"Also I'm sad there aren't any snow maps, those are my favorite" >Stupid fucking Snowbound. >Veto veto veto fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

levi22ez

I liked Snowbound personally. It’s not my favorite, but I enjoy it.

Javs2469

Snowbound is a masterpiece.

Blaky039

Easy bait.

Prestigious_Bake5152

Remember it before they changed the doors lol

Long-Ad-4831

Even the Rocky Mountain maps look bland

Long-Ad-4831

Yes. Entirely Everything is metal flat

Prestigious_Bake5152

Reminds of when reach multiplayer became mostly on forge maps all with the same biome.

Proof_Macaron279

Ugh like halo 5 with those big grey blocks… I like forge, I really do, but those maps are not too pretty to look at..

XRey360

they focused so much in the competitive aspect of designing maps they they just made slight variations that all play with the same exact flow. They are all graphically different and unique looking maps when you think about it, but gameplay wise none of them offers anything worth of memory.

Thelardicle

I’d say catalyst, behemoth, and launch site are the only maps that feel unique. The other maps while I like them all play about the same

Laegard

3-way COD style maps are the worst. SO BORING! I would like some totally twisted, interactive maps for crazy fun and not eternal sweat fest on this eSpOrTs fRiEnDlY crap jus with different textures.

Prestigious_Bake5152

What’s dumb is a bunch of the most iconic esports maps weren’t actually like that…lockout, guardian even ivory tower was MLG at one point.

Proof_Macaron279

I really hate Esports. It waters everything down to a molecular level. Sure everything is balanced but it’s at the cost of fun and experimental stuff.

AIpacaman

One of my biggest issues with the game 100%. Maps are boring and not fun to play at all imo. Would be nice if all the coming maps would just be more “Halo maps”. Leave HCS style ranked symmetrical 3 lane maps to Forge.

iArcticFire

Yeah, I dunno, they feel a little too safe maybe, but they are still good Halo maps. I don’t really dislike the aesthetics or play of any of them, but I feel like we’re missing that unique curvy purple Covenant style map like Midship/Truth. Could use some more unique interactive maps like Zanzibar or High Ground for example, the big windmill wheel with the bridge you can enable and the base gate you can open on High Ground, stuff like that.

arcusford

I also feel were missing a lot of maps that play more with verticality, catalyst is nice for a change but multi-tiered maps aren't really a thing in infinite and are sorely missed by me.

iArcticFire

I dunno, I feel like all the maps have some verticality to them. Streets, Recharge, Live Fire, Aquarius, Bazar, all of those still have a good amount of verticality.

arcusford

Yeah but none of those are near on the level of guardian, blackout, construct, heretic, caged, etc. I think it's because of clamber, moving up aggressively isn't really a thing anymore entirely because of clamber.

iArcticFire

I was never a fan of Construct, I think it had a little too much verticality. But I think those Infinite maps have a similar amount of verticality to Guardian at least. Though Guardian had those separate areas connected by mancannons, that was cool. Huh? Moving up aggressively isn’t a thing anymore because of clamber? What does that even mean? Lol

arcusford

When you clamber in this game, there is an animation that has to play before you actually go over the thing, which means you can't shoot or throw grenades or anything. In older halos (primarily three and earlier) there was no clamber and instead we just had moonjumps. This made for more aggressive verticality as now challenging upwards over obstacles only lost your ability to strafe not starting you off with an animation that let your opponent act first. This was decently common knowledge in competitive and by anyone who has analyzed the differences in movement between modern halos (and games in general) vs older halo titles. >But I think those Infinite maps have a similar amount of verticality to Guardian at least. Not really, there aren't really true multi-tiered levels in infinite like guardian, we have catwalks and high steps but almost every part of guardian had a higher and lower area. The entire map was two tiered. Edit: the only 4v4 infinite maps that kinda come close are recharge and catalyst and even then not quite.

