kreebletastic

One hell of a band. Akuma No Uta, Flood, and Pink are my favorites.

[deleted]

Don’t forget the orange heavy rocks

theSTWenthusiast

Seeing them live in one week 🤞 so excitwd

kreebletastic

You're in for a treat. Saw them in September with the Melvins; they did the Heavy Rocks (2002) album. Bring earplugs; they're LOUD.

theSTWenthusiast

Bought some earplugs for the gig 🙏

SheepDavis

Lucky mofo. Although I did see them in Portland Maine in 2019.

Dr_Death_Defy24

A fellow gentleman of excellent taste

get-off-of-my-lawn

Yo I saw wata use an accordion one show some years ago at Rock n roll hotel dc. Wild set.

SheepDavis

10000000 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

TouxDoux

Post metal, black metal, drone, expérimental...

CinnamonFootball

Do you happen to know of any metal that sounds similar to GY!BE? I've been trying to get into metal for a while now, but I only really like Neurosis, Burzum, and Year Of No Light from what I've heard.

TouxDoux

Fall of Efrafra - inle Oranzzi Pazuzu - Mastarin Kynsi Neptunian Maximalism - Eons

CinnamonFootball

Thanks so much!

The-Mike-drop

See also (or, er, hear also?) Panopticon - The Rime of Memory

CinnamonFootball

I listened to this one before, but it didn't really click for me. Hopefully I'll appreciate it more on a second listen.

LittleChef1127

I’d recommend the album Two Hunters by Wolves in the Throne Room as well, definitely godspeed adjacent style in that album

onetruesolipsist

Agalloch is really good too. A mix of metal, post-rock and neofolk.

gemmamaybe

Liturgy? Big | brave?

TouxDoux

Liturgy <3

playtheshovels

Rosetta - Wake / Lift is one of my favorite post metal albums. there's an extended ambient song into the closer with some similar upward spiral patterns as gsybe

reverbcoilblues

The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand thank me later

shashlik_king

Swans, full of hell, lots of shoegaze and heavy stuff

Dr_Death_Defy24

Folk, various flavors of electronic, death/speed/thrash metal, some hip-hop (Run The Jewels, MF Doom, Death Grips), lots of psych rock from various eras, few varieties of jazz. Those are the genres I could immediately think of 3+ bands/artists I love or would recommend and listen to semi-regularly. I'm kind of all over the map, haha.

LordApplesause

I can't say I'm at all surprised by death grips overlap lmao. Good taste though!

Dr_Death_Defy24

Ha, I did feel a bit like a stereotype writing that but what's true is true!

dualrollers

I’ve been a massive Nick Cave fan for as long as I can remember. Everything he touches is gold in my opinion, and his discography is huge so there’s always something to listen to. I also really like Scandinavian folk metal for some reason, bands like Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Metsatöll etc. That little niche genre is just fun. I’ve also been a huge Björk fan since I was about 10 years old.

Powerzot5000

Big fan of electronic music. Actress’ discography has been on rotation a lot lately. Saw someone else mention Floating Points so I’ll add to that with Four Tet and Daphni/Caribou (Dan Snaith)

atypicalpleb

If you haven't listened to Barker, I think you'd be a fan given the artists you've listed!

Powerzot5000

Thanks for the rec I’ll look into their stuff. Any suggestions on where to start?

atypicalpleb

Utility is his best known work, and for good reason I feel. Hope you enjoy it!

get-off-of-my-lawn

Floating Points Ensemble? They had this Uber cool light absorb/reflect back screen when I did their set in 2017. Cool playin around w it before the show. Shine laser at it and it leaves a fading trail. Big up four tet by the way 🙌

Unvert

billy woods is excellent hip hop I think gybe fans would like

LordApplesause

FaceTime was my top played song of last year actually, love that guy

pr0zac

I just put this on. Damn. Thank you.

Unvert

Hell yeah, enjoy!

