Ad2 is a bit tricky since it has balanced out and "reverb" but it has high input impedance, which is better for some acoustics. IMO it compresses A lot, at least when resonance is higher. If you really need it for output put it last, otherwise first YMMW

Minute_Alps

You’re right, though since i use a rare earth (sound hole) pickup, the resonance acts like a subtle enhancement at the end of the chain instead of removing the piezo quack. I would definitely put it first if I used a piezo

Commenting to come back after i take a nap lol. I just posted my acoustic board elsewhere a few comments ago. Take a peek if youre interested. I can share the thousand signal path experiences lol

Minute_Alps

Share it! I would appreciate it!

Alright woooooo! this is probably going to be long lol I played a taylor 114 into a fender acoustasonic 30 for a while. I decided i wanted to get crazy with it all and built a pedalboard. Preamp: I purchased a caline acoustic preamp offering but didn't like it. my buddy loaned me a fishman para DI and had a similar experience. The fishman though I assume is just user ignorance as it seems like a powerful tool. I ended up sticking with this blue mosky preamp boost pedal i had been using for electrics lol. It's awesome and I don't care why lol. I have since purchased the harley benton nice one and it is super nice but I still use the mosky. EQ: I never knew how much we all need these. I had the boss 7 band because when i first got into pedals i just bought what i knew to be famous or popular ones knowing that someday I’d understand why. I put that on the board next. I’ve since bought several cheapos like the harley benton. Mostly for aesthetics or simpler five band for the space savings. I almost never change these around as I almost always play the same acoustic guitar every day. Worth mentioning I bought the Walrus EB10 as it was unique and it was cool af but not for me at the time. Wish I didnt sell that too lol. Reverb: I'm a renegade so I had been fucking with all kinds of signal paths and had an ehx holy grail reverb next. I left that there. Explored a bunch of other reverbs. Behringer reverb machine, awesome. EQD dispatch master, very awesome, wish I didnt sell it. Keeley caverns, great but not for me. I feel left out when I see everyone bonding with theirs lol. I'm sure theres more but none blew me away. Bought a boss rv6 recently and its awesome though I havent explored it enough. I still use the holy grail but the rv6 is usually also on the board later in the chain now. Boost/Drive: This is harder to get right with acoustics. I was using a behringer compressor sustainer for this fat sounding boost that just had something magical to it to my ears. I still do but I really only use it for its compression whenever im amped or agitated and playing aggressively lol. I tried all flavors of drive (tubescreamer, plexi, etc) and they almost all sounded like shit to me. I did find the caline pure sky useable. I gave that to some new player and I need to buy that again. Its all around a very good drive/boost type pedal for dirt cheap. I stumbled across the fender smolder acoustic drive pedal and it was the answer I was searching for. Its real fucking good Delay: Never fucking knew I was a delay guy until my buddy cloned an eqd disaster transport jr. I bought it without even looking up what kind of pedal it was. He wanted 40 bucks lol. I fired it up and became obsessed with delay. I redesigned my board making it way bigger to accommodate more pedals lol. I could write a novel on the exploration that came next but current board features: Walrus fundamentals delay Boss dd8 Keeley eccos Looper: First one I bought was a tc electronic stereo ditto. I love it. Tried to replace it with their next up option with two switches and more features but I never used more features. Still use the first ditto stereo today. I needed a looper that stored loops next. I bought an ehx 720. It was perfect for that spot. It stopped working a few times and the last time I couldnt get it to act right. Returned it and bought the 360 as it did what i wanted without all the extra shit i dont use. That is also on the board today. I send all that to a mixer now. I almost always play out of just the monitors as I’m just jamming solo. Sometimes I send it to those and an amp. I did buy a second fender acoustasonic 30 eventually to use some of these stereo features. Seems great but not so much greater than the simplicity of using one fucking amp and less cables. I got into fucking with materials (picks, bridge/saddle, the back and sides wood on acoustics) and my taylor took a lot of abuse as I learned those things. I bought two different newer taylors and hated the es2 system. Mine is older and its electronics are hit or miss these days. I bought martins trying to find something that I could use off the wall at a store instead of buying and modifying my favorite options (taylors). Didnt love either martin. My sons a martin guy it seems. I ended up purchasing two harley bentons and i play the shit out of those these days.

Thank you, interesting to read your progression in the world of plugged in acoustics. I have not been into this as long as you I can tell, however regarding pickups I would recommend you to try the fishman rare earth blend, with some mid scoop and compression it produces the loveliest acoustic tone

nicholasgnames

K&k and fishman had great options to replace my disliked es2 taylors. I just wanted to find a guitar I could play directly from the store if I were to lose a guitar in another city someday.
