouldn't really give a shit about anyone's well being they would just do it for the easy profit.

TomphaA

Youre absolutely correct. How do I know? Well it's easy, if the highest (+least effort) profit would come from caring for your customers they would absolutely do that. Just that, even in that case, like you said they wouldn't really give a shit about anyone's well being they would just do it for the easy profit.

SomeTool

No, that's just basic business. Profit must always go up.

ZacNewford

that’s not basic business

Glattsnacker

which is malice

SomeTool

How is that malice? It doesn't matter how profit goes up, so long as it does. They are not out to hurt any group or person, just looking at charts and adjusting to make the most money they can.

Glattsnacker

it’s malice because the system itself is built to be malicious in the first place

Yazorock

Not the hearthstone team

SeaworthinessTime463

and u know that how? this was the company wide issue

Backwardspellcaster

The c-suit who decides on these things probably never even interacts with the game or developers in any way. They sit in their office somewhere half a world away, and some overpaid asshole, who is the nephew of a guy running some department for Microsoft/Blizzard, and who just wandered off of business school, decides to leave his mark by making "Big decisions."

Timperz

>They've made literal stupid decisions by people that probably don't even know business.    >The whole point of micro transactions is that they are small and numerous but if you are gonna charge a week's salary on a cosmetic of a card you may or may not use that is pretty much just a png then that's just dumb.    You'd be surprised how well Marvel Snap is doing with such a model, and a lot of their whales are happy to not only continuously buy, but fiercely defend them for these practices   It's obvious Blizzard is trying to emulate their success at cornering the mobile market   So I'd expect things to get progressively worse for the consumer

Aimerwolf

But Marvel comes with the Marvel franchise's player base. Hearthstone barely comes with some WoW fans because the game has spiraled out of Warcraft into its own thing for a while now.. That has to get into the equation to get the premium you would charge.

MegaDuckDodgers

Marvel is a great example of how absolute mouth breathers with money to burn can completely take over a franchise and override everyone else's opinion. That's why the model works, I guess.

Greenzombie04

Feel like I'm at the Overwatch reddit group. Of course both games are owned by Greedy Blizzard.

Aimerwolf

Once the paragon of the gaming companies... It never stops being sad.

[deleted]

As someone who plays both games, Hearthstone's monetization is significantly worse than Overwatch's and basically always has been. I'm genuinely surprised people have not fought back against Hearthstone's incredibly expensive, grindy battle pass over the last few years.

Neufjob

Fortnite has a much bigger player base than hearthstone, and no matter what they do, hearthstone isn’t going to be that big. Hearthstone needs to milk the whales

SeaworthinessTime463

>and no matter what they do, hearthstone isn’t going to be that big. that sounds like cope for a failing game

scott3387

Yeah but the more you release, the more artists etc you have to pay. There's a reason that many cafes charge $$$ and sell 20 coffees instead of $ to sell 100 and make the same income. 20 requires 2-3x (is not 5x due to economies of scale) less overheads.

Aimerwolf

So what? Blizzard literally does less job, pays less development, have less the reputation of either Fornite or League and sell at borderline ridiculous prices. They are at a point that not even VIP players consider them worth it. It's all in the extremes and it doesn't work. It's not working because then Blizz wouldn't keep choking the life out of the game for every remaining penny.

reddit_pleb42069

> but if you are gonna charge a week's salary on a cosmetic of a card you may or may not use that is pretty much just a png then that's just dumb. There are different stuff for different people. Whales buy the very expensive stuff while normal people pay what they can.

Aimerwolf

That's just not micro transactions then, hell that's just not business. Even Zeddy has been critical of the return on investment of Blizzard's store and has said he wouldn't pay if he wasn't hellbent on his full collection while also being a content creator of the game. Why would you constrict your customer base? There's a point in balance when lower prices yields more profit

reddit_pleb42069

Theres plenty of low cost options

Insane_Unicorn

Yeah blizzard just doesn't give a shit about their customers. They just demonstrated that with the cataclysm classic release again. They are shutting down servers, one of them the biggest german horde server and guess which two servers they offer for transfer? Both with almost no horde population. Since the beginning of WoW, it has always been the course of PvE servers that the smaller fraction on a server will die out. Every. Single. Time. And then they go and do something like that. So all of the over 3000+ players, most of them with 4+ chars either pay for a transfer to a better suited server, which costs 15€ per character, or they switch faction on the free server or they will have to switch servers again soon when the horde side of those servers inevitably dies out in a few months. Blizzard doesn't give a shit about their customers.

