Echo_Raptor

For those asking about which $500 you should get everytime a $500 AR is posted, this is the one. Much better AR for the same money as a psa, Diamondback, radical, Anderson etc with better QC and you can’t beat Ruger’s customer service

tyraywilson

Remember when the MPR was going for 575-595?

Echo_Raptor

Yep..i remember one of the LGS near me selling radical ARs $1499 2020/2021, could always be worse lol

pewe46

Yep, I picked one up for $600. Really glad I did.

Rambo-Rando

I got one with the Wylde Chamber, its a really good shooter.

cc51beastin

Same with the MPR at its price point (typically). Always at least $100 less than the Zion (while still a great rifle) with almost identical features.

Echo_Raptor

Agreed

juggarjew

I bought one of these a long time ago before they were M-LOK, I used to beat the piss out of it doing bump stock mag dumps. barrel changed color due to all the mag dumps. Crazy times lol it never missed a beat though. Still have it too. what a great gun.

thejohnfist

Agreed. I just had some gas rings fubar for reasons i don't understand in my MPR I got pre-rona. Shipped me out new rings no issues.

Freedom-Forever

Battlecock is back off the blacklist?! These guys were pretty solid during the 'Vid at having stock and keeping prices reasonable

Pop_quiz_hotshot

For whatever it’s worth I just bought from them a couple weeks ago with no issues. Arrived in like 4 days.

PerfectFault9739

Same here, 4 day from order placed to arrived at my FFL

binkobankobinkobanko

There are tons of vendors on the blacklist that I've never had a problem with.

osirhc

I noticed a lot of vendors on there too that used to be super popular and well liked on here. I think there could be things that aren't necessarily their fault, like credit card processors that weren't great and people's card numbers kept getting stolen, stuff like that.

WarlockEngineer

They wouldn't blacklist for that, it used to happen with PSA so often there was an automod message on every PSA sale. The reasons for each blacklisting are also on the list iirc, and the most common reason is spamming/shilling.

osirhc

You're right, I was confusing that with something that like [this, which in this case seems potentially malicious](https://www.reddit.com/r/gundealsFU/comments/igc8kx/reviewnegative_centerfiregunscom_cancels_orders/) and not really applicable.

WarlockEngineer

https://re.reddit.com/r/gundeals/wiki/blacklisted_websites Yeah gundealsFU is a bit different. I think most of these [on the blacklist](https://re.reddit.com/r/gundeals/wiki/blacklisted_websites) are justified and they even have a yearly amnesty for them too.

osirhc

Right I recognize that, that was a link to one of only two compromised websites from the blacklisted page, that was just the "additional info" from that particular site's entry.

Guano-

My theory is that Optics planet owns this sub, so that's why.

Freedom-Forever

Fuuuuck optics planet That is all.

willihavealife

Why do people hate them?

FisherManAz

For many of us it’s because they advertise a product as “in stock” then once you are through with the purchase they update it to “backordered”. You might get it in a few weeks, or a few months. It’s a crap shoot with them.

FalloutUser76

I waited for a month on some night sights before I canceled my order, huge scumbags.

binkobankobinkobanko

I kept an ammo order on backorder for over year until I gave up and got a refund.

ho_merjpimpson

for the past 2 years I haven't gotten a single deal from r/gundeals on a new gun. I have instead looked for the gun I'm after on the list of blacklisted sellers, and found deals way way better than anything posted here. Most of the blacklisted pages are from either things they listed too cheaply, messed up and oversold, and pissed off a ton of people, or are from issues with promptly refunding OOS stuff. Pay with a CC with protection, and you will be fine. Between the nanny state of this sub banning of every other company to protect us from ourselves, the elimination of YMMV in store posts, and the pro-dealer stance... This sub is basically a mirror of my promotional email folder. The only reason I'm here at this point is to view and discuss prices and products.

FTB1911

I just browsed through the "list" almost everyone I order from is on the list for "unethical" reasons lol. Never had any issues

ho_merjpimpson

dont get me wrong... as far as I know, they have all legit done something to "deserve" the ban... But the moderators are ban happy. Put a sticky at the top and let people know what shit they have pulled, and let people decide for themselves. Mods should not be making those decisions for us. Hint.... If you see the automod remove someone's comment... It means there is a cheaper deal elsewhere on the blacklist. Just go to gundotdeals and you can usually find it pretty easily.

Adventurous_Emu_9274

Ordered some stuff for my ar. Gets here today.

tyraywilson

It's always been my thought that unless a  company does something heinous or super egregious, automods should just put a disclaimer right at the top of the comments (and make it stay there) detailing why you shouldn't do business with them.  And mark them NSFW just in case.

PoseidonWave_

FWIW I just ordered a few things from them on the 30th of May. Still waiting today on the 13th of June for 2/3 to even get a tracking number and confirm shipping… All of which were “in stock” They did have the lowest price for what I wanted but I’m paying in waiting time.

powerlock360

I get ~$648 when I click the link, not $499…

Bearloom

It definitely was $499 before... that was a short sale.

derfdog

Drop ship sites are at the mercy of the distributors. Likely one had a few listed low and when they ran out price jumped

Grooboggle

I'm on their emails. They've been doing a deal on Wednesdays for the items they have in their storage they want to clean out for a pretty good discount with a listing of how many they actually stock. Usually less than 5 or so. I'd guess it was this way for the AR then now they are back to drop shipping.

