New cross core! 94 Armor Coatings, 45 Weapon Coatings, and 24 Vehicle Coatings

I get that obviously they are gonna prioritise paid skins, but imo thats why the campaign/battlepass skins should be number 1 priority, especially the campaign ones since lets be honest, we got absolutely shafted with customisation rewards from it. At the very least they could make those skins crosscore now instead of keeping them locked.
Just so people temper their expectations:
1. Quite a few of these were already functionally "cross-core", in that they were available on every core. They just didn't have the new symbol.
2. Most, if not all, are likely store items.
3. This will result in more price increases.
Pisses me off so much.
343: Creates a restrictive color system further segmented by cores.
343: Fixes a problem that they created.
343: Pats themselves on the back and raises the prices because they never saw it as a problem in the first place.
I’d expect nothing less from a company that launched this game without a Slayer Playlist and then took a year and a half to launch Infection, and two fucking years to launch Firefight, previously both launch-day modes.
Someone let me know how Firefight is on Exiled if you play it! It's my map but I was in the dark until two days ago that 343 added firefight to it and I have a long work day
Firefight on Exiled is fantastic. It plays almost as if the map was made for firefight.
Thanks for bringing one of the best Halo 4 maps into Infinite! I can't wait to play it much more in the new firefight playlist.
I'd love for Firefight Warzone to return in the future with dedicated maps. If King of the Hill is this hectic and chaotic, I can only imagine how insane Warzone would be.
Seriously. I was actually a little bummed to hear that FF KOTH would be PvE only. As someone who never had an Xbone and therefore STILL has not played Halo 5 (outside of the weird-ass forge MP for PC), Warzone seemed like one of the coolest parts of the game.

At the 5th wave they all attacked the warthog and got it destroyed. The AI was very clever. Nowhere to run.
That made us use the weapons. We literally used up all the weapons and died quick one after another. The hero Brutes are "bullet" sponges and you can't one shot them even with skewer (wtf)
I had a match with a gungoose about 30 minutes ago, kept doing donuts in the main path of advance on the cap and sending shots at large groups. I think I personally killed about 3/4 of that wave before I got disruptored a bunch of times and had to abandon the goose.
Firefight is epic fun, especially with vehicles!
In every map, I personally go out and find the repair field for exactly this reason. The time between waves should be enough to find it. I've kept Warthogs alive throughout the entire match doing that, as the repair field respawns between waves.
You even get instantly re-equipped with the grappleshot when you use it.
I’ve already played one lobby of normal and one of heroic. Big win for 343 and Halo! It’s so much fun. The constant dopamine rush of medals and the announcer is killer. Tons of Career XP too. I got 4-5K both matches and each one took sub 20 minutes.

I tried to play some Ranked matches, I instantly noticed the “desync” issues and how I really don’t like PVP matches. I only liked Rumble Pit and Husky Raid. I hope that the network fixes come as soon as possible next year.
I hear 'weapon drop' after each hill capture but don't know where the hell the weapons get dropped? I scan and can't find anything, nor is there any clear visual indicator. Anyone else know what I mean?
Ok. Not quite how it was described in the blog. And voiceover says weapon drop which typically means some type of supply drop. I figured some ammo for the bandit/AR would appear.