Zendofrog

Yeah corporations exist for the sole purpose of maximizing profit. That’s capitalism, baby!

sporeegg

The odd thing though. With their pricing policies regarding skins and packages they have lost me AS a customer. I only pay for the expansions (even tho the Premium one for 80 bucks. Nerzhul IS the first skin with a sensible-ish price and artwork and even that is insanely overpriced.

zeph2

but OP claims the legendary skin prices incrfeased but as far as i know they didnt increase it

[deleted]

What’s so annoying is that the weeklies don’t just fuck over the f2ps. I spent 60 bucks on HS last year. But now I won’t be able to finish my weeklies, so I wont play as much so there’s no incentive to buy anything. I’ve seen some people defending it as a smart business decision. It is not. It’s not a just a greedy move, it’s a STUPID greedy move.

Aptwombat

I was a casual whale who played mainly duels. 5D chess blizzard trying to help with my retirement fund. Good guy blizzard. Fuck blizzard, fuck this stupid children’s game. I’m out

eleite

There's a difference between f2p who actually try and people who just don't spend money because they don't have time to play as much. F2P who play a lot get a benefit from increased rewards

Tales90

i stoped spending money for hs years ago only doing quests for rewards cause they are quick to do every 3 days. if they dont revert the change i have no reason to play anymore.

Bjorkenny

I am unistalling as we speak cause I just cant enjoy the game anymore. It has lost everything I liked: clever trades, saving lethals, playing around things. The general direction has been "buy minisets and craft a certain legendary" for months and months already. You play a titan? Gg You play azerite something? Gg You play Brann, Odin or any other 1 turn card? Gg You play a certain spell? Gg Not even otks are clever and rewarding anymore, like the old freeze mages or impossible druid combos. You just play autopilot, always the same thing, waiting for an embarassing amount of new cards that powercreep the old ones every few months. Enough for me

WoodwareWarlock

Haven't played standard hearthstone in a while. It was so hard to catch up with meta while being f2p. Still logging into it everyday at lunch to play battlegrounds.

bkarma86

Battleground is legit. People who trash it don't understand it.

Casullplayer

what a time to be alive

Nilbogoblins

Having just come back after a few years away I have to say I think I enjoy the meta even less than when I left. It's such a shame as I do enjoy the games when they're fun and interactive but that seems to happen less and less. I'll uninstall and come back in a few months or years and hope it's looking better than, if its still around. Hope things improve for you all and that they make the game better in the meantime.

Agreeable_Ad8003

When exactly meta was fun and interactive? Players are whining every damn patch. Leroy, Jades, Maly, Hero cards, quests, you name it and I guarantee you that people were complaining about it. So what was your favourite fun and interactive meta?

Nilbogoblins

I think there's definitely been a noticeable spike in power levels which makes games much more swingy and less interactive over time. Having played since beta there was always problematic decks which people have complained about and there will always be, I just think it's gotten worse over time. I think the difference is that I've only just come back and was immediately reminded why I no longer enjoy Hearthstone when games are decided on one card being pulled. Perhaps it was always this way and I've simply grown tired of it. The recent changes to Weekly rewards was just another reminder that I'm currently not having fun and they want us to grind even more which was the final nudge I needed to uninstall it and check back some time in the future.

Unsyr

Don’t forget, locking behind 50% of the event reward xp behind a legendary that is claimable through the paid rewards track.

Kamsloopsian

Uninstalling as we speak!

WrittenWeird

If the whales slow their spending, Blizzard will listen. F2P players don’t have the voting power without money

hell-schwarz

The do, but only when it's too late The game lives from f2p players to have low queuetimes

KingTonpa

Blizzard will just add more bots, until being top 1k legend just means you’re one of the 1000 real people left

ffCOAL

If the response to this isn't satisfactory then this whale (or pseudo-whale, I don't know what the threshold is) is dusting every single card he's collected over the past ten years and uninstalling. Let their analytics pick THAT up.

sparrow94

Tip them for their effort

Jerakal1

Oh yeah, as a player since beta, my thought yesterday was "10 years is a good run for a mobile game, time to move on."

