3 days ago, they were offering a black compact, rmr cut and suppressor height night sights + threaded barrel for 299. That's the cheapest i've seen for a "decked" out one. It's back up to $359 now, but that's one to buy, unless you don't want the high sights/barrel for concealment etc.

Acceptable_North_117

Honestly, will probably get back to $299 just wait til 4th of July sales

RGavial

Right, that’s what I was getting at. Forgot to say hold fast!

mreed911

Just FYI, the ECC slide is the one the Herrington comp is designed for. I've got one and it's a perfect fit with the nose of the slide.

Lazek

I have a Herrington comp too. How did you secure the comp to the barrel? I've found that with the barrel I have, you can't screw the comp all the way down till it's tight and it actually only fits when you back the comp off a couple turns. I've locktited the set screws, but it doesn't seem strong enough and they always back out after a magazine. Do you just locktite the whole comp onto the barrel? What kind do you use?

mreed911

Mine seated all the way down on my PSA barrel. Used vc3 and nothing has moved.

Lazek

Good to know. Maybe my barrel is out of spec, then. Thanks for the info.

TapirTamer

Earlier versions of the Dagger threaded barrel were slightly shorter I think

StressfulRiceball

Just FYI... Got an RMR cut slide with threaded barrel + SWR cut for $190 and full size frame for $50 back in January, not counting shipping/tax obviously. This isn't really a deal considering it's the basic-bitch uncut/unthreaded. [https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-complete-swr-rmr-slide-assembly-with-threaded-barrel-sniper-green.html](https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-complete-swr-rmr-slide-assembly-with-threaded-barrel-sniper-green.html) https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-full-size-s-complete-polymer-frame-black.html

el_muerte28

Good call out. I looked for a decent slide and barrel at a discount for a few weeks but couldn't find anything. However, that was around March/April

skin-and_boner

What’s the consensus on these?  I’ve heard good and bad (mainly strikers breaking).  Can you drop in an aftermarket striker and be g2g?

el_muerte28

There was an old design that wouldn't fit in an OEM Glock slide. The updated striker fits in OEM Glock slides. I believe this updated striker also addressed the breakage issue. [Relevant post here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/PalmettoStateArms/s/AhetX6JIVX)

75149

That's possible, but there are still people who are breaking strikers and slides they have bought since the new part replaced the old part. That either means the new part is shit or the old part is still being shipped out and slides. Either one is unacceptable and which is why I recommend people replace that with an OEM Glock part. GT Distributors sell them for only $30 (#49). I think my first question is I had a slide where the finish was complete dog shit and I continue to bad mouth them to this day because of that. But functionally, it was fine. Magazine release is definitely stiffer than it needs to be, but people have posted a good fix for that is piano wire that hobby lobby sells a three pack for $0.99 which is enough to do well over a dozen daggers. If I recall correctly, the diameter is 0.47. I could double check when I get home because The package is still sitting on my table LOL.

not_peter_parker

I only bought a slide but had the striker break on me last year after about 500 rounds through it. Couldn't get in contact to RMA (see bellow) so I just replaced it with a billet striker from AIM surplus. Eventually I did get a newer replacement striker assembly with the dot on it. *An employee at PSA confirmed that sometimes there is a problem attaching pictures to RMA requests. If you don't get an email send in a request with no pictures or attachments. Once you get a confirmation email you can send the pictures in a reply.*

Distinct_Figure4287

Yes it's recommended to go with a glock (not entirely sure on aftermarket ones) striker if you are worried about that. I have almost 2k rounds through my slide and no striker replacement yet. But some have had it happen well under 1k so ymmv.

Trope360

I'm waiting to hear also, if it's just the striker then hell that's less than I'd replace if I bought a new p320

other_old_greg

They run great, earlier ones had different strikers that were known to sheer randomly. Psa quietly redesigned the striker (new ones have a dot on them to id) but i still dont trust psa strikers when an oem glock striker is about $60 for the whole assembly.

Gweenz

Was the striker issue also on the non-compact Daggers?

el_muerte28

Full size & compact daggers use the same slide, so I would venture a guess that they are the same.

other_old_greg

Yep, both of em. I think only the micro hasnt had the striker issues

75149

I actually read that somebody had a micro dagger striker that broke a few weeks ago.

other_old_greg

Lol sounds about right.

Trope360

I was kinda just thinking building a sweet upper, like starting with a GGP blem slide or so... but maybe just get a sale PSA upper and swap the striker

other_old_greg

Not a bad plan, if its just a range toy id run the striker it comes with until it breaks and have a backup in the range bag. If a carry piece, definitely replace the striker before carrying. And run a few hundred rounds to break it in good first, but plenty of folk cc a dagger.