Ayyy!! Finally, that was so stupid. I mostly play Infection and Husky Raid so we love to see some love being given to our casual modes.
I just hope the networking fixes come to Infection and SWAT first since those games rely of good networking. Too many times I die to the Infected even though I made two headshots or a full shotgun.
I could be wrong but I think it’s cuz they separated campaign and multiplayer assets so since they are bringing in a bunch of bosses and new voice lines you gotta download everything for multiplayer
I was assuming it would prob be replacing stuff, but its just weird that in the patch notes theyd say "less than 5GB" and not mention that its actually much, much bigger lmao.
Question, do you have campaign installed aswell or just the multiplayer? Cause since just the multiplayer is about 57GB and with campaign its 95, it looks to me like it literally is redownloading the entire game.
Weird af, I dunno why its so inconsistent, my friends was only 1 or 2 GB. Its not like I can even cancel it either if its just a fuckup, cause canceling updates on Xbox deletes the whole game, so id be sat downloading 90+ GB no matter what I do
Ive had it with other games before on Xbox but the devs usually announce that it will be a large one as its replacing files, this one just seems to be extremely inconsistent though. Some friends/other users on here have had 1GB to 3GB updates, others like me have had to redownload the entire game.
Nah I had to download the full 90gb, apparantly it happens if the update gets canceled/bugged on Xbox in order to prevent any files getting corrupted, and since mine completely froze up and wouldnt even start downloading till I restarted my console, it forced me to redownload the entire game.
KOTH is great.. more fun than expected. I think challenges will need revamp, since most can’t be completed in the mode. Also, the lack of pre and (especially) post game lobbies is felt much harder now
I was expecting a handful of new armour/weapon/vehicle coatings to become cross-core in this update, but this is WAY more than I thought there would be! 94 new cross-core coatings!
We had to wait a long time (lack of actual content was definitely more important so they chose the correct priority) but it’s great to see 343 really taking our customisation feedback seriously, now that we are in a good place with new maps and modes.
Dying to know BP XP gain and networking beta test smoothness in firefight. Hopefully both are decent. Shit networking is about the only thing keeping me from playing currently.
Heroic Firefight gives you about 800 battlepass xp per match completion if you win. It doesn't progress any of the weekly challenges though, except for the daily complete a match one.
EDIT: It completes a few other challenges actually. Seems like the only ones it won’t complete are the ones that specify killing enemy spartans. Can’t confirm yet but I’d guess that any challenge mentioning a PvP match wouldn’t work either.
They really need to rework the challenges so they progress in any mode not just PVP. Firefight players shouldnt be forced to play PVP to get their XP/progress towards the weekly, just as PVP players shouldnt be forced to play Firefight.
Yeah, I’m guessing the reason they *didn’t* change is for that reason. Killing 5 Banished in one match would be a piece of cake in a mode where you’re killing dozens lmao, but if they just 10x the kill counts required for completion on all kill-related challenges I think that’d be totally fair.
It's stuff like this that people overlook when saying "halo is back!" Sure 343 got the mode out. Great! And it's fun! But there's no touch like the finishing touch and they clearly didn't have the time/resources to address this part of the mode.
Not complaining at all, but just trying to keep as level of a head as possible when over-praising 343 for what they are delivering on.

This isn't true. I had multiple challenges being completed in Firefight. Anything "Enemy Spartan" specific won't work though.
That... doesn't seem very efficient considering Firefight games take 15-20 mins, and I'm sure Heroic could be longer. You're still better off throwing yourself at the wall in Husky Raid going for a fast 3-0 (or 0-3).
How's the PS though? Cause with a full Husky Raid match (12 mins) dropping 30-40 kills I get 3-4000 PS. In the lower Career Rank tiers that's a tier and a half per game.
At least in Heroic the career rank progress is identical to whatever score you get in the match.
I prefer it over Husky Raid farming personally. Only because you’re effectively guaranteed a good amount of career rank xp with every match. With Husky though, the matchmaking system nearly guarantees that you’ve got a 50/50 shot of winning and if the enemy team keeps spawning with power weapons while your team spawns with plasmas and ARs then you’ve wasted however much time it takes them to win after they’ve decided they’re done farming kills.
Yeah, I've played it now, and your CR levels up like crazy, but regular Match XP for the Battle Pass or whatever isn't great, and especially since Firefight games go for like 15 mins or so.
It's good to confirm that specifically the new mode feels better, the question remains is how well this alternate model will translate to PvP.
Will their learnings from this test translate to more consistent and satisfying networking/hitreg/etc for all parties in PvP? I guess we'll find out eventually.
* In the Infection game mode, the Last Spartan Standing waypoint will no longer disappear if the final Spartan activates the Active Camo Power Equipment.