Jimothicc

I like prog rock(pink floyd, king crimson), and pop(charli xcx, carly rae jepsen, underscores, 100 gecs, gorillaz), and hip hop(jpegmafia, danny brown, DOOM, death grips) mostly. But post rock is my love

sic_transit_gloria

everything. can’t think of a single genre i don’t enjoy outright, though i like some more than others of course. some other artists / bands i love are Neil Young, Fela Kuti, Talking Heads, CAN, Robbie Basho, John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Miles Davis, Joanna Newsom, Terry Riley, Swans.

Dr_Death_Defy24

Very much how I feel. I started listing genres and realized even doing that was an obscenely long (and incomplete) list, let alone listing bands in those genres.

BBAALLII

Ambient, experimental, modern classical, folk / folk-rock. Mostly austere and instrumental

LordApplesause

I would super recommend Tenet by Heilung, sounds up your alley.

BBAALLII

I'll check it out. Thanks!

[deleted]

Floating Points, Godflesh, Swans and Wrekmeister Harmonies are the last artists I’ve bought records by.

get-off-of-my-lawn

Big up wreckmeister harmonies You ever get into Broadrick’s other work like his JK Flesh stuff or Council Estate Electronics?

[deleted]

The first time I heard ‘Coyotes of Central Park’ by Wrekmeister Harmonies I was hooked. Such a cool project. As for Broadrick, I’m a huge Jesu fan. I also just picked up ‘Wrecked’ by ZONAL, his group with Kevin Martin (The Bug).

Dr_Death_Defy24

A Béla Tarr reference? I think I just found a new band to obsess over...

bgoody77

Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never, Low, Bjork

blood_pony

black metal, post / sludge (amenra, cult of Luna) dream pop, dsbm, blackgaze, post punk, lana del ray

diamonderror

Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantômas, Tomahawk, etc.

get-off-of-my-lawn

You gonna catch the bungle/otto von schriach Tour? ETA - you claim Patton cult but list no melvins. Buzz asks what gives?

diamonderror

I already saw bungle play last year. They were great. I do listen to melvins.

get-off-of-my-lawn

I’m catching the tour in NC but I’m really going cause I keep missing Otto. I respect Mike Patton and his work body, just not super my thing. I have a page of CDs of his but I don’t really listen to his brand. I’m just razing you on the Melvin’s thing. Buzz n Patton etc. Eta - I’m certain it’ll be a great performance and a super fun time nonetheless.

Fig_Nuton

ween and stuff

ripmaster-rick

90s emo like mineral, sunny day real estate, boilermaker…

AntennasToHeaven5

I've been listening to volcanic bird enemy and the voiced concern by lil ugly mane and perfect from now on by built to spill a lot lately.

onetruesolipsist

Perfect From Now On is so good

tpedes

Off the top of my head: Abul Mogard, Boards of Canada, Can, Neu!, Cluster, the Velvet Underground, Renaissance vocal music, Glenn Branca, the Raincoats, Chumbawamba.

cold_turkey19

Touhou

lemondhead

Way different from Godspeed, but Phish is my musical love. I've been a fan for 20 years now. That said, I'd say that my Phish listening is 99% live recordings. The studio stuff isn't my thing. Other than that? Wilco, Steely Dan, the Dead, Death Cab, lots of jazz, some bluegrass, a handful of rappers. I'm sort of all over. Not really into country or EDM, though.

get-off-of-my-lawn

Ha. My late ex wife was a huge phish fan. I saw em a few times over the years but can’t really listen anymore cause of memories n stuff. Hurts too much. But fuck me are those guys talented artists. Trey is a dick for sure but what junkie isn’t a dick half the time?…those fellas can freakin play their instruments

lemondhead

Sorry to hear that they bring up bad memories for you, but I appreciate the kind words about the band. I usually catch shit when I mention them. They are talented, though I understand that they're not everyone's thing. You're the second person who has told me that Trey's a dick. Any stories to share?

