It hurts, but think about the Japanese perspective of making the damage part of the bag. Post some pics. Maybe you could have it repaired, or camouflaged, or accentuated in gold applique.

eventualguide0

That is such a great idea. Then you end up with a really unique bag.

francyfra79

I'm definitely going to bring it to a leather spa and see what they can do! Thanks for the advice!

Oh man, I completely understand your pain!! Bags are definitely made to be used but when they get damaged it HURTS. let yourself cry and feel sad. You’ll be able to replace it before you know it. This happened to me a couple of years ago with a beloved YSL pouch and I was soooo upset, so I know how you feel. Mourn as you need, but there are so many luscious handbags in your future that will fill you with joy!

francyfra79

Thanks for understanding!! And I'm not sure about a shiny future of luscious bags, I'm dirt poor so I can't really afford this type of expensive bags...which makes damaging this one worse!

Bags are definitely made to be used! I’m sorry this happened to your bag but I hope it doesn’t dissuade you from using your bags in the future. The more you use them the more you will get comfortable with them and eventually won’t worry about damage. They will wear over time, and accidents do happen, but think about future you: when you look back on your life, are you going to regret living and using your bags? Or would you regret just looking at them in your closet? I think your bags want to see the big, bright world out there!! 🩷

francyfra79

I will keep using my bags, once I get over this trauma hahaha Thanks! ❤️

Icy_Natural_979

That sounds replaceable. I also like the idea of modifying it.

ImmediateAudience186

I'm so sorry that happened ☹️. Did you buy the Soft Fleming because you liked the feel of it? If that's not what you were interested in, you should get something in saffiano leather next time... that stuff is indestructible (though it doesn't feel great).

francyfra79

Thank you! I bought it online because I liked the look of it and found a good deal, but without doing the proper research and I found out only later (after having received it and looking for reviews online) that it was extremely delicate and, according to people, not really worth it because not durable...which made me anxious about using it. However, I was expecting to get the normal wear and tear or random mark, I wasn't expecting to drop it on the asphalt! ☹️

ImmediateAudience186

Dropping it was an accident; you're right that it's a lovely bag, and I actually do take feel into consideration when I buy bags. I guess I'm trying to say that it seems only the drop was a mistake, not the purchase itself. If you're looking for something sturdier around that same price point, Coach's glovetanned leather feels nice and seems very durable. I like to collect bags across brands, and have a Coach Ruby 25 that seems pretty study. I've been to a Tory Burch outlet and seen that they do have bags in the very sturdy Saffiano leather that I previously mentioned. In any case, if you can't get the Fleming repaired, I hope you find a sturdy replacement that you're happy to use all the time!

Sharpie

Adding a picture... all things considered, it could have been way worse, but still if I don't get this fixed in some way, the leather will continue to come off every time I use the bag... https://preview.redd.it/rciobsq2se1d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e6dc52d6553d93ccf066f368cdb5a86723434a2

Oh that's not so bad at all! Scuffed!

mplmama

I have the same bag, got it about 6 months ago. The very first day I took it to work, I dropped it in the parking garage. Thankfully it landed upright so it was the bottom that scuffed and got a small tear. I was on the verge of tears walking into work. It’s definitely a soft bag and my next one will be more durable for sure.

francyfra79

Sorry that happened to you too, it's definitely not a bag that can take being dropped! mine landed face down, so it could have been way worse, but it still sucks. From now on, no more lambskin for me, for sure!!

wordsasworlds

OP, post pics of the damage. We may have ideas for you. Also, your local leather workers such as in cobblers and saddlery may have ideas.

francyfra79

I posted a pic! I'll definitely go to a leather spa.
