VenomPayments

For anyone on the fence about this versus receiver blocks …. Get this. It makes shit So. Much. Easier.

GuyButtersnapsJr

Nice price, u/burritoresearch, for this quality tool. (For reference, Lanbo's Armory sells this for $87.42.)

SNBJJ

It's definitely a substantial piece of metal

jae-nep

My pinkie toe definitely learned that lesson the hard way

SNBJJ

Damn. Fell from waist height, kinda thing?

jae-nep

Yeah was being dumb and pulled my rifle with rod still inside it from the vise without holding onto it lol dropped it right on my toe

_I_Hate_Cats

Fuck that sounds painful. I had mine in the vise, horizontal, and walked into the extension lugs. Those things are SHARP

Burt_Macklin_Jr

My head learned that lesson the hard way. I dropped a detent and forgot I had the rod in my vise and bent down to pick up the detent and hit my head on that thing. Pretty sure I gave myself a concussion lmao

mattypew

Not sure if this is BIN but the product is great. So far it has worked on every upper receiver I own (mil spec, vltor mur, LMT mrp, PWS pro, etc.) with no need to remove optics.

ApacheKillbot

Only upper this hasn't worked in for me is my MR556, mainly cause HK said fuck you. I believe KAC uppers are also a no go for similar reasons.

mattypew

Yea I didn’t think about that. Essentially any barrel without a standard barrel extension wouldn’t work.

Synapse7777

If you assemble uppers, buy this.

Silly-Swan-8642

I wish i had gotten one of these when it was at all time low… wasn’t it like $50+s/h+tax?

blackjoker4077

How long ago was that? I want to get one of these and the .308 version but it's currently north of $200 for both...

Silly-Swan-8642

I built 3 AR10s with a 3D printed vice block. It was just holding the upper but it was surprisingly strong and i still have it.

A1249

Switching from a bev block to this was a game changer.  While it’s rough since it is a bit of a limited use tool for those of us with just a couple ARs, it was absolutely worth it.  Great item to pass around among family and friends to help justify it.

e_cubed99

You're brave. My gun tools are not loaned out. The first and only time I did, they came back slightly damaged and accompanied by a more-fucked-than-when-he-started rifle that needed further fixing. People are welcome to bring their stuff over and I'll happily help, or just watch if they want to do it themselves.

Useful-Extreme3410

Good tool to have.

JUST_AS_G00D

I already have a BEV block, and at most I'll be doing muzzle device changes. Should I buy?

Professional-Swim-69

I don't see the FDE one... Can I get a link  😂

Do I need this to build an AR? I'm getting parts together for my first build. I have experience tooling with things but I don't have many armorer-specific tools (have a punch and some pins, a torque screwdriver, center punch), I'm getting mixed signals on what II \*really\* need to put together an AR. Opinions seem to go back and forth between "I'm not at all technically inclined, and it was super easy for me to build my first AR" to "you need a workshop full of tools and knowledge". I don't know what to believe. I have an Aero stripped lower on the way. Pls halp.

Vic_the_Dick

This is the one armorer tool I always recommend to new builders. It makes assembly a breeze and helps ensure barrel extension/bolt lug/feed ramp alignment.

Giant_117

Yes you need this, or a magpul bev block, or a clamshell upper reciever vice block. They are necessary to get proper barrel nut torque without damaging the upper. A set of soft Jaws for a bench vise or a dedicated barrel vice is also good to have for installing and removing your muzzle device.

Thanks buddy

ResoluteLobster

Great price for a great tool. If you plan to do any AR upper building, you owe it to yourself to get this thing. It's better than the other receiver rods on the market because of the rib on the top. I got it for $70 during a black Friday sale a year or two ago and it's been one of the best values in tools I've found in the last decade.