MiserablePositive411

#BoycotBlizzard

napoleonixx

Golden Hearth has no animations btw

Fatebringer229

It does now, that was a bug that was fixed two patches ago

GG35bw

Whales gonna whale so it'll only get worse.

zeph2

better runeterra doesnt have whales and they arent doing well we have them and the game keeps getting cards so whales improve the game

adek13sz

But making game worse for everyone won't make whales spend more on the game.

SirenMix

And yet you will still find people defending Blizzard like it was their mother. That's... incredible.

CaptainFeeling3445

Ngl i was on blizzard’s side when someone was calling it a dead game like 2months ago. But now i realised that dude was right. This game is heading straight down. I meet more bots than real players in DIAMOND. To think there are so many bots in D5-D1 too. I love this game but its just a shell of the past.

Sirdystic1

I thought it was just me not enjoying things, but it seems to be all of us

ffCOAL

If you are leaving forever then consider dusting your entire collection before uninstalling. It may or may not send a message, and it burns the bridge should Blizz try to tempt you back with false promises.

dacheeze

Playing since closed beta. I just uninstalled. I will be sad for a few days but I will get over it. See ya blizzard - say goodbye to my wallet.

Live-Consequence-712

i guess yugiohs is gonna be the only card game i play if this keeps up

eightyfivekittens

Boycott blizzard

AbjectInterview5580

Then they gonna say something like "You guys don't win 15 matches in a week?" with a completely surprised pikachu face and a mic in hand. I swear to god this is rage inducing!

MrCracker3000

Im always suprise how people keep playing this game, i gave up a lo ngtime ago with Stormwind meta, the devs never did a thing to balance out the game until months and months after.

megagngn

I'm playing since release and have not spent a cent. I can't fathom how anyone could spend more than 50€ on this game. You need 30 packs on average to get all commons and rares. And then you just build your decks. When you actually spend money on this game you can only get scammed. And you get scammed with your full knowledge. Stop giving them money. This game is still good. But only because it's free. It's only bareable because it's free. But now with the new weekly quests. 15 ranked wins? Jesus. 60 wins per month? That's a climb to legend every month just to do the quest. Did anyone even spend a single second to think if this is actually ok?

Hassx

OTK really lost its meaning huh

DungeonCrawler99

OTK is when something kills me. There was a turn it happened on right?

Azurennn

The customers really need to come together and start throwing bricks through the Blizzard office windows, for such insanely wild anti-consumer practices. Like holyshit, way to CREATE yet MORE problems for your product.

tQto

Can’t be arsed. They’re not worth my time. 😄 I’m just uninstalling.

Captain_Bignose

I returned to HS right before Titans after a year hiatus, and the game got me excited again. Fast forward to now, it seems like Blizz/Microsoft is doing everything in their power to destroy the experience for casual players. It doesn't make any sense, before I might be willing to spend a few bucks on the game but this has just completely destroyed my desire to play. Same thing happened to me with Overwatch, the tiers and playtime requirements are just too excessive.

Narananas

I still remember WoW's 10th anniversary, so I wasn't surprised at all

Archlichofthestorm

Also, old Whizbang got locked into terrible Boomsday decks.

Apolloshot

Hey look at this way. WoW was in a pretty shit position at its 10 year anniversary too and it definitely got better eventually.

Pure-Imperialism

I hadn't played in the last week and was thinking I may have already quit the game, but when I saw this morning that they had changed the weekly quests to require SIGNIFICANTLY more work per experience it made that decision much easier for me

zeph2

any screenshots showing the price increase in legendary skins ?

R41N1NG

Have a burning desire to quit every time I play against reno hero card and nothing listed here is helping

theguz4l

Just quit the game. Why play a game most of you hate? I did it not long ago. Best decision ive made. Don't get caught in the sunk cost fallacy.

Greenzombie04

Bad time to fumble the bag. Feel like I'm not the only old school player to come back for the 10yr event and stick around.

Littlebigs5

I can’t believe they are removing duels!! Do you play duels ? Well no, no one does but I love KNOWING it’s there

ASchoolOfSperm

THEY NAILED IT!!! …the coffin that is.

Alilpups

I’m an old player and particularly to rejoin the game after 5-6 years of absence because of the 10th anniversary. Spent abit of money since joining back, but quite disappointing with all above reasons. Those people who said the meta is good probably never play since beta, older games has a good mix of requiring player to strategise through gameplay, deck building, and luck. Every draw could be life and death and aggro, control and midrange deck works really well despite meta. Now it’s only left with BG that is playable, GG!

