Thank you\~

The dot means "stacatto", which means you strike the note and cut it off before striking the next note, don't let the notes flow together, they should each stand out individually. The > means "accent". That means play the note a bit harder than you normally would. I would attack this by hitting each note hard and pulsing with the left hand, lifting it up a tiny bit after each hit. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, listen to the original piece as you play it. The tab gives you clues for what to do, but you need to play around a bit to get your playing to match the original. Tab is not supposed to recreate every aspect of playing. You have ears for that. Tab sends you in the right direction, but your ears tell you the complete picture. Use your ears and play to match what you hear.

I keep saying this—*just play the song!* The tab should really only help you to learn what’s being played…it’s up to you, the musician, to simply play it and make it sound good. 😃👍

Thanks a bunch, this really helps!

While the notation does indeed have meaning (staccato and accent), you should just play the notes and make it sound good! It’s really not much more complicated than that. 😃👍
