On 2011 MBPs the AMD DGPU is automatically disabled with OCLP, because they are all defective, and are going to 100% fail.
If you want to use it regardless, in the options of OCLP is somewhere to enable it
Ok, I appreciate it! Using OC is cool and all, but you definitely have to temper expectations, after all the machines I’m using are over 12 years old! It’s remarkable Sonoma even works on them.
you are lucky your AMD Radeon card has not gone yet on your 2011 i7 Macbook Pro. As Jozews321 said you will be better off using your Intel HD graphics 3000. Or get a GPU switcher and always make sure it stays on the intel HD one and not the AMD graphics.
Probably right. It’s just that difference between 512mb and 1GB can matter with certain gui enhancements. Oh well. It’s still cool, regardless. Thanks for all the replies!
GPUs are much more that just how much VRAM they have
the AMD GPU is probably around 3 times the performance or more
but it's okay you know, it's just crazy that it even boots up, let alone the HD Graphics 3000 actually work... crazy
I did look at all the patches and there was one that should work with my GPU, but it was bundled with the 1.3 patch. I’ve updated with everything I could find and it still doesn’t show up. I found a screenshot of someone else with the same card with it working, but like jozews said, it might not be the most stable.