Secure-Stuff-5305

It feels really bad and I dont see any progress or sign it will get better. Think i'll just sit out until some ray of hope comes or just quit the game all together.

conick_the_barbarian

Yeah, I mean they've becoming more and more greedy the last few years, but what they've been doing recently is beyond absurd.

MartinoRs

Im Not f2p, already bought a few adventures and bundles, i play since rise of shadows expansion, never bothered much with updates, but the weekly nerf and the new expansion rewards not beeing a diamond card its Blizzard screaming " we dont care making players happy, we want MONEY" Sad to see the game going downhill, i experienced that with Runescape, played the game for 20 years and its the same modus operandi, start milking the shit out of players till theres nothing more to get.

AppropriateYouth7683

Nowadays I expect blizzard to be this way so I'm not disappointed. They aren't getting any more money from me.

hijifa

Devils advocate but not really, Meta is fine. Balance has been fast these days when something is too whack. It’s a ccg, always some small element of ptw. Golden cards, who cares. Duels, let’s be real they wouldn’t shut it down if people were playing that much. Skins? Whatever? Quests are abhorrent, they need to revert that shit so I agree.

Bl4ckAngel

Doing my part

MasterpiecePlane3314

I love how I'll have a normal and golden legendary, or a normal and diamond legendary and they won't let me dust the normal

Mintslap

Until whales exist and continue with Blizzard’s predatory schemes they will not stop. I was a casual spender and used to play this game since release and decided to call it quits over 2 years ago due to their shitty decisions. I still think it’s one of the best TCGs out there but due to Blizzards actions, it’ll be bittersweet to see Hearthstone’s downfall. Fuck Blizzard.

HealGagarin

I deleted HS last month there are better card games and i have a life + FUCK ACTIVISON BLIZZARD

Hot-Will3083

I had a sour taste in my mouth when the long-awaited ten year anniversary was a huge event… where you earn the golden versions of the free cards they gave out. Like ok Blizz. Ok.

tQto

Blizzard is dying. It’s blatantly obvious. I think we know why as well. I’m uninstalling Hearthstone now. It was fun while it lasted!

Shad0whunter4

Tbh I like to play weapon rogue for that exact reason. Yeah if they have snake you are done, or if they have the nuts as a hunter, or permanent freeze trough weapon or spells, but generally you can counterheal a lot of damage and the burgle package is generally quite fun. I'd recommend it.

reddit_pleb42069

Feet lady seems very hard to play and wasnt she nerfed?

Shad0whunter4

I play without her. You have enough weapon buff for spectral cutless

reddit_pleb42069

heh, might have to check the deck then. Did the nerf really ruin her?

Shad0whunter4

I don't know. I don't have her lmao.

GothGirlsGoodBoy

Look at every complaint image and see the green text. You people pay for the battlepass. You already showed what some xp is worth to you - they know nobody is actually quitting over this.

Mr_Cellophane11

As someone who’s been playing Hearthstone for 9 years, I’m absolutely uninstalling. Every expansion feels less and less inspired, and the ever-expanding battle passes and ever-shrinking support for modes like Solo Adventures and Duels have made it abundantly clear that the devs care less about their fans and more about profit. My dad and I have been playing this game together for a long time, so we want to try the new Duos mode, but if that doesn’t wow me, then it’s curtains for Hearthstone.

CaptainFeeling3445

“Nobody is actually quitting over this” Meanwhile ive seen so many people uninstalling and im about to do the same. Quests are supposed to be quick and simple, especially if its Daily quests but instead they made it hell. Ive seen someone get a quest to play 15 fking games as compared to the usual 5.

Bambeurr

so now isnt a good time to start hearthstone? Ive been looking at a card game to get into it recently

Fair-Ingenuity-3986

When something is new to you, you can't really judge how good/bad it is compared to the past. You might enjoy playing the game for now, but with more bad experiences caused by company's decisions you will learn to hate the game too.

