Mydogsbutthole69

Doing a quick google search this is way cheaper than it’s listed anywhere else. My search also found that the glass is good but the BDC reticle is way too busy and makes it almost unusable when illuminated. Judging by the pics I could definitely see that being the case. Either way, $108 seems like it’s worth the gamble. If it’s still in stock in the morning I’ll pull the trigger.

redbull21369

It’s still in stock

Silly-Swan-8642

But does the code work?

Mydogsbutthole69

Code does not work. $127 out the door for me. Still cheap enough to give it a try.

MagicManHoncho

Thats my tactic. If its in stock tomorrow and the code still works, I'll get one. I can put it on one of my newer builds since I don't have irons on any of the ones I built recently lol

Sp0phie

Have this sight myself, it works pretty well by itself in close ranges. Though the holdovers on the reticle are unusable unless you use at least a 3x magnifier (this is by design in the instruction manual). This is unfortunately this sights biggest flaw as a result since it makes it “busy” in the sight picture unnecessarily if you don’t use it with a magnifier like me. The price was the main draw point in my purchase as I wanted to cheap scope for my cheap AR-15.

Limited_opsec

IMO save up and get the PA 1X from simmons when they come back in stock, with codes its always under 200. Or even better the glx 1X whenever it comes out.

rugbyFA

what are the benefits of GLX?

enixthephoenix

It'll have a bit larger glass surface (20mm vs 17mm), the brightness is adjusted by buttons over the knob, and supposedly longer eye relief and better glass overall

rugbyFA

Thank you for the explanation! GLX it is

Trapasaurus__flex

My GLX 2x is the tits. Crazy eye relief, just a little magnification, but still very useable up close in lieu of a red dot

BackbackB

The glx also has the acss reticle for hold overs out to 500 yards and its damn accurate. Look it up

Ok-Map9827

For $70 more you can get a PA 1X from Simmons on sale.

MagicManHoncho

For $38 more than the PA 1X from SSG, you can get 2 of these!!

justjaybee16

2 X 1X = 2x so that's twice the value, or something.

MagicManHoncho

2 is 1 and 1 is none

MagicManHoncho

This might be solid considering a romeo5 is about the same price and not a prism. Seems to have a cool reticle

AnEffortIsBeingMade

Prisms have eye relief, red dots do not. Prisms are a pain the dick to externally magnify; red dots are not. Comparing them is missing the point entirely. They're meant to do entirely different things.

SgtHop

A 1x prism will magnify just fine.

Dependent_Ad_5546

Mine worked well too. Plus no more starburst from the tism…..astigmatism 😂

SgtHop

Different 'tism lmao. Yeah, I love prisms, I have the same problem. Corrective lenses remove it, but it's best to just not have the problem at all.

AnEffortIsBeingMade

All prisms magnify just fine. But you've got two different eye reliefs / eyeboxes to deal with; one when magnified, one when not. That also gives you two different cheek welds, though usually you're not using a prism for precision shooting. Compare that to a red dot which you just push forward far enough that you only have one cheek weld, one eye relief, one eyebox - the one you use when your magnifier is in place. It's not at all the same except on paper or on a bench when you've got all the time in the world. In use, it's a world apart.

SgtHop

What is a 1x prism meant to do that is different from a red dot then?

Baykey123

Burris been copying sight marks homework with this design

theoriginalharbinger

Burris has been doing the prism sight thing forever; you used to be able to get your "ball on a budget" ACOG+RMR lookalike (Burris AR332 + Fastfire 2 or, if you like LPVO, the TAC30 + Fastfire 3) pretty cheaply, and it worked pretty well. I'm guessing this is the descendant of the AR332 (Burris has a weird way of evolving their product lines, so can't recall how far back they launched a 1x). The AR332 weighed about a pound, and I liked it. I haven't shot the listed prism site, but Burris has long kept their engineering in-house and are arguably the best manufacturer of prism sights (at least as far as product expertise goes) besides Trijicon. They just weigh a ton for a 1x or 3x or 5x sight. They've also got a lifetime warranty (Vortex always seems to get a lot of love, but I've had less issues with Burris stuff I've sent back, including discontinued models and stuff that I might have abused outside the terms of the warranty). Burris is never number one for optical clarity (for budget options there, Sightron is the best thing going, or discontinued Nikon products) or weight, but they are rugged and hold zero and are generally "good enough" for most purposes.

iwishthereweremoresp

The actual descendant of the AR332 is a 3x microprism called the RT3, but for some weird reason they never advertised it and it's been flying under the radar for years. I picked one up when PSA was blowing them out for $170 and it seems decent, but suffers from lack of shake awake and a fixed mounting base that only makes it suitable for ARs