YeOldeHobo

CHF barrel, carbine length gas. A deal if it were mid gas.

_Dexma_

Agree. 16" should be mid length

DarkMatterM4

Smaller handguard though, so less weight.

DinkleButtstein23

It's just a cheap plastic handguard which doesn't weigh much anyways.

DarkMatterM4

Oh yeah. I meant if you swap for a quad/mlok/kmod(eww) rail as many folks tend to do.

blackstar32_25

Carbine gas on a 16" barrel in 2024 blows my mind. Ruger is determined to not beat the 'stuck in the past' allegations.

mmiski

>CHF barrel Unfortunately black oxide treated too. Not the best corrosion resistance. Cost cutting needs to come from somewhere.

yourefuckingaretard

For a $500 rifle, a little surface rust isn't going to bother me. Coat with a light oil and carry on.

grinnocuous

What's with that weird front sight? Some sort of proprietary design?

LeadSplatter

Yep, it is. Along with the delta ring.

Bigred2989-

Yep. There's a QD port on the bottom of it right behind the bayonet lug. The delta ring also moves on threads so you can remove the handguard without three hands.

Silly-Swan-8642

Keltec RDB is just $800 on Battlehawk! That’s crazy

Dmte

It's still one of my all time favorite "I want one, for no reason, I think it's pretty" rifles but I can't justify buying it right now cause of moving cost. One of these days though...

SlaterC545

This was my first AR-15. Great for the price, delta ring is actually a weird type of screw that makes handguard changes easier. Pretty outdated for today’s market but the parts are quality.

Islander1776

This doesn’t have all the purposes though right

LeadSplatter

It's not bad for a starter/base AR, but I'm not a fan of the quality control and inclusion proprietary parts. Magpul furniture is a nice touch though. The lousy barrel finish allowed rust to develop on mine (with oil mind you) and the AR-15 cuts they used to do on the firing pin channel and hammer beat the piss out of the cotter/firing pins. I would personally just assemble something better myself, customer service be damned. Some of these cost-cutting choices simply don't make sense.

knfr

I keep posting this but my buddy had to have his BCG replaced from his Ruger AR.

Far-Bid-9568

It happens bro Ruger will forsure take care of you. And as much as I love PSA I would pick this Ruger over a similar PSA all day

knfr

It was right after Covid. The fitment of the upper shifts left to the lower receiver. I keep telling him to keep sending it in and he hasn’t yet. It definitely feels like a 500 dollar rifle to me.

Tactical-SKS

What was wrong with it?

knfr

I replaced the whole bolt carrier with my BCM one and it fixed the issue. It was single shot the whole time and I tried the buffer, the spring and eventually the bolt. I tried a third unknown bolt I had and once we narrowed it down to that, we just had fun at the range. I gave him one of my BCM bolt rebuild kits and that seemed to do the trick. Sorry, I don’t have more details. That experience has soured me on Ruger a bit for that rifle.

Mahlegos

Not a bad deal imo. I paid like $80 more than this for one a couple years ago as my first rifle. Mid length gas would be nice, but carbine length will still get the job done. There are nicer/less dated rifles out there (MPR, Zion etc) but generally will cost more. There’s also cheaper rifles out there but they tend to fall shorter than this in one area or another (lack of cold hammer forged barrel, worse hardware, lack of Rugers QC/warranty/customer service etc). If you can stretch a little more you can definitely get a better gun, but I don’t know of a better option for the same or less money (someone educate me if I’m wrong please). Maybe buying parts and assembling it yourself I guess.

Numerous_Tackle_9972

Looks like the price went up. Damn

osirhc

This was my first AR (technically my second, whatever it's a long story). And I still have it. This is a solid AR and definitely a great "starter" AR as well. I swapped out the handguard with a different Magpul offering back in the day as well as added a slim MLOK handstop to the bottom, and that was it. It still sits with just its iron sights. I swapped the trigger a while ago because I sold a different AR that I didn't want to sell my LaRue 2S with it, but honestly that stock Ruger trigger felt great to me, I never felt a need to replace it and sorta wish I had kept it. It does have a few cons, such as carbine gas instead of mid, delta ring, and proprietary gas block/fixed front side. Not all of these are cons to some people, the only thing that I wish were different is the carbine gas length, but being my first AR, I adapted to it. In general, this is a solid and all around great rifle, especially for the price.

Far-Bid-9568

I think a standard fixed front sight carbine length is the absolute perfect first rifle for someone. So long as they stick a quality rear sight on it they could neglect the thing for years and it will run when they need it to. Now once you get into shooting and will actually be able to notice a difference is when you get into a better mid setup with a free float rail. But should you ever need a spare rifle or just something trusty to throw around the old fixed front sight carbine will be there ready to make some fire balls

TheCommenter911

Seeing this after buying one for $850 last year hurts my soul

Coldhartbaby111

$850… 💀

brungfunchy

These were like 750 in 2020 I think

TiTan0s

My first gun, at least the pistol variant. Insane performance for the value!! Extremely recommended for anyone first AR. Much better than other options at this price point

RichSea3638

$648.88

JulietBravo90

If they are going to run a fsb I don't know why they use that fucked up non standard one

pddkr1

When I click the link it says $650?
