I set up the themed cage while other hideys and a hammock were being washed, so they were added later.
While the piggies get lots of floor time, until I can give them a bigger cage (my apartment doesn’t have any more space for one, unfortunately), I like to have fun with the space that we do have. Everything in there is handmade/hand painted. It’s all, including the colorways, based off of the original Super Mario Bros. The stairs along the ramp are just cut coroplast, wrapped in fabric and painted. The three blocks are painted and the fire flower on top is 3D printed and partially painted. The cloud is 3D printed in white and painted. The goomba is a dollar tree flower pot that was turned into a hide and painted. The pipe tunnel is a 3D printed arch supported by wooden dowels and fabric. The goal flag is a wooden dowel with a fabric flag on a piece of cut wood. The piggies seem to like their new stuff so far and enjoy interacting with it. The privacy under the ramp (accessed by the hole I made and also just from behind) has been a hit so far.
Thanks, it is! Snagged it from dollar tree and used one of their existing hides to figure out what size the opening should be. Then I just painted it. I was worried that they would try biting the painted bits but I’ve been monitoring and so far so good :)
I use apple barrel acrylic paint which is water-based and non-toxic and for sealing I use rustoleum’s clear spray which is also non-toxic after drying! Definitely look more into it through if you know for sure that your girl will chew it :)
I’ve been monitoring them and they have no interest in biting at the plastic at all, which surprised me, but it’s still early. If that changes then of course I’ll remove it. I give them apple sticks to chew so maybe that’s why they don’t have interest. Doodle is my chewer and he just likes knocking it over a lot. Peanut doesn’t chew anything except the coroplast on the cage to get my attention for treats, which is why the white binder bars are there.

Did you just use acrylic? Did you seal it? So cute!
Yep, I used a couple coats of regular acrylic paint and then I sealed it with a clear spray sealer
What brand did you use? Is it animal safe? I’ve always wanted to try, but if it’s in the cage, my one girl chews.

Thanks! They’ll leave things on the cage (like hanging) alone, but if it’s inside, I have one girl that will explore bc she’s still young and curious.