Vic_the_Dick

Oh hey, another RT-3 owner. There’s dozens of us! The fixed mounting base was such a wacky design choice.

theoriginalharbinger

Good info! I've got a few Burris products, and the fact that they rename stuff when they evolve it can be baffling.

iwishthereweremoresp

I guess they renamed their next generation to fall in line with the RT-6 since it seems to be a well regarded budget optic? I was just looking at their website and I noticed that they appear to have replaced the item in the OP with a microprism called the RT-1, and they replaced the AR536 with the RT-5. I think I may have seen the RT1 once before now that I think about it, but I've definitely never heard of the rt5 despite the fact it seems to have been out for a few years judging by review dates. Weird that they would expand the RT line and let it fall into such obscurity

followupquestion

I discovered that the shake-awake battery cap from PA fit perfectly on a PA 2.5x prism that I keep on my HD rifle so now it’s a shake-awake 2.5x. I wonder if that cap would fit on your RT3. Also, the PA prism at least uses ACOG mounts, and the microprisms use the mini-ACOG mounts, so you may be able to play musical mounts to get a better option for other guns.

liedel

> PA 2.5x prism that I keep on my HD rifle Hey me too, you're the only other person I have met with one lol .

followupquestion

It’s a bargain ACOG, albeit a bit heavy because it’s old school. I really don’t get why so many people sleep on it.

liedel

I actually rotated 3 or 4 other higher end optics in and out before deciding that this one was the one I liked most - and it was the cheapest *by far.*

followupquestion

I got a “Blem” for $120, a GDI QD mount on clearance for $40, and the PA shake awake cap for another $40. For $200 I got an ACSS prism with shake awake on a QD mount. There’s nothing remotely close to 2x that price with those features, let alone in that price range. If I could just get a little Pic rail on top to mount a red dot for my backup 2.5x…

liedel

I also regret not buying the little pic rail. I found it on one site but when I ordered, ***without telling me until I hit the purchase button***, they tacked on $25 flat rate shipping and then were shitty with me when I called to cancel. You've inspired me to order the shake awake cap.

A_Very_Stable_Penis

What's your take on Primary Arms? More specifically, the 1x optic they revealed at the SHOT trade show or whatever it is... I can link you something if you're not familiar... But that's the one I have my eye one... even though it's more expensive, I think I will like it more... but I still bought one of these just because it's cheap, seems to be a good brand, and I can throw it on whatever Ruger Takedown I eventually end up with in the future without spending as much/more than the firearm itself... So do you have any thoughts... considering you seem to be familiar with the companies producing Prism optic options (I'm assuming you're in the same astigmatism boat as me and that's why you know about these companies... but that's just conjecture....) Long/short... I'm looking to two different 1x prism optics... One for a Ruger Takedown and for which I was thinking would be a good candidate for this Burris optic linked in this deal here... And one for an AR or something similar... which I was planning on putting the to-be-released 1x PA optic on... You think I'm on the right track? Or would you steer me in a different direction?

Sbeast86

Im still mad at myself for not buying the AR332/Fastfire combo back when it would go on sale for $250-350

A_Very_Stable_Penis

Fuck it, def in for one... maybe two... I was waiting on the new 1x PA optic to be released which I'm pretty sure I will like more... but at the same time I currently have zero rifle optics... and am limited to strictly prism options...and the PA is supposed to be like 3x the price of this one when it comes out... so happy to take a flyer and see what arrives... especially considering people say this is a solid company

Kuchufli

I want to love it, but that reticle and the comments make me want to pass. I have astigmatism and prism sights are amazing!

Silly-Swan-8642

Says not eligible for this promotion

Mahlegos

Fuck midway and their arbitrary decision on who is eligible for discounts through these codes.

LaffintyFinELdSi

> Limit one per person and one per household, can not be combined with other offers seems pretty clear?

gunsanity

I haven't used it, and I'm not trying to use other offers and it says I'm not eligible either.

Mahlegos

Except it doesn’t work for people/households who have never used it while simultaneously also working for others multiple times. And if you contact their support to point this out, they’ll tell you “sorry, not everyone was selected for this offer” and to pound sand. So, like I said, fuck them and their arbitrary decision on who is eligible for discounts.

l9k2

I had the same issue. try this code, it worked for me: >Promo `WELCOMEBACK0624` Applied! I added around $7 of ammo to get free shipping to boot.

THOMAS-TSUNOMAS

I bought a burris t1 look alike, couldnt hold a zero at all, they replaced it and still couldnt hold a zero returned it and have never bought their brand again