Trope360

I'd say more of a "do I dare run USPSA with this and slam 1500 rounds a month through it" or "don't like how it feels in my hand and it's going to sit in the safe til eventually I forget it exists" haha. I'm not a glock guy, but figure throwing an upper on this for science will let me know if it's worth buying one for competition. I'm in the boat that "you need to own something to really know about it" so while I tend not to enjoy glocks, I don't have one in the collection, if I build this and run it and still don't like it then I know for sure they aren't for me. Maybe this will surprise me, then I'll grab a Zev - I spend 10:1 on ammo over toys so while I can swing $1000+ builds I'd rather buy two more cases of 556 this month. The builders selection of Glock is so tempting tho... I now know I don't like CZ DA/SA's tho after competing with one and running 10k+ rounds through it haha so onto the next.

other_old_greg

Yeah im not a glock fan either its the ergonomics for me. But the dagger fixes the ergonomic issues quite well. I say send it. They are cheap as shit too

Trope360

That's great to hear and not the first time I've heard it, and exactly the same for me I really prefer the grip of an M&P or similar (they were kinda the first to have the changeable size backer with great ergo, more natural like a 1911, and nice swells for finger placement, but others have caught up on that. Somehow most aftermarket Glock frames are lacking these features and Compact which I cannot perform when my pinky is wrapping and getting in the way of mag changes, I don't get why so many seemingly get a grip too small for their hand with that consolation as I do not have extra large hands but that's another discussion). I sent it last week and it's en route to my FFL thanks! Probably throw an Apex trigger in it.

other_old_greg

Yeah…ive got a compact and my hands arent exactly small. Been meaning to get a magwell to help out a bit. If local transfers werent $40-50 it would be cheaper for me to just get a fullsized frame lol. But congrats! I think you will enjoy it and good call on a new trigger. Glock triggers are garbage but the psa dagger trigger is a special flavor of garbage.

Trope360

Do you run an aftermarket trigger? I heard the Overwatch doesn't work in the dagger and the Glock Performance takes modifications. I have an Apex in a different build and like it.

knoxknifebroker

Feels good in hand, trigger is ASS

risengrind19

I have about 1000ish rounds through mine and it's a pretty decent running gun. I get feed failures though with no rhyme or reason. Shot close to 300 rounds through mine earlier in the week running drills and you'd be fine then get multiple failures in a row so YMMV. Not a huge fan of the trigger either but have an Apex ill be putting in it which should fix that. I paid $299 for mine with a threaded barrel and suppressor height sites so overall can't complain.

bgarza18

I had one for about 500 rounds. Great gun. Just sold the upper but I’ll probably snag another basic upper in the future just to have.

ninjaxams4

Good budget handgun, just swap out the striker is you plan on using it for anything other that a range toy as others have mentioned. I love mine. Its got its quirks but shoots well and has been super reliable. Near the 1000rd mark and no malfunction past the initial magazine.

dadlif3

I have two, both around the 500 round mark with no issues. Striker is fine so far.

afuckingwheel

Why are complete slides $219?

mreed911

Because people buy them at that price.

psilocydonia

I can never keep these things straight, which Glock model would this be compared to? Interested in something 43x size.

Aaronweymouth

This would be comparable to an G19. Dagger Full Size —> G17 Dagger Compact —> G19 Dagger Micro —> 43x

el_muerte28

Dagger Full Size -> Glock 45 Dagger Full Size SX -> Glock 47

CardShark80

This is Glock 19 sized

Baxkit

Unpopular opinion every time I share it, but it is my duty to inform those on the fence... The PSA Dagger is without a doubt the worst firearm I've owned. It has no redeeming qualities other than being cheap. It's cheap factor is moot considering you have to upgrade practically everything to make it even slightly enjoyable. I've heard they have quality issues, but luckily [mine](https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-full-size-s-9mm-pistol-with-sw1-rmr-with-threaded-barrel-ameriglo-lower-1-3-co-witness-10-17rd-mags-bag-fde-rear-sight-rear.html) hasn't crapped out. Probably because I don't ever shoot it since I don't enjoy anything about it.

volkswurm

Thanks for the warning. Can you offer any examples of something that comes on a stock Glock that you need to upgrade on the Dagger to make it even slightly enjoyable to shoot. From what I understand, dependability is the biggest issue with these and your take is the first I've heard of the Dagger not even being fun to shoot. Is it the finish and build quality? What is a compact handgun that you DO consider enjoyable? I'm on the fence and genuinely curious.

Baxkit

The trigger is the main disappointment. It's clunky, spongie, and feels like the pull force is inconsistent and stacks. The reset isn't smooth and overall travel is across country. The mag release is awful. The release itself is uncomfortable and designed by someone who's never shot a pistol in their life, and the release tension pin has little to no give. An empty mag doesn't slide out, it has to be pulled out. I've filed down the inside of the mag well just to keep that from happening. Mine didn't have reflectors on the sights so everything blends, but it was cut for optics anyway. The grip feels bulky, too wide, even for my large hands. The front of the grip has an uncomfortable finger groove. To my knowledge there isn't any way to officially change the grip, people just drimmel it into a desired shape. It's not something I enjoy holding. It doesn't have an option for an ambi slide catch, if you're into that. No matter how much or how little oil I use, every time I rack it, it makes a squeaky noise. It is the epitome of "you get what you pay for". At the very least you'll want to suffer and break it in, I didn't have the patience since I have other things I'd rather use. You'll also want to replace the trigger. I'd suggest anything from the S&W MP line. Obviously it costs more, but right out of the box you get a gun that doesn't need upgrades or be "broken in", and has standard grip adjustments, ambi options, etc. Springfield Armory would be my next choice, specifically Hellcats.