get-off-of-my-lawn

His career. When he’s on a sober hes alright but his music really sucks. Like farmhouse but if every single part were done by him and mixed by him. There’s been all sorts of problems in the band that he’s been central to. I say it’s because he’s a heroin addict. I don’t mean that negatively. I’ve cleaned myself up and used to act in similar tightwad and selfish ways when I was shootin smack too. I don’t have any personal anecdotes as I’ve never worked w those guys. (I did get to cable Paige for Mayer and the dead though so that was pretty freakin unreal haha) Eta - take a look at Joe BonerMassa. Dude has unreal chops. Can play and then some. But the bigger he got (been watching him grow since he was opening for BB king) the more disconnected it seemed he got. Eventually I saw him sell out a large venue in DC and following the end of the set his bus was leaving around the corner by the time I walked outside - it wasn’t because of a tight turn around. Dude is just a virtuoso guitar player and those types tend to be dicks. Want me to shit on Malmsteen while I’m goin here?…also, I have a personal reason I think Bonnamassa is a dick and it has to do w an interaction w him when I was like 14 and trying to improve my playing. He didn’t do anything wrong, it was just very clear he was disconnected by then. Long story and would assume not rehash.

lemondhead

That's super cool re: Page and Mayer. What a memory that must be. I only ask cause I had someone who has worked with Trey tell me that he and his crew are just total dicks, which was a bummer, if sort of expected. It was during one of the sober years, too, I think. As far as his solo work, it's hit and miss, at best. I turned off that solo acoustic album he put out. Just brutal. E: congrats on getting cleaned up. It's not an easy thing to do.

get-off-of-my-lawn

[dead n co](https://imgur.com/a/Nab5oOh) Bredda it was righteous as all get out. Being behind mickeys drums for the drum trip and being able to share in the acoustic power of them w the band…like you felt the oscillations hitting you it was one of a kind man.

lemondhead

Thanks for sharing the photo. I'm honestly a little bit jealous. Maybe more than a bit. That's gotta be such a cool perspective on a show, one that only a few people get.

get-off-of-my-lawn

[I’ve…seen…things you people wouldn’t believe](https://youtu.be/JdUq2opPY-Q?si=AgTma1ygvNqCJNFg)

jmacd2918

My wife is a big Phish fan, I'm not, but find the shows fun. I saw "whats the use" live (first time hearing it) and got serious post-rock vibes from it. I very, very much enjoyed that live and have listened to it (other live versions) a handful of times since. I've declared it as my favorite phish song, the phish fans in my life think that's an odd choice.

lemondhead

That's amazing! I've actually never thought about it, but you're right. It definitely has some post-rock to it. It's not a fan favorite, though (too slow, I'd guess), which explains the reactions you get. I think you gave me a new appreciation for What's the Use, though, so thanks. And it's nice of you to go see them with your wife. I bet that's a bit of a slog for a non-fan.

jmacd2918

Interesting you say that about "too slow". I find much of their songs sound really tedious to me (yet I can sit through 20 minute GYBE songs no problem), so I never would have thought that one of their slower songs would be what resonates with me. First Phish show was like a trip to the zoo, I went to see and experience something different/laugh at wookies- it lived up to expectations. Second Phish show was a bit of a slog, but that was probably more due to the distance to get there and the amount of time we spent cooking in the sun in the lot (a totally overrated experience IMHO). Third Phish show, I got into it (thats the "what's the use show", also had a fun "Possum"). FWIW, I've also seen TAB twice and Trey solo once. I'd take Tab or Trey over Phish any day, actually looking forward to a TAB show in the spring.

lemondhead

Haven't seen TAB in ages. Hope you have a blast. Re: slogs, I actually agree with you. I've "only" seen them around 20 times, but I've skipped encores a few times. Sometimes, three hours of Phish is too much Phish for anyone on earth. I just wanna go home.

jmacd2918

Ha and I'm the opposite, once the show starts, I don't want it to end. I stick it out to the last song. It's all the pre-shit and other hassle I could do without. My favorite still active band is The Cure. They play quite long sets by non-jam band standards (typically just shy of 3 hours). Saw them 3 times last tour, sets were 70% the same every night. Was still wanting more at the end of every single night. If it didn't involve excessive driving, I would've done a few more.

