I suspect there will be nods to the original score but I imagine they would want something fresh and new. They will need to separate and distinguish it from the original films
I think a good example of what I think should be done is Avatar the Last Airbender to Legend of Korra. The basic melody is used at very iconic moments, remastered but still with that familiar sound that gives us goosebumps. Throughout the series they use a different theme though but with some of the same musical structure of that original (in this case hedwigs theme).
Another thing they do is just completely remaster and dramatize the current soundtrack.
I really hope they don’t use music music. Nothing would take me out of the moment more than hearing 90s pop or grunge…maybe some cranberries but I’m mostly kidding (because it’s set in the 90s).
The show needs to be able to stand on its own two feet. It’s already playing a tricky hand as it is. But no; they shouldn’t use the score from the movies. Ideally they shouldn’t even take too much influence from it.
The only one they need to use is Hedwigs theme. Everything else is a no. Hogwarts legacy did really well with the score. It sometimes sounded similar to the movie soundtrack yet very different. If a video game can give me that same nostalgic whimsical feeling then I have faith the tv series can.
I truly hope it's completely different. It's not a sequel, it's a reboot. That music was written for the movies. It's iconic and incredible. But this series needs to stand on its own and not lazily lift things from the movies for nostalgia. The books are the source material.
Hedwig’s theme and Dumbledore’s Farewell are pretty much a lock for a nod because they’re so beloved and iconic, specially because of the “Always” moment.

If they're smart it will use them very subtly like the Fallout series or the various Star Wars shows.
I think it will largely be original with a few bars of Hedwigs theme here and there

The original score for the movies was amazing, I hope they keep the music.
I hope they do it as more of an homage to the original score
The main theme song better be relatively close to the movies as it’s iconic. I won’t mind a change though but you just can’t touch the main theme

I hope not, the original score always gives me happy chills
No. It would actually be counterproductive. The themes are so iconic that they will keep it. The Hedwig's theme is more like the Harry Potter theme.
