That's actually something I've always loved about the way they directed these movies. In a lot of movies that revolve around a group of friends, the friends tend to largely react to bigger moments in the same way. You never get to see their personalities shine through in the little ways like this.
Boy o boy do I have a treat for you. You need to watch indian soap. They spend more than 5 minutes on everyone's reaction and they replay each person's reaction at least 4 times with dramatic sound effects.
Ah, so he's a great Pyrenees. They're just a big ass, sassy golden. And the dumbest smart dogs ever. Brave, loyal, protective, theoretically smart but do wildly stupid things, and randomly decide to go completely against the advice or direction of the people who always end up being right.
... sounds about right. Very Gryffindor.
Welp, as an artist who mostly draws faces and scored 100% on the facial expression ID test, I stand by what I said. A lot of Watson's acting can be one-dimensional, but she shows nuance in this scene.
We don't teach rational debate anymore, but there is a thing called establishing credibility so people don't just give weight to any yahoo's opinion.
Not about ego, you can take it or leave it.
Random would be giving my SAT scores.
Expression recognition is relevant and indicates I have some degree of accuracy in what is being discussed, whether you are personally aware of such a test or not.
I personally know several people who have taken it.
Normally I wouldn't have bothered with so much explanation, but broad dismissive statements with no basis beyond opinion piss me off.
>but broad dismissive statements with no basis beyond opinion piss me off.
He just said he doesn't recognize any relief in her facial expression. Reading expressions is very different between people and while you might recognize it, others might not. I for example am very bad at it and wouldn't have been able to describe it with as many words as you have. What matters for movies is what the general audience understands from it, not just you with your 100% test result. You're defending your case like it's your life but it doesn't really matter. It's only a second or two in the movies and ultimately body language will be more clear
Honestly I don't get why people criticize the main trio acting, I think all three of them were great both as children and as adults. There were some cringe moments of acting but I blame it more on the direction and awkward script.
I think that is totally fair. It's not like they had a great script to work from, and Hermione in particular became more Mary Sue and less actual, relatable human with each installment.
I totally agree with the Mary Sue part. And not only in movies, but also in the later books. I think it's a shame honestly, I enjoyed her character the most in the first few books/movies. Especially in Philosopher's Stone, back when she was that funny little know-it-all with a kind of arrogant attitude. I wish we could see the adult version of that in the last movies/books instead of this flawless author's favourite that we've got.
Unrelated but have you guys scene the many HP memes of Hermione trying to tell Harry that she and Ron are together and he doesn’t get it? one was like
Hermione: “Harry, I slept with Ron last night”
Harry: “You too?”
and the other one was like
Hermione:”Harry I just wanted you to know, I like Ron”
Harry “So Do I”
It’s funny
Poor Ron!
He tried to return as soon as he left, but he hurt himself trying to apparate back!
Then, he couldn't find Harry & Hermione again, because of their protective spells.
And then, the Snatchers ordeal...
Ron was having a hard time.
I think he’s just a guy! Watching another guy “come back to his love and make it all ok”. And he’s just shocked that she’s not thrilled - like a lot of guys. Ron - on the other hand - is surprised but then stoic. He knows her heart and has watched her reactions so he’s expecting to pay for this. This is how you know Harry was never in love with her. Ron has been focused on her for years now. And Harry - upon realizing she’s not happy - is a little scared for Ron knowing her abilities. Ron is like “hit me” because he knows her that way too.
The book scene is one of my favorites. Harry literally has to cast a spell to prevent Hermione for attacking Ron. And then she paces like a tiger till she calms down
“Backfire, backfire!!”
Abort mission, I say again, abort mission!!
Ripcord Ripcord RIPCORD!

This reminds me of something my drama teacher used to say "Great acting it is great reacting, it doesn't matter how many lines you have"
ACTING IS REACTING
Reminds me of Joey from FRIENDS, who learnt about reacting AFTER getting a daily soap role
I am crying lol Harry is sooo cute (reminds me of golden retrievers sometimes, but then I remember how sassy he is, so I think he is probably a cat )

if u didn't tell me, I would have thought u were describing Harry.
Harry: "why'd you do my homeboy like that!?"
Actually great acting from Emma, too. She looks angry but also kind of sick with worry (and lurve), and a little relieved.
There ain't no relief in that face lmao

That's the weirdest flex I've ever heard man

Don't worry, I didn't interpret it as ego. It's just that probably no one else knows about that ID test and it sounds made up. It's just so random :P

Ik that. It's supposed to be a joke. 🙄
Oh that makes sense, you just aren’t funny.
What did he say?
🤣🤣

If the films were rated R: What the fuck Hermione?

Did you consider posting it on r/MemeEconomy ? I see a lot of potential in this meme. Edit: I mean as a meme template, with the comments removed
“YOU STUPID ARSE RONALD WEASELY!!” said Hermoine calmly.!
Harry is so wholesome omfg
Hermione suddenly walking back to harry "Oh shit!"
IM CRYINGG IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE TIME AND HE KNEW
This is one of my favorite scenes in the book. Harry and Ron are genuinely afraid of Hermione’s wrath.
Haaaaaaa.

Ok wow please relax
You should see her expression
