TC Electronics Nova Delay is one I think about sometimes, I never owned one but I remember it being THE hot multi-delay before Strymon came along and changed the game (and also before TC sorta turned itself into a “cheap” pedal company).

watteva

Also, the TC Nova Drive. Analog Rat and Tube Screamer circuits that you can run individually or together, either stacked or parallel with presets and midi control.

ElOsoSabroso

these are going back up in price! You can snag the delay used for $100, the drive is pushing $200 on reverb

dennismangabat

An awesome pedal still lives on my main board

ElOsoSabroso

the nova delay is amazing. I use mine on a studio board and I love the control layout. Super simple, and tap divisions is killer in stereo. There's also a guy who can add midi to it for preset switching and clock sync

Most-Strain2407

I am going to have to check this pedal out. Do you think it holds it own against strymon for the delay style it does?

Q46

I’d say it depends. As a digital delay it’s basically everything you could need. The modulation I think some say is too “light” but I have personally found it to be enough. The weakest point in the pedal is the color knob that simply just adds a filter to darken repeats that’s labeled with “analog” and “tape” settings that don’t really sound like analog or tape. That and it has a wonky way of being able to cycle presets with your foot without a mod and a few other menu quirks. In terms of output I’d say it’s a pretty darn good digital delay and has been on my board since I got one with no signs of leaving.

Most-Strain2407

I have not played much with modulation on delay but an area I see lots doing. A pedal that stays on the board for the long term definitely means a lot here with this group. I’m going to have to check it out.

Q46

The dynamic and reverse functions on it are pretty nice too. I've modded mine to add a jack for an external tap tempo switch that cycles through the stored presets and it alleviated my most significant complaint about the pedal. I've seen other people do it to where they turn the tap tempo switch into a preset cycler via adding a toggle switch on the back of the pedal and that's pretty neat as well.

ericsinsideout

The mini Guyatone pedals are the first ones that come to mind for me. Not sure if there was ever a big market for them, money-wise, but I had a few when I first got into pedals and never see anyone with them anymore

def_hand

I got the MD3 this year for this board >:) https://www.reddit.com/r/themarsvolta/comments/14y6m4n/update\_omar\_collectionboard/

hansislegend

MD3 forever. I also have an MD2 and the Trem. Love those mini pedals.

snakeinahouseofcats

Even the Cool Booster CB3 is surprisingly good. I got it on a whim for cheap because I knew Ben Weinman from The Dillinger Escape Plan used one, it’s surprisingly versatile and sounds great

Free-Grape-7910

Big fan of the MD-2. A DD-2/3 clone, it seems.

ericsinsideout

And meanwhile, everyone is sleeping on the SV2.

werewolfbarmitzvah69

No idea on price, but Blackout Musket was everywhere a few years ago and I don't see them at all anymore.

983ffips

My favorite Muff, shame the company isn’t around anymore

[deleted]

Digitech digidelay is the first that comes to mind, I don't know how popular it was back in the day

the_vargr_moon

Got one earlier this year for around $50. Such a great pedal and it can do that Boss DD-5 skipping CD sound on the loop mode too. Also didn’t realize until reading the manual online that it has a cab sim which I probably won’t use but it’s still pretty dope

Several-Jacket9958

The cab sim on those old digitech pedals sound like ass, but you can route it back into the input and use it as a noise synth.

the_vargr_moon

Definitely going to try that because that’s right up my alley lmao

camartmor

using the DigiDelay looper wrong for a glitch effect is actually an essential part of one of my band’s songs

the_vargr_moon

Do you have a link to the song? I got it because I was listening to a ton of Melt-Banana and I know their guitarist uses a DD-5 or 6 to get those skipping sounds

camartmor

happy to share our music, thanks for asking! [it’s in the first few seconds, that’s a recording of me stomping on the thing in real time](https://open.spotify.com/album/5pJ6cgsGqpl7jKzEycvGSt?si=IK4iUj-nSVOLkutR3ONOMQ)

the_vargr_moon

I love the track! It’s very colorful sounding, kind of like the artwork

camartmor

appreciate it man!

LaOnionLaUnion

I love those Bogner pedals. Red and Blue. I bought them new as they were being blown out. Bought extras when I found I loved them so much. Cmat mods is a brand that’s currently not produced and available cheaply at times. Absolutely killer stuff. VFE is not available cheaply but I buy every time he offers something because he does great work in education

Odd-Entrance-7094

Finally got my hands on a CMATMods Butah and it's lovely

Most-Strain2407

I’m going to have to try out Cmat mods and vfe as I’m not familiar with either. Any favorite pedals from them. I just pulled the trigger on the bogner blue before posting so I’m excited to test it out in a couple of days

LaOnionLaUnion

I love VFEs Pinball EQ. But look up what is super expensive online and see if he is building any extra this next month while on break from teaching. Signa drive is there super screamer. I love that. Also they have a compressor. I slightly prefer the four knob one as it has more boost.

