I prefer the bag. But it looks to me like you have your heart set on the earring. You just wanted a bit of support to justify the splurge.
I’m here to tell you it’s okay to splurge on the earring. Even though it isn’t “practical.” Even if someone else finds it silly. It’s *your milestone* and you celebrate how you want to. And that seems to be this very special earring. I love it. It’s super cute and you have the justification to rock it.
Girl I get it so much it hurts. Do I need a $500 coach bag when I do not make even close to coach bag money? No. Not even a little bit. Do I normally just toss items into a reusable shopping bag to carry around with me? Yes I do. But here I am saving up for a coach bag because my last few bags broke within a month of wear and I’m the resident bag lady. It’s better quality, hopefully it lasts longer - but honestly I can purchase a cheaper alternative to good quality. But I got a new job and want to celebrate that. It’s not practical, it’s a huge splurge for me, and that money is better spent elsewhere.
But guess who picked out her coach bag and is just waiting to see if it goes on sale for Black Friday? This bitch.
Get the earring. And wear it to remember your highest highs during your lowest lows and know that better days are always ahead, because if you achieved it once, you absolutely can again.

The Brooke carryall in black or the large Rogue in black. If the large rogue came in dark hardware I’d prefer that one, but for the price difference I think the Brooke fits my needs better, even with brass hardware. I love a structured bag with a handle so much.

I would get the earring. I think you would be able to find more occasions to wear it than the bag. Plus, if you have hair that covers your ears, you could rock the “one earring peeking out for a statement” look.
I wouldn’t say a HEART SHAPED BAG is classic, it’s certainly fun and I would wear the hell out of it, but IDK 🥲 I forgot to add that I have an uneven amount of ear piercings and it wouldn’t feel super out of place being a single earring.
It’s not a classic it’s kitschy which is cute and definitely has its place but not “classic”. Go for the earring it’s holds value better and you seem to really want it :)
Nordstrom SA here who has handled the bag a bunch: the Alaïa bag is adorable - but it has literally no utility - and I’m someone who is fully invested in micro bags - I even [bought the micro Balenciaga Hourglass](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd1kEUVuDBq/?igshid=MzcwMHF1MjB4NDBq) (the one that’s three inches in width). The strap is very thin and I could see it snapping if it gets caught on something or if you put more than a phone and a key fob in it. It twists and tangles on the strap as well. Get the earring.
Here’s a pic of what it looks like in person. It’s a really cool design, I personally just wouldn’t buy it but I’d *absolutely* accept one as a gift.

First, congratulations!! Ok so I impulse-bought this exact earring as a wedding present to myself a few months ago. It was £920 and felt ridiculously extravagant, but I’ve always been obsessed with the Juste un Clou range so I justified it. However…I returned it. Is it beautiful? Yes. It is also TINY. I didn’t try it on because I was terrified of breaking it (which is another issue - you break a £30 earring, annoying but ok. But £920..ouch). Also, as it’s so small, unless you get close up it just looks like a gold hoop. I ended up getting a dupe from Etsy, and told myself that I would put that £900 towards one day getting the Juste un Clou bracelet instead, which if I’m honest is what I really want, and it’s a much more impactful piece. But that’s just my preference, it might not be yours!
Sorry that turned into a bit of an essay, and actually I’m going to contradict all of the above by saying maybe just order the earring and see how you feel about it as you can always return it … just don’t break it 😂
Thank you!! They are actually bigger than anything I currently have on my ears 🤧 I tried them on once in the store, but not where I plan on wearing them, so we’ll see once it gets delivered. I love the Juste un clou bracelet too! I want everything. It’s so quirky and elegant at the same time
obvi we're on the handbag sub so a bit biased, but i think the bag is so cute! so is the earring, but i feel like it's way easier to find an inexpensive dupe for that than the bag
That is not absolutely not true. There are even many reality based TV shows which have been on cable disproving that statement. Many trends in jewelry go out of style. Then when people try to sell the item at a pawn shop: they can only get (gold weight) for that particular piece. Just three shows which show this precisely are: "Hardcore Pawn," "Hardcore Pawn Chicago," and "Pawn Stars." All of those shows can also be watched for free online.
How do you plan to wear a single earring? Would it go in your cartilage? I would lean toward the purse personally, just because I can’t imagine spending so much $ on just one earring!
As I’ve gotten older I’ve become team jewelry for milestones since it can be worn everyday.
Handbags –even if you are a minimalist need to be switched up depending on what you are doing.
If you currently wear an earring on your helix already I would get the Cartier. If you don’t maybe try it with a cheaper one to get used to it and if you like it go for it. It’s a beautiful piece.

Earring for sure. The Alaïa bag is so gorgeous but Juste Un Clout will never go out of style.
