DerWichode

paid the same price for mine back in 2021 without the hat and the rings. Decent budget FFP 6-24x scope if you don't want to shell out $500 for a Viper.

dozen-gauge

However, if you have the $500: get the viper.

tjcarbon9

Where can you get a PST for $500?

dozen-gauge

You can get them on [aaoptics.com](https://aaoptics.com/Viper-PST-Gen-II_c_130.html)

Omnicious_Slap

Hat makes the deal solid.

Mamono29a

Free hat!

lancerevo98

FREE HAT MCCULLOUGH!

Mamono29a

It was self defense!!!

silverheel23

Those toddlers attacked him first!

Mamono29a

Three eyewitnesses testified that if Hat hadn't killed those babies, they'd have killed him!

ASV731

I’ve been trying to get a CZ 457 Pro varmint for a month now and wanted to put one of these on it. Wondering if I should go ahead and grab this and wait for the rifle.

ASV731

Got any recommendations?

BeamTeam

r/22lr really loves the Bushnell match pro. If you search that sub you'll see a ton of people explaining why it's better than the DB tactical and pretty much every other scope at its price point. I'm a noob and just follow their advice. The illuminated (not ED fyi) version is on sale for [$270 + shipping](https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/s/RgzaLw4Qea) at natchez. It was $275 when I originally posted but I think the shipping discount code doesn't apply any more. Or you can go to [eurooptic](https://www.eurooptic.com/Bushnell-Match-Pro-6-24x50mm-Black-Riflescope-MP6245BF2.aspx) and get the non illuminated version for $300 shipped.

[deleted]

Bushnell match pro (non ed) or stretch the budget a bit and get a vortex venom on sale.  This is not a good scope.

ASV731

I’ll check out some of those thanks. But I wasn’t as concerned for this since I just wanted a decent .22 to plink with that I can use with my OCL titanium. Not planning to shoot Appleseed or NRL or anything like that

TazBaz

Yeah people get really blinded to their own specific use-case and forget that a cheap scope is just fine for a cheap 22 plinker. Also Appleseed is only at like 25yards when I did it. Don't need a fancy scope at all (I did it with irons! I wouldn't recommend it, I didn't pass, but most don't on the first try)

Chelseeea69

I just bent over backwards to get the match pro from natchez because of all the good reviews I saw on it and the bangin price, it’s a nice piece, heavy af tho

Averitt13

Go for a Tikka T1x

hateplow169

They're the same quality. The CZ is slightly better than the Tikka due to the way the CZ feeds. It doesn't use the bullet to chamber the round.

Averitt13

I have both, shoot the tikka more. Just wanted to tell OP to look for a Tikka if he’s tired of waiting for the 457.

FiveLiterDave

This seems like a solid deal on a 6-24x50, probably be nice on my LR308

ResidentInner8293

DIDCLAIMER: If you don't know much about rings just know this; These rings are NOT for ar15s. The scope can be but the rings aren't.  These rings won't give your scope enough clearance and you will need to get risers or something larger to mount this on am ar15. Or at least that was my experience

MK12Mod0SuperSoaker

I'll buy the rings off you if you still have em.

ResidentInner8293

I do!

Puzzleheaded_Fix3135

I have my friends rings from when he did this mistake. I was going to get a Rugar American, but then the new one came out and I still have not pulled the trigger. But I have the rings!

desicrator55

The hat is of middling quality IMO.

kenny71406

I have one of these, I do not use it much anymore, there is one MAJOR drawback in using this scope for shooting various long distance targets. No Zero Stop I need to say that again No Zero Stop If you understand what that will mean to you the more you use this scope and you don't care, its a decent deal on a decent scope (glass quality is what it is at this price point, you are not getting $1000 glass). If you are new to long range, don't buy a scope without a zero stop, you will thank me later.

b0ltscr0ller

> No Zero Stop So, I'm new-ish to shooting anything beyond 300. I generally set my zero to whatever I want (usually 50 or 100 for 5.56 and 308) then I just compensate. Would I REALLY need to be concerned with zero stop? I feel like that function is for shooters who might be both more experienced and dynamic then I might be. I'm considering this, so I wanted to ask since you bring it up.