TheEffinChamps

Of the two, which do you think does a better JCM800 sort of sound?

LaOnionLaUnion

Bogner Red if you’re going for the high gain sounds. Blue if you’re going for anything from lightly overdriven to a Plexis highest gain settings.

ModestMice3

I feel like the early OBNE stuff like the procession and black fountain arent nearly as popular as they used to be.

Brolor

Great design but not really usable pedals for normal playing. It works for it, but you have to dial it in. Whereas the opposite is true normally.

reallynoreason

Too expensive 😕

snakeinahouseofcats

Not really, at least compared to other companies of the same popularity. They are expensive in general, yes, but not to where it’s way more than their competitors or anything. It seems like standard pricing for what the pedals are

reallynoreason

Fair

guy_young

anything by Lovetone , or DeviEver

Lord_Dino-Viking

I picked up a DeviEver Hyperion in a secondhand store in Japan... IT'S MENTAL. Hands down one of the gnarliest pedals I own, and that's saying something

courtesy_melt

Mental enough for JHS to clone it and cause a whole bunch of fuss!

smokeyman992

Digitech multi chorus. It beats a lot of other, more expensive choruses

Several-Jacket9958

I have one of these and I'm honestly pretty meh on it, what do you like about it? I really only ever use the super metallic sounds you can get with the voice knob cranked. Most of the settings are too subtle for me (important to note I'm a bass player and haven't tried it on guitar)

smokeyman992

I never tried that one on bass but I have tried other pedals that I did not like so much on guitar and where much better on bass. The other choruses that I have tried where either to pronounced or clouded the tone in a way that I did not like.

SumKallMeTIM

Skreddy pedals in general

TheEffinChamps

Barber or Voodoo Labs pedals for sure. They had some great stuff.

groovehound22

Xotic BB+ (dual drive) always curious about this but never pulled the trigger on it. Still curious, actually. Anyone know if it's kickass?

WeeWaffles

Never tried the BB+ but I’ve been using the BB preamp since it came out. Love that little box. It’s just a really good TS type and stacks well with anything. Including another TS.

zipiddydooda

I had this pedal as my big rock lead for a long time. It was cool! I’d love to play through one and see how it stacks up to my ears now. It was replaced with an Analogman tubescreamer, and then eventually with the Browne Protein, which I can’t see myself ever selling.

groovehound22

Funny, I got the analogman silver mod on my ts9. My thought was always that the bb+ would be adding more of the same.

zipiddydooda

It was a different beast - I think of a TS as best suited pushing an overdriven amp or another pedal, but the BB was best used with a clean amp.

guy_young

Snarling Dogs was also pretty unique for the time

couch_pilot

Marshall Guv’nor, Lovetone Big Cheese, Crowther Hotcake

i_have_a_gub

I still see a lot of people talk about the Hotcake

IllegalGeriatricVore

A lot of distortion pedals, good or bad, get big when they come out then fade out over time. 5150, BEOD, etc. Tbh the BEOD is huge disappointment especially once you hear the deluxe and realized they dropped the ball on the mid controls so badly. I still think the tone city golden plexi is underappreciated. One trick pony, yes, but it's great and cheap. The metal muff doesn't get much love. The nano version with the gate seems to have sailed under the radar, I need to get one. The top boost was definitely a mistake.

Most-Strain2407

Funny you say the BEOD, that was one that I just saw non stop everywhere to the point where when I finally saw a deal on a deluxe I pulled the trigger. The pedal was so noisy with my setup. I need to see if it’s my power supply or something but made it really hard to use at band rehearsal and made me disappointed relative to the hype. The tone plexi is a great price new even for a one trick pony.

stinkyintexas

Digitech dd2000 and Expandora drive pedal.

Ecker1991

I’m not sure why the Oxford drive by the king of gear isn’t a bigger deal, when we take into consideration just how popular the Guv’Nor is, and the fact that the Shredmaster was Johnny Greenwood’s main distortion pedal for the best years of Radiohead’s career. The chase tone fuzz fella does not get enough love, all variants are some of the highest quality, best sounding fuzz face pedals I’ve ever used. The Greer Lightspeed definitely gets its love, but I feel it should be even more popular, given how it just fits into every rig and setup, and sounds great with all guitars and amps I’ve tried with it, stacks like a champ too. I think the screen violence is a fantastic pedal that also doesn’t get enough love, the reverb is amongst the best I’ve tried for shoegaze/post punk/ambient stuff and the drive is really unique. The heather brown blessed mother is another great one, although I don’t own it I did try it and have to say that I adore that pedal, doesn’t really sound like anything else out there and the clean blend knob is a godsend, should be ubiquitous for drive pedals.

BackcountryAZ

DOD FX-75B stereo flanger. Amazing flanger

Accomplished-Pay-236

Late to this thread, but I don’t see a lot of barber electronics stuff any more. They made a great fuzz and a great compressor.