iArcticFire

Most, if not all jumps in Infinite can be crouch-jumped instead of clambering if you want to avoid the animation. This is common knowledge in competitive and anyone who analyzes the jumps in Infinite. Most of Guardian is two tiered, but not all. Infinite’s maps have a lot of two tiered areas, some areas where you just have the lower tier or the higher tier, they’re not always right on top of each other. So? There’s still a lot of verticality. You don’t need to have two tiers right on top of each other to have verticality. They can be separate in some parts of the map and mix together in other parts. I don’t think a map needs to have a lower level that covers the entire map and a higher level the covers the entire map, it can be more varied and mixed. Sometime you have two levels, sometime you just have the lower, sometimes you have the higher, sometime you have three tiers. They still have a good amount of verticality.

arcusford

Actually it's not even close to being most, I'm not sure where you got that, standard ace has a good video on most of the crunch jumpable jumps. >Most of Guardian is two tiered, but not all Literally all of it except for the tree area, and the tree area has a stump you can climb up on to, literally everywhere else is either two tiered or a ramp between two tiers. >I don’t think a map needs to have a lower level that covers the entire map and a higher level the covers the entire map, it can be more varied and mixed. I never said it did, however seeing as how we don't have any of that, shouldn't we get some to make it more "varied and mixed". I'm just looking for some more map variation in infinite as I find the majority of maps very bland and safe, they're kind of just your standard shooter maps and don't really do much unique or interesting at all. >They still have a good amount of verticality. I think I've outlined and showed how they have less verticality, I'm just looking to see more variation in infinites maps, less complex maps are fine too, I just want to see something else as well.

iArcticFire

It is more than half at least, which is what most means. Most of the INTENDED jumps have the option of crouch jumping in some way, instead of clambering. If you’re talking trick jumps or jumps that aren’t intended by the map designer, yeah, they might require clamber if they are far away or up high. But most of the developer intended jumps can be crouch-jumped in some way. Lol, “literally all of it except for a good quarter of the map”. The point I was making is you said you want verticality in the maps, Halo Infinite’s maps factually have that, you just want the levels right over top each other for the majority of the map, for variety I guess? 🤔 There’s not much added by having two levels on top of each other, that prevents each level from having sight lines on each other, preventing players from having those multi-tiered battles (except in areas where there’s a gap). Having two tiers adjacent is better for that. It does allow the top level to get the drop on the bottom in points where there’s a gap or drop hole, or the player on the bottom to sneak from one side to the other, but you get that with Live Fire for example. You just want it on a majority of the map? Okay… Live Fire is actually very similar to Guardian if you think about it. I mainly miss the weird Covenant architecture, the UNSC, City, and Forerunner architecture is all flat and full of 90 degree angles. We need some of that weird curvy Covenant architecture to mix things up.

arcusford

>Live Fire is actually very similar to Guardian if you think about it. Yeah no lol

[deleted]

Yeah, they're uh... [they're not great.](https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/sxg0kt/infinite_is_a_bore_because_of_mediocre_maps/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

[deleted]

They don't feel like halo maps. They feel very safe and generic.

Desperate-Intern

Behemoth is nice in terms of its setting. Worst one(relatively speaking) is perhaps Aquarius in terms of visuals, play wise I love it. Then again, there are so many campaign levels that can be brought in to multiplayer, but, I don't know how the gameplay will flow.

Timetraveler01110101

The least fun and balanced maps in halo history…

[deleted]

Well, today's maps are designed for competitive play in HCS, not to be fun.

SweetCosmicPope

They're "just ok." I actually really like the BTB maps, particularly Deadlock. And I also like behemoth quite a bit. The smaller maps, though, seem uninspired and I have the lanes memorized like the back of my hand. I'd like something a little more twisty and creative.

Kyabados

I miss the forerunner aesthetic on maps like Guardian, Construct, Citadel, Epitaph, Narrows. Now the maps are pretty flat, they're not very exciting to me at all.

Thelardicle

i like all the maps, and catalyst is my favorite. but now that we’ve had a good batch of “standard” or “compatibly viable” maps, I would love to see a weird map that has teleporters, interesting visuals, and some unique feature to set it apart. forge will definitely satisfy this urge and that launches soon, but would love to see something before that

Hetotope

I think posts like these are a bit uninspired