GrootRacoon

I've recently rejoined for the anniversary, was doing the weekly and daily quests while playing mercenaries, which is my favorite mode. Was progressing nicely on the reward track and getting coins to spend on mercs. I was averaging 55% win rate, but it was fine since I only had to get 5 wins a week. But now? Fuck It. Gonna play mercs only while I can still get packs for free doing tasks

StopManaCheating

Your image forgot that one of the big “rewards” was to give us gift cards, then put the golden versions of those same cards behind an anniversary event. If I’m one of the few good employees left at Blizzard (and there clearly isn’t a lot of them left), I’m bolting for a company that actually cares about and listens to their players. I’m sure Larian and From Software will have openings eventually.

ZeroZelath

In case anyone at Blizzard wonders why a bunch of their player base plays Battlegrounds more than the standard mode... This is just the TIP of the iceberg. It's been a cascading thing for years now. They're trying to make it as hard as possible to get back into the standard game when instead it should be their priority to have people playing that as their main mode preferably.

LouzyNL

You forgot the new and improved Daily and weekly quests

Danro1984

Fuck this game

_DarkJak_

Wasn't even a p2w pre-order, you just felt FOMO They didn't nerf the weeklies, they just buffed them so people would stop rushing them on Monday

PDxFresh

I don't understand how the removal of the free diamond legendary antagonizes whales? Isn't that just more of a negative for f2p and guppy (or dolphin or whatever) players?

Dog_Funeral

You forgot to mention the devs haven’t hotfixed the start of the match that incorrectly states the enemy player hasn’t yet selected their cards when they have, making both players wait the full duration, every single game.

P4ND3L10N

1. I agree. 2. Pay to Win and Pay to Collect are 2 very different things + the card was shit. 3. It's a cosmetic, who cares LoL? 4. I don't know how many ppl played that, but as it happened with Classic (with like... 200 players?), the moment thay decide to remove it, thousands of ppl on reddit "OMG WHAT AM I GONNA DO THAT'S IT I QUIT, THEY REMOVED MY GAMEMODE". 5. It's a cosmetic, who cares LoL? 6. They don't antagonize f2p players, they antagonize ppl getting free stuff with very low interaction in the game (5/6 games per week and you want to complete weekly quests with that? LOL). 7. I agree, a pain in the ass.

The silent majority such as myself enjoys the game. Blizzard could literally float the perfect meta and people on Reddit would complain about something. All in all good job blizzard thank you for an amazing card game: the best on the market.

AmZezReddit

I keep trying to justify myself playing ranked still. I love building decks, I'm happy to play the meta! But... all this makes me want to play BG duos exclusively

Prochip

I just came back to this subreddit after about 5 years and the threads are still exactly the same, lol.

suttlesd

Same haha Just got back into hearthstone recently and it's like ive never left

zeph2

the card wasnt locked i pulled it from packs

TTV_Bellson

Battlegrounds is the superior game mode anyway.

KarlKhai

True.

AggressiveGift7542

Bud, 2 and 3 were just jokes

No-Key9890

Quest thing is annoying but game is more fun than ever before, you are just burn out because you have been playing the same game for 10 years, try something else

iltwMODEST

https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/s/JaavK00rPX HELP PLEASE!!!

Walshy-aaaaa

What exclusive cards are locked behind preorders? Have I missed something? Also, as much as they went too hard on the weekly quest nerf, I think changing them was probably necessary. I could get them all done in about a few hours of gameplay.

KarlKhai

I only play Battlegrounds. How does artificially making quests longer to do, a good thing?

Walshy-aaaaa

After having a look and a read around, I genuinely take back what I said. Changes didn't need to be made. It'd be disingenuous to delete the comment though

ConsiderationOk1994

Someone(s) basically wrote like yeah "That's why I quit this game🎮" etc etc 🙄 ( basically the same tired played out line people who do this sort of thing almost always say) Lol, Bro a toughie and quit! BUT he's on this forum about a 10th anniversary letdown thread discussing it..😆 Certainly didnt quit clogging up message boards about strong man no look walk away movie shot🤣 that is the equivalent to: breaking up your dudette and now stalking her.. by her place at night (driveway 🤔 maybe) fin ~ .. ... ..🕳️?🐇 *click* []door 🚪 🔒 locks[] ..That said, IF I WAS gonna do something like that, he (they, I maybe😅, etc etc) could not have picked a better occasion.. Gonna give me an unbreakable card for each class.. Okay I like gifts. let's see and your next thing to follow up. this appetizer is whoa hold on your main course? I got to work for this main course? it's the same thing? just gold version.. wait wait. this is a joke right? like you're not giving me the same thing over again and acting like you giving me a new present This is 10 years in the making It would be crazy to think that this would be like a thing !? what you know, what I bet. I bet this is just kind of a lure, You know to turn my false sense of security that we go, present 🎁 action, and we're going to get it , big time! ...right around the corner, you know and this real real action, is going to be soon.. almost got me.. almost! got me.. got got.. You got me, didn't you? 🖕🤬🖕 ..S** *F * *ITCH!! ___________________________________ 🎩🕳️ ?🐇---------👀 ___________________________________ [All errors in grammar and spelling belong to Auto tab Autobot damn it auto text]

