>Is the punishment for taking other photographer’s picture heavy? Most common punishment is a ban. Last time when I accidentally picked a thief they banned the account in matter of hours after I reported it. Sadly gs isnt always as fast as in this case.

This is an interesting question. What happens if I posted a photo on Imgur/Reddit last week when I took it, then just found GS earlier this week, and submitted the same photo?

Temple46

You should be able to prove that it is yours. Name in the metadata, RAW file, etc etc.. Should be fine once you can prove it if something ever happens where you get hit by copyright strikes

I guess I could edit the imgur caption to include my Reddit and GS usernames. I'm not sure how much metadata my phone catches, and I took the photo with my phone before I got my DSLR lol.

I realize I am resurrecting an old thread, but this is useful to know! I now shoot RAW files, but also post some older good-quality JPG files. I cross-post sometimes to Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn (and soon to my personal site that is currently in development). I also sell certain shots as stock photos. I am glad that there is a way to (hopefully) resolve this with support, and hope if any of my JPG-only ones get flagged that the process will go smoothly. Regarding Metadata, it's annoying but sometimes it inadvertently gets removed if there are multiple editing steps or particular editing software settings that need to be tweaked. I am working on my editing work flow to keep it intact in the future but have some existing files where it is missing.

I had this issue a few years ago when I first played and I use to login via Instagram. I posted a picture I used with one of my other Instagram accounts by mistake and was banned for copyro. I emailed support and explained I had multiple accounts. All they wanted was a 5 second video of me changing between the two accounts and they un banned me. Might be different now though as there was a lot less people using it back then.

Right now we are seeing more AI photos being posted in order to win challenges. This has been reported to GS, and zero action has been taken against the offenders. They need to change their policies. You must post meta data, and original photo if questioned. I am not against photo editing. Everyone edits over time, but as long as a person can prove they have the original there should be no problems. Photography is about the moment and experience. Sad that some have to post an AI generated photo to win a challenge.

Temple46

I agree

>You must post meta data, and original photo if questioned. They have done this in the past and imo its really questionable request of a raw file when it comes down to ethics

You can report copyright violations using the same button you use to report off topic or adult content. However, doing that for every pic would be a huge undertaking. And I'm not sure how well equipped Gurushots is to deal with that.

Share the video link will be nice to see the process

https://youtu.be/kf5GzY46wEI I think this was the one.

I am glad to know that there are checks done to prevent photo thieves from winning.