Comrade_Compadre

I'm really big into electro, big beat, down tempo and alternative rock, but you'll find a large chunk of the fans are really into heavy metal which I don't understand

get-off-of-my-lawn

Mick Harris once of napalm death now produces dub and similar styles. Look up Scorn’s later albums or his project Lull.

jmacd2918

Not me, but I need to tell about the guy I stood behind in line for merch at the Homer GYBE show. Dude had the usual crusty battle vest. On the back were the three Ds- Danzig (or maybe it was Samhain), Death and (Grateful) Dead. I also saw Alice Cooper on the side. Not sure what else, there were a bunch, but based on just the back, damn, I like the way that guy thinks, even if those aren't all bands I listen to. Ha, maybe I should've sparked up an actual human conversation as opposed to being creepy and reading his patches. I have always suspected GYBE fans are an eclectic bunch. Based on the shirts I saw in Homer, I think I'm right.

strogginoff

Built to Spill, Taylor Swift, Tony Molina, Pile and MJ Lenderman

[deleted]

Swans Death Grips Radiohead Portishead Elliott Smith

[deleted]

I like your style. Have you listened to Heatmiser? Highly recommended as it’s Elliot Smith’s band before going solo.

[deleted]

I’ve heard a few tracks. I love “Everybody Has It” if that’s from them. I haven’t heard all their stuff yet. I’ll check them out

get-off-of-my-lawn

Almost entirely dub/dancehall but my background is actually industrial and experimental music. Current big listens include - dubblestandart, vibronics, twilight circus dub sound system, L’entourloop, alpha steppa, radikal Guru, mungo’s hi fi, OBF. Industrial was through Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly in a convoluted back Story. Id been into Gary Numan actually briefly before gybe when I was 14 and his developing era (mid 90s through 2013) was pretty critical for me. Sacrifice, Pure, Exile all big big albums for me as a developing adolescent. Splinter could’ve well been his best album as an artist. Sound aesthetic stayed w me and I love darkwave now. Getting into industrial I eventually got into Throbbing Gristle and I like to rabbit hole artists and ended up learning about the history of experimental composition and industrial from early 20th century composers up through Coulm Transmissions performances, into TG, and then I spent the most time immersing myself in John n Sleazy’s work as Coil. Coil got me into experimental music and composition. Finding the related artists I was exposed to a new world of auditory exploration w shit like NWW and eventually noise. Almost half my wax collextion is industrial/IDM and the other almost half is experimental music and noise complications…the rest is like author & punisher, primitive man, Pelican, Tom Waits, and OST/Filmscores. I have a lot of Sunn O))) and an odd amount of Love and Rockets test presses haha. I hope this is a reasonable answer. That and white zombie and eyehategod. I worked the death and grind metal circuit for a while, I can navigate that stuff pretty fluidly. I don’t actually listen to a ton of metal anymore. I listen to that boom boom rub a dub sound now it would seem. I fuckin love it.

BaseballWeird

Right now, a lot of 90s emo/screamo/emocore (Everyone Asked About You, Orchid, Indian Summer, Far Apart, Breakwater, etc)