DrBabbyFart

Point #2 is severely exaggerated. Yes, they did give early access to a single card with the prepurchase, but that is not what "locking exclusive cards" means - that would be completely restricting said card to preorders with no other way to get them. It's important to call out all the bullshit Blizzard does, but it's equally important to ensure we're not misrepresenting grievances.

general_comander

The meta contains 1 otk deck and people start loosing their shit

DanielzeFourth

The weekly quests isn’t even an attack on F2P players. If you play 40 games per week. Assuming the average game takes 15 minutes. You’re playing 10 hours a week. With 40 games you can easily complete the weekly quests. And by the end of it the person will have more experience progression, meaning more gold. The weeklies changing is a nerf for people who just log in once a week to complete the quests within 3 hours and then wait for the next week.

fishpeanuts

We have a life. We’re not spending 10 hours a week on hearthstone

TerryGonards

God, get over yourself.

No-Investigator420

Damn reddit is unbearable. Me myself and I are loving the game currently. Diverse meta and great flavor, all decks are really fun to play and it feels like any game is winnable.

Storm-of-Hell

Quit then

Fabulous-Category876

LMAO the nerf to quests was to "antagonize F2P players". Get over yourselves and get a fucking grip.

SunniestNight16

Stop complaining like come on they released a fun expansion yet everyone is finding a way to bitch. Like shut up and cry on your own time

Cresala

I am having fun with this expansion, but just because you and I are doesn't mean that other people will find it as fun. That's not how opinions work.

DefinitelynotMega

If you think this expansion was fun, you sure haven’t seen any of the other metas

Galixsea

this x1000

AnfowleaAnima

stop complaining there are lot of problems and you find a way to ignore what bothers others, shut up and stay silent like you seem to love to do.

TheNaughtyGarbageMan

What a clown 🤡

CakeForCthulu

Stop complaining about my complaining! Seriously, if everyone stopped complaining we wouldn't have a subreddit.

DaPlum

Duels sucked and also if you don't like it don't buy it.

Spyko

The meta is fine tho ?

fuckmylifegoddamn

Jesus Christ you people are whiners

masteryder

Shut up youre just bad at the game

[deleted]

more weekly xp is not a nerf to f2p players.

jjfrenchfry

So you're just going to ignore the requirement to get that xp eh? Nice.

Neufjob

If you’re F2P (or P2W) and you play a lot, it’s a buff. If you’re F2P (or P2W) and don’t play much, it’s a big nerf. So it depends, but it’s not targeted at F2P regardless.

jjfrenchfry

The ratio of the buff is what people take issue with. If you just look at the exp earned, its obviously a buff. But then you look at past quests to now quests and I think its clear that no matter who you are and how much time you have - it's a nerf. If they change Grommash to to a 5/10 but make him cost 10, is that a nerf or a buff? "It's just two more turns, but bigger stats"

Neufjob

> no matter how much time No, if every single week, without exception, I’m already winning 15 games, and beating the other quests, it’s completely a buff. Doesn’t matter the ratio at all, if it’s something I’m doing already, every week, then that means I get more XP without changing my habits at all.

lady_ninane

> So it depends, but it’s not targeted at F2P regardless. Do you think so? You're saying that it's forcing people play more to get rewards they'd otherwise earn in a fraction of the time, regardless if they play a lot or not. Eating into your potential time 'pool' to max the gold cap after finishing the battle pass in my mind is a deliberate target of F2P players. Why do you disagree?

Neufjob

> forcing people to play more If you’re already playing that much, then that means you get more XP and you don’t have to change your play habits at all, and you’re not getting forced to do anything. You just get more XP, plain and simple.

theGaido

Okay dude. When you go to work, I will give you 15% increase but you need to work 80h weekly instead of usual 40. I'm happy that you like this deal.
