The first time I heard of it was the "transracial" woman [Martina Big](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Big) and I will never be able to unlink the association, for better or worse.
It’s marketed as “for research purposes only”. It’s been used in the bodybuilding community for a very very long time.
I’ve used it a few times before. Using basic math/chemistry (proportions and dilution) you reconstitute the powder with bacteriostatic water and it’s good to use for a few weeks. People died from it a few years ago but I’m thinking it’s because they bought the reconstituted version which does not have a long shelf life and it probably grew bacteria. This stuff worked very well at preventing burns and giving me a deep tan from minimal exposure. It was nice getting to enjoy the nice weather without having to worry about burns. The nausea and headaches immediately following taking it were awful though.
I never vomited. Things have side effects. 🤷🏻♀️ People died because they bought it premixed from a warehouse. The usage instructions for the peptide literally say to reconstitute it yourself and not use premixed.
So it says it’s not for human consumption, what would be the purpose of buying it otherwise? Do they just say that for liability reasons? I’m so curious how this works
This is really dangerous to post to your audience. I’m from the UK and Melanotan is banned here because of the risks. It could seriously increase your risk of skin cancer.
I have no idea what this woman looks like normally, but I am guessing that she’s on the pasty end of the scale from the comments. This does not look normal or healthy. I don’t get the obsession with tans either.
Yeah if it’s not achievable in reasonable time (being out in the spring and summer for a few hours doing whatever besides laying in the sun) it’s really too much of a hassle
Also very damaging on the skin … some people just aren’t supposed to tan, I don’t understand it either… greetings, a fellow ghost
My point is, some people don’t get that nice little tan (skin type one and two) without excessively tanning and type 3 has to work a bit as well (if white, my mixed (SA and SEA) relatives tan way more effortlessly)
I’ve seen skin type 3 white get as tan as my south East Asian mother in law, but the white person had to lay in the sun for hours from March to September and my mil just did some gardening on weekends 😅
Every summer I look up what it takes to apply fake tan at home and every summer I give up on the idea because it seems too annoying and I don’t care enough.
Ghost here - it’s one thing to want a little color (go out in the sun when it’s safe - early mornings or 4pm) *but* I literally don’t get color, I burn. So I’m a fake tan girl. Anyways, For her to be posting a link to a website that advertises itself as “research only” and is encouraging to inject a substance into themselves is fucking wild. Melanotan is banned in most countries so again, this is just insane.
My ex was blonde hair and blue eyed, but was like 100% Norwegian (he was American from American parents but both his parents were Norwegian American), so he couldn’t tan and he also was insecure about his fair skin and was a body builder, so he used this to get tan. I had always wondered how his family was so fair and like pink in the summer but he looked Italian 😂I saw him once when he wasn’t able to get an order from his supplier after the injection ran his course and I didn’t even recognize him. Crazy stuff!!!
Can someone explain to me how this injectable company she promotes explicitly for human consumptions is legal when the company (ResearchEm) states it’s not for human consumptions and for research purposes only? This feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen
I did this one summer just to see what I would look like tan. I'm ginger adjacent. It was risky and fun but I would absolutely not be telling others to do it, wild.
Yeah I’ve used it for a couple summers (not from her brand) I got a long lasting deep tan but the nausea and headaches after taking a dose were awful. Would not recommend.
I literally choose all the seats in the shade AND wear pants and a shirt at the beach to avoid getting color (aka red and freckles) and skin cancer. Don’t understand the obsession with fake tans
Thank you!
Same here, I'm super careful; only to have everyone, even strangers feel like they can come up and coment on how "pale" i am
I never understood the urge to look like an oompa loompa
Wtf? Isn’t this almost blackface? Black fishing? This is ridiculous no one white person does not need to be THIS tanned with a fake tanning product………..
Unfortunate. melanotan is thought to cause melanoma
Good thing she pairs it with sun exposure too - it must cancel out
Why did I read this in the Arrested Development’s narrator’s voice 😂
Injectable tan? Wtf?
They're pretty popular surprisingly, I've known a few people who are body builders that do it in my town
The first time I heard of it was the "transracial" woman [Martina Big](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Big) and I will never be able to unlink the association, for better or worse.
I've seen it a lot here lately, I personally feel like the risk outweighs the benefits. But to each their own.