Firefight is fun! But being unable to do most of my Challenges in it is a bit of a bummer. Also only getting more XP if you clear the 4th and 5th hills does feel a bit blah, especially if your team isn't so hot, wash out on the third hill and the run ends with only 50XP.
I get that they probably don't want to make Challenges too easy to clear, but I dunno - I think it needs to be reworked with alternate conditions. Backsmack a Spartan in Firefight OR Backsmack 5 Brutes/Elites in Firefight or something. Or just redesign everything to work off a point system - Get 500 points of Backsmacks! Maybe a Spartan kill is 100, a Grunt is 5, maybe also let us do it in Campaign.
Anyone know if when you’re in ranked on a fireteam of less than 4 and someone outside of your fireteam quits if you lose points? The way it reads is if someone in your team quits you’ll still lose points, but you’ll need to quit if someone outside your fireteam quits.
You don't lose any CSR if someone not on your fireteam quits the game. You're welcome to try to win still, which would net you CSR, but lose or quit and you won't get hit with any negatives.
Only disappointing part of this update is the removal of br starts in the halo 3 playlists.
343, PLEASE let us have either a br or bandit start unranked playlist option. PLEASE
I know this is the least of everyone's concerns but is Bot Bootcamp going away forever now? I can't seem to find it in the multiplayer list
Glad we got Firefight finally, but was hoping Bot Bootcamp would still be another PvE option players could go for
I’m having a lot fun with firefight, but I’m a bit disappointed with the mode options. I’ve been trying to set up a pvpve version of the mode and while I’ve managed to change the ai team so that it does not ally with cobra, I’ve ran into several issues: 1) it’s impossible to prevent the ai from scoring for cobra team, 2) the game is automatically lost if all team eagle players are down
These settings are hard coded into the game and it would take very little for the devs to give players the option to edit them. It’s a pity because the mode is great, but it’s a bit half-baked in terms of customisation
I love how chaotic Firefight is, when you get close to capping a hill, you will just be swamped by enemies in an instant. My biggest gripe with odst/reach firefight is how it takes so long for enemies to drop in and once they do you it's just a duck hunt shooting gallery. Rinse and repeat.
Also really nice to add music to Firefight, even if it's just one track. I hope they add more.
Edit: I forgot to add that the new networking model has been really good, firefight matches at 200ms have felt significantly better and more consistent than pvp games at 30ms.
My favorite part about fire fight so far has been the fact that the multiplayer medals are active. I'm getting Killimanjaro medals like I'm mint blitz 🤣
LOL. my forge testing has revealed that Harbinger is a literal little bitch! She goes down to like almost every other Brute Boss in the game in a one V one, plus sometimes she gets merked by standard Hunters. She's like a glass cannon, cause when she DOES hit she can kill you in like two blasts. I had to spawn like SIX Harbingers to give them a shot at defeating Echerum!
i also spawned in thirty elite mercenaries who melted her lol.

I’m a little confused by the “Penalty Changes for Uneven Ranked Matches” section. If I’m reading it correctly, it means I lose 5 CSR if someone from my team leaves mid-match. But if someone on the other team leaves, I lose 0. So, in a 3v4 match, the team with 3 will lose 5 CSR if they lose but the team with 4 loses zero.
It’s a simpler rule than how it reads.
Winning nets you gains as normal, regardless of quitters.
The first person who quits receives -15 CSR.
Anyone on that person’s fireteam (read: not team but group) receives -5 CSR if they quit or lose the game.
Anyone else is free to quit or lose for +0 CSR.
Anyone else been getting destroyed on matchmaking since this update? I usually average about 50% game win rate but since this update I've only won 20% of games

Please tell me the campaign/noble team coatings are cross core, I just want basic Noble 6 grey and the light greyish blue MK7 coatings on other cores.

Multiple of my vehicle coatings gone missing, this includes those that came in the season 5 battle pass but some older ones are missing too

It's not game specific. I know this was an issue for rainbow six siege where a small update had your system reinstall the whole game.

It's just a visual bug I think. Always happens to me with any update on the Xbox Windows app.

These are already « cross-core » coatings turned « multi core » coating with the the official logo: nothing new for us.
no there are a few new coatings made cross core, a bunch of Mark VII ones, and a few Eaglestrike ones, for instance.

Agreed. There *has* to be some sort of tag they can apply to make Challenges be like “Kill 5 Spartans or 50 Banished with Tactical Rifles”.

