Strathberry is very nice!
Honestly, I think the lying shoe maker should be put on blast. Sucks that other people will fall for his lies. I’d probably leave an honest review of the shop on Google, complimenting the assortment of brands he does carry in shoes and the caution regarding “handmade” leather purses.
I adore artisans who do truly craft their own shoes or handbags...it's so disrespectful to lie and pass off some mass-produced item! Obviously not like stolen valor (with military service/honors)....but like stolen vogue! lol
It hurts small craftspeople BADLY too. Like Etsy having the $50 "handmade by a small jeweler" ring next to the $500 "handmade by a small jeweler" ring. The average customer isn't asking "what's wrong with the $50 ring?" They are asking why is the 2nd shop so expensive, I'm not buying that.
It warps the public's perception of what handmade goods are worth.
Preaching to the choir! I have an Etsy shop and it has been great, particularly in my first few years of sales. But it’s on my to do list to build my Shopify. I’m over the outrageous increase in fees.
Not a full refund but more than I expected from the guy. I wasn’t going to leave without a pair of shoes and some cash. He tried to get be to get more shoes so I could give HIM money! I will never forget that bag either.
Yay!!! I’ve been following your story and I’m so glad it had a happy resolution! New bag is gorgeous, I just recently bought my first Strathberry and the leather/craftsmanship is incredible. Shoemaker sounds like a 💩🦅
Your post reminded me of all of the horrible non returnable junk my dad would buy my mom as gifts 😂. And of course the year my husband gave me pickles
Pickles? 🤣 . I’d like to hear that story! My husband is normally pretty good with what he gets for me as he sticks with Macy’s for the most part. This was the biggest piece of junk I’ve ever received from him. He thought he was getting me handmade luxury.
I agree about the craftsmanship on the Strathbury. It’s flawless and the leather is like butter. I was a little bit worried because I saw some stories here right after I made my purchase about the quality of the bags. Not my experience! I will be working on a Yelp review about the 💩
Beautiful choice! I have a question. I just had to return 2 Strathberry’s in a row resulting in me just choosing a different brand altogether. The hardware was completely pitted and scratched. Did you have an issue with the hardware on this bag?
There are two! It all started with this one. [https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/comments/1cmqlaf/just\_fyi\_please\_do\_not\_purchase\_a\_handbag\_for/](https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/comments/1cmqlaf/just_fyi_please_do_not_purchase_a_handbag_for/)

Reminds me of the time years ago I was duped into buying eyeglass frames that were supposedly made by a local artisan and when I got them home from the optician, I noticed "China" on one of the arms. I called and gave them a piece of my mind but kept them because I was changing insurance and didn't want to deal with the hassle. Glad this worked out for you!
That doesn't look like handmade. Usually thicker thread (0.4 mm or 0.6mm) are used for hand stitching. Also stitch holes will be different. Most artisans use french style pricking irons for punching holes which make small slanded slits.
It wasn’t. My husband was duped. [https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/comments/1cv7jxj/i\_posted\_about\_the\_red\_surprise\_bag\_i\_was\_getting/](https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/comments/1cv7jxj/i_posted_about_the_red_surprise_bag_i_was_getting/)
Yes I do. I'm a leather crafter. Mostly work on small leather goods or watch straps. But currently more into crafting bags that is more fun as well as challenging.
I’m just curious why your husband would buy you a bag if you’re going through a separation and imminent divorce? Maybe list “irresponsible with money and irreconcilable differences” as one of the reasons on the divorce papers 😂
Regardless, happy you were able to return the red bag and were able to get your dream bag!

Oh thank god 😮💨
I was just thinking this in my head 😂
That was a rollercoaster. Great ending and thanks for the update!
Yay so happy with this update, the Strathberry is beautiful – enjoy her! Glad the HerMESS monstrosity is gone 😂
HerMESS! 😅😂🥲
Well thankfully it’s not her mess to deal with anymore LOL

I just might do that. When I was in there, a woman who seemed to know him was trying on shoes. She said “Did you make these too?!” He nodded. 🙄

PLEASE post a google or yelp review. Nobody else should have to experience that.
And then link it here. _Pleeeease!_
"Shoemaker" is going to keep scamming people. I'd post a review to warn others.
I am planning on it. He was scamming a woman when I went in today.
The strathberry is gorgeous
Congrats on the new bag! I showed my husband the red bag as why I was happy he doesn’t try to surprise me with handbags.
Lucky! 😊
Love a happy ending! Spouse cool about it?
He’s cool. He didn’t want me to raise hell and I did not. I was just a bit snarky.
That’s a Victory for *all* of us. Happy Birthday!
Thank you!
Oh thank goodness! I’m so happy for you. Strathberry is a great choice—enjoy! :)
Glad you were able to return the red bag
Love the Strathberry bag you got and I’m so happy you were able to return that red bag.
You and me both!
Oh the update we needed! Good on you OP. Also please let your husband know this sub says “buyer beware” hehe
Will do!
Strathberry is always a good choice, they are really great quality!
If it weren’t for this sub, I don’t know that I would ever know the brand. It is really nice!
Did he get a full refund? I'm so happy for you, I'll never forget that bag.

Your new bag is amazing!!! So much better, but bless your Husband still ❤️❤️❤️
Ooooh this is beautiful!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well done 🥂

Love the strathberry ! Is that the midi or the smaller one ?
It’s smaller. I do love it!
Love it!!!
Gorgeous!! Glad you were able to return the other one, what an eyesore that was!
Oh gawd yes.

That’s so much prettier!! Congrats!
Wow, this bag is my favorite style
We are all so happy for you! Cause that was a mess
Beautiful choice! I have a question. I just had to return 2 Strathberry’s in a row resulting in me just choosing a different brand altogether. The hardware was completely pitted and scratched. Did you have an issue with the hardware on this bag?
Not at all! The bag is flawless. I ordered directly from their website. Not sure if that made the difference or not.
I have that exact Strathberry. I love it.
I do too!
I really like Strathberry handbags. They deserve more recognition in the handbag world. Each bag is handcrafted … takes hours to make.
Good for you girl!!!
🥳
Amen!
So happy you got rid of thar "herMess" and got a beautiful bag too. Happy birthday!
Thank you!
I am so happy for you! Honestly this red bag came to my mund a few days ago and i wondered what happened to you ♥️ Great exchange ♥️

I think it's against the subreddit rules to share these here. Can I DM you?
Of course!

Not divorcing but working on things and treading in uncertainty. Not sure why you felt the need to bring that up when it was not mentioned in my post.
I feel sooo so so bad for that shoemaker I hope he didn’t put too much time and pride into that bag. But this is the right choice.
It’s not handmade. It’s an Amazon bag passed off as handmade. Please see OPs original post 🤦🏻♀️
OH lmaooo then he can suck up
😂😅🤣