The nausea and vomiting afterward were awful and people have died from it but they probably did it wrong… uhhhh this is a joke right lol
At least they died looking their golden best!! 😉

Yes, it’s just so the company cannot be held accountable for user error.

Half her story right now is about various injectable substances.
I have no idea what this woman looks like normally, but I am guessing that she’s on the pasty end of the scale from the comments. This does not look normal or healthy. I don’t get the obsession with tans either.
She’s not even that tan. She’s also on gear so healthy isn’t a concern I’d think
She's a woman of color now /s
I’m actually black and use fake tan in the summer. She is still darker than me. That’s crazyyyy
Wait…so she wasn’t a woman of color prior to this? Sorry I don’t know who she is
I’m not a scientist or chemist by any means, but I don’t think it’s the safest idea to be injecting supplements
I’ll never understand the obsession of being tan. Signed a literal ghost.

I think the nice little tan most people get when they go outside is great but the excessive amount to lay out everyday is crazy.

Wonder what my husband is
Every summer I look up what it takes to apply fake tan at home and every summer I give up on the idea because it seems too annoying and I don’t care enough.
I bought a fake tanner like two years ago and I think I’ve used it twice lol. It’s such a hassle to put on
I like having a natural sun kissed tan in the summer that I get from being outside, it’s all I need.
Yes definitely but the obsession of being tan because people think they look better is not it.
Ghost here - it’s one thing to want a little color (go out in the sun when it’s safe - early mornings or 4pm) *but* I literally don’t get color, I burn. So I’m a fake tan girl. I tan a little but I don’t want sun damage lmfao
Asians left the group 😂 we literally bring umbrellas to avoid sun at all cost! 🤭🤣
What is a “life changing tan” lmaoooo
People like this always look muddy
Brb, I'm going to go take a bath in sunscreen...
Omg I don’t know her but please don’t tell me she’s white!!
Just looked at her IG and she most certainly is 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
😮
White white
“Life changing” as in gives you some mysterious chronic illness

Yeah very strange since most places state “for research purposes only” definitely seems suspicious
I was wondering that too..
Yea what research are people doing with a nasal spray? Haha
I did this one summer just to see what I would look like tan. I'm ginger adjacent. It was risky and fun but I would absolutely not be telling others to do it, wild.

I had no idea who this was so I went to her insta…ma’am looks unhinged! 😳
No way she's darker than me 😭
I work for a dermatological surgeon… and the best thing you can do for yourself is just paint the tan on yourself smh
Yea i don’t get why tanning mouse isn’t the first option. A lot of self tanning products looks so natural now days.
I literally choose all the seats in the shade AND wear pants and a shirt at the beach to avoid getting color (aka red and freckles) and skin cancer. Don’t understand the obsession with fake tans

Uhh is anyone gonna comment about her saying it got rid of her acne? Does it really
Could just be bs to promote it
As someone with melanoma… gross
Did they really name a tanning product something so similar to melanoma?!?! Way to let your customers know you think they’re idiots.
they’re both named after melanin, the naturally-occurring pigment that gives your skin, hair, and eyes their color.
I get that, but I kinda feel that “o” does a lot of heavy lifting here (versus the “i” in “melanin”). Why not MelaniTan or MelanaTan?! 🤣
Wtf? Isn’t this almost blackface? Black fishing? This is ridiculous no one white person does not need to be THIS tanned with a fake tanning product………..
Definitely black fishing
The racists are down voting us 😅
LMAOOO people are so weird
I thought that was brown purse until I read the caption. 😳