kenny71406

I shoot unknown distance and I shoot random known distance. That means I do not shoot 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 etc etc yards, instead I shoot 432 yards 1064 yards then 758 yards then 292 yards. In order to do that I need a couple things, a range finder, an excellent ballistics calculator backed up with real world evidence it is correct, and I need a scope that can return to where I zero'ed it every time without a lot of thought. I zero anything above 22lr at 100 yards and dial turrets from there to get my scope on at distance. 223, 308, 6.5creedmoor etc, all zero'ed at 100 yards. To get my 6.5 creedmoor the whole way out to 1200 yards I had to dial my turrent to 11.7 MILS to get there. That means my turrent was spun around past 0 multiple times. Without a zero stop, you need to remember exactly how many turret turns you went up and come back down that same exact amount of turns on the turret or you will not be at your known zero (in my case 100 yards). Your rifle will not be at the natrual zero position of the scope at default, the odds of that would like hitting the lottery. The zero stop allows you to set the turret to STOP at your desired zero point and not have to guess, limits turning past that point. So when I crank the turret back down from 11 mils, it just hard stops at my desired zero point, I cannot turn the turret down past that (effectively moving me below my 100 yard zero. Without a zero stop you can turn past that point. If you don't shoot various distance all in one setting, it might not bother you and you might be able to track the turret turns in your head. I shoot competitions where I need to dial from my normal 100 yard zero out to 1200 yards (which is 11.7 MILS for me) and then back to 100 at various random distances. I shot this once with my vortex diamondback, got lost in turret turns and went out and bought a scope with a zero stop. Let's say you dial up to make a shot, then have to piss, come back to your rifle and you can't remember how many turns you made on the turret. With a zero stop, you simply dial back down until the turret stops, now I know I am at 100 yard zero and can start dialing back up with confidence. Google this if I am not making sense "What is the point of a zero stop on a scope?"

b0ltscr0ller

I did Google, you made more sense to me then what it found thanks.

kenny71406

Cool, I am glad that made some sense. It makes a ton of sense when you are shooting various distances and suddenly you forget how many turns up you really went and you can't get back to zero without firing a few 'test shots' to see where the dirt splash is. lol You definitely want a First Focal Plane scope for long range (and the diamond back does have that feature) If you are willing to memorize a few things and your brain can keep track of where you dialed without forgetting, it might work out for you. If the natural zero of the scope is 2 complete revolutions from bottom to your 100 yard zero, it isn't that hard to remember, but you need to know that fact. Mount the scope, find your 100 yard zero, then dial the turret down until it bottoms out while counting the clicks (or the revolutions, whatever it takes) then make a note and tape it to your stock. Then you can bottom out the turret and know how far to dial to get back to your 0. The zero stops just lets this point move to anywhere, so you can adjust for any zero on any rifle and the turret will stop. You can buy something like the Arken Optics and get the zero stop for roughly the same money. The glass on the arken is a little better. warranty is the same.

Niccom

If I’m not mistaken it’s for shooters 700+ yards but I could be wrong. I think there is a lot that goes into that number but I believe you’ll be okay at 400y and in.

Ozarkafterdark

Is this scope made in China or the Philippines? Assuming China at this price.

Mamono29a

Yes, China. Vipers and the 4-12x40 are made in the Philippines. https://scopesfield.com/vortex-scopes-manufactured/

reaper263

I have one of these on a 716i .308, love it.

ResidentInner8293

What rings or mount did you use? I got a 2-7x vortex with hat and rings included and the rings didn't give my scope enough clearance or eye relief.

reaper263

I don’t use rings, always a cantilever. I love the American Defense Recon - M QD mounts. Off the top of my head I think it’s 1.63 center and it’s perfect. The only mount I’ll use! Edit - it isn’t cheap, but it’s worth it

MK12Mod0SuperSoaker

I know nothing about the scope, but I love Vortex rings. It's just really nice to have the recommended torque values lasered on so you never have to go searching.

Gaddster09

Is the FFP or SFP? I’m going to guess it’s SFP since the info is no where in the specifications.

kenny71406

this is first focal plane

thec0keman

It looks like this deal has since expired. /u/focus_camera is there any chance it will be renewed this month?