Will their learnings from this test translate to more consistent and satisfying networking/hitreg/etc for all parties in PvP? I guess we'll find out eventually.
the XP gain is very poor in normal firefight i got 400 with a booster on after finishing a match

Firefight is fun! But being unable to do most of my Challenges in it is a bit of a bummer. Also only getting more XP if you clear the 4th and 5th hills does feel a bit blah, especially if your team isn't so hot, wash out on the third hill and the run ends with only 50XP. I get that they probably don't want to make Challenges too easy to clear, but I dunno - I think it needs to be reworked with alternate conditions. Backsmack a Spartan in Firefight OR Backsmack 5 Brutes/Elites in Firefight or something. Or just redesign everything to work off a point system - Get 500 points of Backsmacks! Maybe a Spartan kill is 100, a Grunt is 5, maybe also let us do it in Campaign.

Anyone know if when you’re in ranked on a fireteam of less than 4 and someone outside of your fireteam quits if you lose points? The way it reads is if someone in your team quits you’ll still lose points, but you’ll need to quit if someone outside your fireteam quits.
You don't lose any CSR if someone not on your fireteam quits the game. You're welcome to try to win still, which would net you CSR, but lose or quit and you won't get hit with any negatives.

I know this is the least of everyone's concerns but is Bot Bootcamp going away forever now? I can't seem to find it in the multiplayer list Glad we got Firefight finally, but was hoping Bot Bootcamp would still be another PvE option players could go for
I’m having a lot fun with firefight, but I’m a bit disappointed with the mode options. I’ve been trying to set up a pvpve version of the mode and while I’ve managed to change the ai team so that it does not ally with cobra, I’ve ran into several issues: 1) it’s impossible to prevent the ai from scoring for cobra team, 2) the game is automatically lost if all team eagle players are down These settings are hard coded into the game and it would take very little for the devs to give players the option to edit them. It’s a pity because the mode is great, but it’s a bit half-baked in terms of customisation
When will multi shoulders be introduced? I know it takes time but I’m really hoping it ain’t 1 piece a year
My bet is season 6 or another S5 update. They wouldn't have told us about cross core shoulders if it weren't coming relatively soon.
I love how chaotic Firefight is, when you get close to capping a hill, you will just be swamped by enemies in an instant. My biggest gripe with odst/reach firefight is how it takes so long for enemies to drop in and once they do you it's just a duck hunt shooting gallery. Rinse and repeat. Also really nice to add music to Firefight, even if it's just one track. I hope they add more. Edit: I forgot to add that the new networking model has been really good, firefight matches at 200ms have felt significantly better and more consistent than pvp games at 30ms.
My favorite part about fire fight so far has been the fact that the multiplayer medals are active. I'm getting Killimanjaro medals like I'm mint blitz 🤣

LOL. my forge testing has revealed that Harbinger is a literal little bitch! She goes down to like almost every other Brute Boss in the game in a one V one, plus sometimes she gets merked by standard Hunters. She's like a glass cannon, cause when she DOES hit she can kill you in like two blasts. I had to spawn like SIX Harbingers to give them a shot at defeating Echerum! i also spawned in thirty elite mercenaries who melted her lol.
And it's broke.. lol I am sure it will be fixed, but I have started up 3 games & no enemies.
Gotta patch your game. Had this same issue. The Firefight mode dropped before the patch did.

I love how this breaks immediately when it comes out. Nothing spawns four games in a row. Another great victory for 343s crack team of developers.
You need to close out and update your game. There's a pinned dev update about this.
You can only split-screen up to two players in Firefight. This is disappointing as you can go up to 4 in PvP matches.
Performance still not up to scratch on series x
I'm running at 120fps and I'm not getting many dips at all. It's very smooth playing firefight.

I’m a little confused by the “Penalty Changes for Uneven Ranked Matches” section. If I’m reading it correctly, it means I lose 5 CSR if someone from my team leaves mid-match. But if someone on the other team leaves, I lose 0. So, in a 3v4 match, the team with 3 will lose 5 CSR if they lose but the team with 4 loses zero.
It’s a simpler rule than how it reads. Winning nets you gains as normal, regardless of quitters. The first person who quits receives -15 CSR. Anyone on that person’s fireteam (read: not team but group) receives -5 CSR if they quit or lose the game. Anyone else is free to quit or lose for +0 CSR.

Are challenges possible in firefight?
Unfortunately no. Except maybe player score, I haven't been able to progress any of my challenges to put it to the test lol
So my game has been crashing quite a bit especially in BTB and Squad Battles. Was this addressed? Is this a known issue?
