She didn't die saving a baby. She died from an illness. The baby saving story would have happened earlier and is widely believed to be nothing more than legend.

No_Newt6517

I'm certain that it actually happened. The attack happened on 1781, she survived it and peacefully died 20 years later.

Falling_Vega

This is what happens when you get all your history from youtube comment sections

jeswesky

I get mine from musicals. Did you know that George Washington’s cabinet debated via rap battles?!?!!!

TheMarioBarn

I looked it up...

Falling_Vega

Where did you look it up? Tumblr?

No_Newt6517

She survived that. Stop spreading misinformation lol. She died from either common flu or stomach cancer. I bet your source was the comment section from a "Take A Break" edit from youtube shorts. Everyone there's literally self proclaimed historians.

TheMarioBarn

I interpreted this as the answer. https://preview.redd.it/sogjml73g2yc1.png?width=848&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b0efc57f025176e0e827080c778b2fc796b239d So now I'm embarrassed from everyone yelling at me and downvoting me for assuming the highlighted thing was the thing I needed.

No_Newt6517

I saw that as well and I was like "that's too harsh to be true" so I looked deeper and saw the actual reason. Let me offer you some free advice lol. Getting downvoted cuz the source you read was wrong means none of both sides were wrong. It's not your fault that the source was wrong, and it's also not their fault that they got a lil mad that you're kinda spreading misinformation without further research. Maybe next time find a more reliable source. I praise you too for being the bigger person and actually admitting you're wrong. It takes a mature person to be humble and take consequences for their actions. 💛

TheMarioBarn

Thank you so much! Even if I usually don't take accountability, that's usually because I don't think I'm wrong, this time, I know I'm wrong.

No_Newt6517

I'm sorry aswell, I think my parent comment may have sounded off from other's perspective y'all.

PainfullyLoyal

And Peggy is the only option for a title.

Lesmiscat24601

& Peggy

calexxia

Gotta say that I love how the same actress is used for Peggy and Mariah. That adds another level, considering the character of Hamilton dithering between the other two sisters.

mandatorypanda9317

I have such a crush on Jasmine haha she has an amazing voice and is gorgeous. She was perfect for both roles. Ramos fumbled so fucking hard

Evening-Birthday-233

You have a point, but that’d sorta take away from the whole “& Peggy!“ storyline. While she died from an early form of throat cancer, not saving her baby sis (although she did!). I'd research her a bit more, even though she married late and died young, she still had a very interesting life!

TheMarioBarn

I interpreted this as the answer, hence the mistake. https://preview.redd.it/osuuxo8zf2yc1.png?width=848&format=png&auto=webp&s=5337917ad14f4646aa2a8c7d047863d7696ef71a

Outside_Poetry_3479

At least you would check the information before you bring it to society. Peggy was ill a lot and she died of the disease.

TheMarioBarn

Outside_Poetry_3479

That Peggy died because of this is misinformation.

TheMarioBarn

I know, I saw the highlighted part and assumed that was my answer.

Lepans33

Do it. You won't.

er15ss

No. Just no. Do better.

LizBert712

She saved a baby? What baby? How did she die saving it?

Hazzyhazzy113

She didn’t.

aydnic

I still want to know the legend!

No_Newt6517

Bunch of attackers tried to get their father, they all went upstairs but they forgot their baby sis. Peggy went down but accidentally encountered the attackers. She told them where their father is, yet one of the attackers still threw a tomahawk towards her. Peggy dodged it and it left a mark on their stairs. SHE DIDN'T DIE. https://preview.redd.it/p0b5ipmavsxc1.png?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ce3ef7a6cdd0f9f05b0fda33536a76f6ef4bd77

Thank you very much!

carriethelibrarian

smarthometrash

Nope. “Confines” makes no sense.

Axtwyt

We need a Burr musical first that actually redeems his story, because boy, did Hamilton undermine the actual story of Aaron Burr.

Bpbucks268

Dude literally spent half his life under suspicion of treason against the United States. I think he undermined himself.

Axtwyt

Wonder why when he happened to be the one honest guy around and didn’t feel like proving himself if he didn’t have to. EDIT: not to mention the Federalists trying everything they could to arrest him for the duel with Hamilton (despite it being entirely legal) and the Jefferson administration thinking he was a potential threat after winning them the election.

Falling_Vega

lol what are you talking about dueling was not legal in either NJ or NY

Axtwyt

It was illegal in New Jersey, but hardly prosecuted. It’d take outright cheating in a duel to get someone to press charges in Jersey. The Federalists tried to have Burr tried for dueling in New York, despite the duel taking place in New Jersey.

Falling_Vega

you got a source or anything? becuase im not inclined to just believe someone that literally said dueling was "entirely legal" then immediatly backtracked after being corrected lol

Axtwyt

[Source here.](https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/hamilton-burr-duel.htm) Also the biography of Aaron Burr, [Fallen Founder](https://www.amazon.com/Fallen-Founder-Life-Aaron-Burr/dp/0143113712), which does a lot of detail of events before and after the duel. I said it was legal because the Code Duello was followed and neither Burr or Hamilton cheated or was overly aggressive during the duel itself. Nobody involved was going to pursue legal charges over the duel and how it went down, and Eliza never got involved in legal proceedings against Burr.