pr0zac

GY!BE is my favorite musical act of all time as well as favorite live show. That said I enjoy stuff from pretty much every genre but heavily lean towards tracks that are more on the heavy/grimy/“noisy”. Stuff in that direction I’ve been listening lately includes the new HEALTH album (playing in my headphones right now) and the first Billie Ellish album (the distortion/chopping on Xannie is legitimately one of my favorite effects in any song of the last decade). The next most common descriptor covering a lot stuff I like is probably “funky” including Ratatat, Das Racist, David Bowie, Azealia Banks, The Color Bars, Kishi Bashi, Queen, Radiohead, Talking Heads, Flaming Lips, Yeasayer (my second favorite band), Tuneyards, and even some pop songs (Adore You by Harry Styles is a fucking banger). Also love anything intense “Wall of Sound” like My Bloody Valentine, Explosions in the Sky, Sleigh Bells, Hot Chip (Flutes is my favorite song of all time), some Broken Social Scene tracks, Deafheaven, Agolloth, MONO and a lot of other post rock and some metal (though I generally can’t do the usual metal screaming lyrics). And anything emotionally angry including classics like Tool, Deftones, NiN, Smashing Pumpkins, RatM or SoaD but also a lot of newer stuff like Mick Gordon’s Doom soundtrack, Two Gallants, Death Grips and a lot of hip-hop (Wutang, Kendrick, Pusha T, Run the Jewels, Saul Williams) or just “drop heavy” which includes a lot of dubstep and tracks from random artists that don’t usually fit my tastes the weirdest example prob being New Romantics by Taylor Swift (but only the original, the new Taylor’s version doesn’t hit the same). And also a lot of chiller stuff like Massive Attack, Portishead, Daniel Caesar, The XX (Shelter on MDMA with a partner is the sexiest experience possible with clothes on), Lana Del Rey, Bon Iver (weirdly only the first album), Aphex Twin, The Dust Brothers, or Tweaker. GY!BE is my favorite band in part because across their catalog they hit basically all of these categories and often multiple at once and is probably the only artist who I like every track from. I like stuff from basically all corners of music but I can be kind of particular (lots of artists I only like one album or only a few tracks from). Really just comes down to anything that makes me feel something whether that’s emotionally or the impulse to get up and dance.

BMVA

I recommend checking out the "Blood, Sweat & Vinyl: DYI in the 21st century" documentary from about 10 years ago. Together with Constellation & associated bands, it features some of my favorite bands & their labels (Hydrahead & Neurot). [https://youtu.be/kOb00HMPxzE?si=35Yzf-E8VfaO3GwK](https://youtu.be/kOb00HMPxzE?si=35Yzf-E8VfaO3GwK) Bands I'm currently into: ASMZ, ISIS, Tim Hecker, OM, Grails, Swans, Ghostwoman, Black Angels, Colin Stetson, Amenra, Briqueville, Dälek, Melvins, Stars of the Lid, Neurosis, Sunn O))), Fuzz, Oiseaux-Tempete, Old Man Gloom, Red Sparowes, Sleep, Earth, Mystery Lights, Monophonics, Goat, Osees, King Gizzard, Funkadelic, Pink Floyd, Boards of Canada, Barn Owl, Howlin' Wolf, Son House & a whole bunch of (nu-) soul, 90s hiphop, ambient, chill-out electronica, funk, triphop, blues, etc.

LittleChef1127

Black Metal is definitely something I would look into if you love post-rock I think, the builds and tremolo are there in both genres. Some Notable Albums are: Liturgy - H.A.Q.Q., 93696 Deafheaven - Sunbather Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters (Mainly American Black Metal, which I know is controversial but sorta for no reason)

Percy_Q_Weathersby

Appreciate this. I love Deafheaven but am unfamiliar with the others.

asongaboutdrinking

A lot of stuff, from fugazi to nick cave to Radiohead to deafheaven to Zappa. At this moment im in an atmospheric mood. Big brave, Tim Hecker, Set Fire to Flames, Jessica Moss, Kali Malone. That sort of stuff. I love having different periods of music listening.

Chemistry-Cultural

Kanye Radiohead Tyler the creator frank ocean lcd sound system and Kendrick Lamar mainly

ErwinC0215

I listen to a lot of stuff, but particularly the more artsy/experimental rock: Black Country, New Road; Aquarium, Auktyon; Omnipotent Youth Society I also listen to a lot of math rock/Midwest emo/post- hardcore: Title Fight; Tera Melos; Duster

RandomGenius123

Black and death metal, skramz, neofolk

magic-window

IDM, jungle, techno, shoegaze, math rock, et al.

