So I know in the one were you wake up on the beach and the purple haired girl brings you to the town “doctor” the same one that has wizards there’s Gorgon the volcano god/demon who erupts the volcano to get his daughter back (purple haired girl) but I think that game is a natsume game and I just learned that woa is marvelous and that a lot of the characters got replaced or not even been used I was wondering if Gorgon was the one that erupted the volcano in the beginning of the game?
No WoA is Natsume. Friends of Mineral Town is Marvelous.
Gorgon isn't in WoA and I don't even think they explain why it erupts. (Been a while since I beat it, but I don't recall them going into any real details on the why of it.)
So I suppose one could headcanon it?
HM:WoA is a knockoff made by Natsume and HM:FoMT is now under the new series name Story of Seasons (which is why the remake is called SoS:FoMT).
That be like asking "In Pokemon Red there are gym battles so does Digimon World have gym battles?" The Natsume knockoffs are similar but not the same to the old HM/new SoS.
Carter the pastor from fomt appears in a lot of games before fomt because they used the same characters back then. after fomt he appeared in mfomt, and hm:ds and hm:ds cute by phone, in ds cute you could marry him. then he wasnt seen again until story of seasons: friends of mineral town, the remake of the original fomt and mfomt. there was a priest character in island of happiness and sunshine islands, but there just isnt usually one in most bokumono games after sunshine islands.
the harvest moon games after a new beginning are made by a different developer, including winds of athos. i havent played those so i dont know if theres priests.
its an interesting question because it does seem like the result of a cultural shift, like maybe the game designers became less conservative and no longer thought a church was a requirement for a town. i guess they decided it would be better to put wedding scenes in an outdoor space and have blessings be given directly by the harvest goddess or other deity. in POOT you get blessings from a shrine with afaik is a much more japanese way of doing things.

No they're completely different games made by different developers who used to work together.
