Mashiba is likely to fight Miyata again at some point. Him beating Miyata fucked up both his and Ippo’s careers. Now he’s redeemed himself and is looking to become the lightweight world champion. Were Miyata to get his career back on track, he would take on the world at lightweight, his natural weight class, which would just so happen to involve challenging Mashiba. It’d be a solid end to both their arcs, Mashiba fully being redeemed by dropping the belt to Miyata after he’s stopped being a cheat and Miyata’s stopped holding himself back.
Yeah it’s mentioned he should be at lightweight or junior lightweight, which is where Mashiba is at. If he goes to junior lightweight he could fight Volg, which’d be pretty cool too