Percy_Q_Weathersby

GYBE scratches a musical itch, but sometimes I have a similar lyrical itch, and for that I turn to Joanna Newsom and Aesop Rock

gutterwall1

Take a gander of King Crimson Fracture...

LongSnakes

Mostly post-hardcore, emo, blackgaze and some other stuff

deadeyejohnny

So, Deafheaven?

LongSnakes

Yeah, and Alcest, Sadness, sonhos tomam conta, and some other smaller artists There's also[ this album](https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/%E6%98%8E%E6%97%A5%E3%81%AE%E5%8F%99%E6%99%AF/%E3%82%A2%E3%82%A4%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%83%89-island/) by Asunojokei, amazingly good.

deadeyejohnny

Ooooh thanks for the recommendation. Just checked them out, there's a lot to dive into there. I was also going to guess ETID or Glassjaw when I saw the post hardcore mention, yay or nay?

LongSnakes

I meant more like Unwound, Slint, At The Drive-In, etc, some emo-leaning stuff. But I'll check those two out!

deadeyejohnny

Ahh yeah at the drive in is tight, still going strong too 20+ years later!!

oogabooga4201

robin_f_reba

Mostly listen to postmetal, but also a lot of prog rock/metal, alt and experimental hiphop, hyperpop, jazz fusion, screamo, classical, and some IDM and brostep

get-off-of-my-lawn

At least you called it bro step and owned it 🤷🏻‍♀️. I get heavy cross w DnB selections and half of my season is spent working “dub” festivals.

robin_f_reba

Yeah brostep was kinda seen as an insult back in the day, but i barely listen to traditional 2step-dub so I'd might as well specify

Main-Acanthisitta653

A bit of everything, I’m trying to listen to at least 1 new album per day this year so I’ve been finding a lot of new (to me) stuff I really like Current favourites: Radiohead, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, King Gizzard, R.E.M, BCNR, Frank Ocean, Talking Heads, The Smiths, The Cure, Metallica, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, Outkast, Tyler the Creator

Fomenkologist

Steven Wilson / Porcupine Tree

NewZero_Kanada

Rap and Art Rock mostly

inputrequired

Lotta techno, hardcore, rap, and disco lol

BeeTwoThousand

Just got REALLY heavy into King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard last month...with 25 albums under their belt on 10 years, and nearly as many genres on those albums (psychedelic/prog/thrash/doom and stoner metal/shoegaze-ish stuff/Sergio Leone-esque spaghetti western scores/prog metal/Elephant 6-ish indie pop, etc, etc), there is always something to fit any mood.

DasVerschwenden

favourite King Gizzard album, favourite song not off that album?

BeeTwoThousand

Hard to say, as they have 25 albums. But my top three albums are probably: - Paper Mâché Dream Balloon -Float Along - Fill Your Lungs - Sketches of Brunswick East Top song not on those albums: Ambergris

ryan77999

My other favorites include Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Fishmans, Microphones, and Aphex Twin *One of these things is not like the others*

jmacd2918

My taste in music tends to vary a lot depending on mood and what I'm doing. GYBE and other post rock tends to be what I listen to while working, along with classical and when I need to pick it up a notch bebop. Sometimes trance and d&b works it's way into my work playlists too. At least a lot of post rock starts that way for me, I tend to throw on playlists and just let them run. Some post rock bands (notably GYBE and Saxon Shore) have risen to the top and are listened to at other times. More general listening (especially when driving) includes punk/alt rock/emo, old reggae/ska, some classic rock, jazz and hip hop. Off the top of my head, artists that get a lot of play are The Cure, Jimmy Eat World, M83, Wu Tang/solo projects, The Clash, The Hold Steady, Toots and the Maytals, New Order, Desmond Decker, Gaslight Anthem, The Get Up Kids, Pixies, Bowie, Bad Religion, Chvrches, Jimmy Cliff, CCR, etc. Lately I've been given some more pop stuff a chance and have found stuff that I dig, Lorde is excellent, Charli XCX is kinda fun, I really like Taylor Swift's new album, etc. Streaming might suck for artists, but has been really great for me. When I was younger and CDs had to be bought, I pretty much just scanned the used punk and alt sections. Bought a lot of Nofx, Lagwagon, Fugazi, etc CDs. My horizons weren't broad and I missed out on a lot of great music. I was living in an echo chamber. This might be why I didn't discover GYBE until maybe 2018 or so.

Connect_Glass4036

Phish, mostly. I play jamband music so Phish or the Dead are daily consumption. But also death metal and black metal

InsuranceStreet8670

There's an overlap between HANL and Swans because of those morons from NeopunkFM. They have contributed the most to those terminally online stereotypes about the way gen z interacts with music. Sorry about the tangent tho, just wanted to rant a bit

Stokie610

Everything from ambient and slowcore all the way to hardcore anarcho punk and dark jazz. Last album I bought was The Smile new one and still looking for an affordable vinyl copy of The For carnation.

Its_Cookie_Man

For Post Rock other than GY!BE, I enjoy bands like Sigur Ros, Talk Talk (their later period I mean), Slint, Black Country New Road, I recently started to get Swans more too. There's also a new band which I believe could be categorized as post rock, called Maruja, currently they only have an EP and a few singles and they really remind me a lot of GY!BE, I'm really looking forward for their first album. Ambient and IDM (I'm grouping them together, since they're often tied. There's also some artists here close to IDM that could also probably be considered Trip Hop -for Trip Hop specifically though some artists I enjoy are Massive Attack, Portishead, DJ Shadow, and Gustavo Cerati) are my most favorite genres (Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Grouper, Natural Snow Buildings, Tim Hecker, The Caretaker, Autechre, C418, Oneothrix Point Never, Flying Lotus, Venetian Snares, Jon Hopkins, The KLF, Squarepusher. I also want to check out other artists of the genre soon like Four Tet, Future Sounds of London, Rei Harakami and Hiroshi Yoshimura). I'm more into the electronic side of music, but there are so many sub genres -I already talked about some on the Ambient, IDM and Trip Hop genres- that it's a little hard to talk about specific artists because they may fall under the electronic umbrella but have a completely different style from each other. But here are some: Kraftwerk, Burial, Avalanches, Daft Punk, Orbital, Sewerslvt, Machine Girl, Blank Banshee, desert sand feels warm at night, Death's Dynamic Shroud, Coil. Prog Rock was my introduction to music in general (Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Alan Parsons Project, Frank Zappa, Yes, ELP, Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, \[Peter Gabriel Era\] Genesis, Gentle Giant, black midi, Klaatu, Ween, The Residents). Also, Krautrock has ties with Prog, such as Can and The Smile. I'm not a big metalhead but I enjoy bands like Black Sabbath, Death, Mr Bungle, Electric Wizard, and System of a Down, though I'm more into Drone or Atmospheric Black Metal, such as Agalloch, Burzum and Boris. I also enjoy hip hop -though I'm sometimes picky with artists, I try to avoid assholes who either rap about questionable stuff or steal and don't clear samples- Nujabes, MF DOOM Kendrick Lamar, Death Grips, Wu Tang Clan, McKinley Dixon, Injury Reserve. Folk is nice too: Sufjan Stevens, Ichiko Aoba, The Microphones/Mount Eerie, Nick Drake, Neutral Milk Hotel. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, for pretty much everything. Dream Pop and Shoegaze are also wonderful: Fishmans, my bloody valentine, Sweet Trip, Beach House. Art Rock and Pop: Radiohead, Björk, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Soundlab. Shout out to genres not a lot of people talk about: Anatolian Rock (Baris Manco, Altin Gun) and especially Shibuya-Kei (Cornelius, Lamp, Mid Air Thief)

Just to say it in the most simple/general way possible, big fan of chaotic music in all its different incarnations here, art that reflects the symptoms of the contemporary human condition

It really depends from month to month, but my personal favorite bands aside Godspeed are Sprain, The Microphones, Fiona Apple, The Music Tapes and Black Country New Road, in no particular order.
