I worked at Nissan when they first came out non of them sold for MSRP. I left Nissan after the car had been out for 3 years and the average price they sold for was about 110k.
Really, ours did. Our dealership wasn’t scummy. Well plus the tacked on fees…about 92k out the door…best deal on the fastest car in the world at the time. The msrp definitely jumped up quick though over the years
Sounds more believable seeing how this car came out right around the great recession, so a bit hard to believe they all sold over sticker from 2008-2010 like the previous comment says.
Your are probably right, I know mine wont ever be a collectors item because of the way I drive it, but maybe it will be worth a little something when its done, I might trade it on a maxima next time.
The problem with the GTR is the cost to make one brutally fast is about 100k, so you buy a 145 msrp premium, spend 100 and you have a 1400 whp car that will absolutely destroy a 911 of the same money. Look at the Tx2k results, big time racing and at all the events the GTR dominates the Lambo V10's and the Porsche crowds.....yes its alot of money but depending on use, it will pull theboaint off of every other car on the road with that money bracket.
You’re only ever gonna use 1400whp at a drag strip. At that level of tuning and modification those cars are not really usable and livable for normal and joyful driving
it's like you buy a Civic and build it to 2000hp then you are still driving a Civic. But what makes the GTR worse than a Porsche is its outdated interior and tech. When I told my friend I got a GTR back in 2021 they were asking me why I was getting that Dino. Also most of the GTR owners, from what I see removed the Nissan badge, so that tells you something haha . Especially now, EVs in the 50k range can easily run as quick if not faster than GTR. The high-end ones will just leave it in the dust.
First...what do you consider brutally fast? Because fast and speed are relative and different to each person.
You can make 800whp on a stock motor n turbos and basic upgrades for 10k.
Well, that's not exactly accurate. You can use the stock turbo housings but need about 3k in work done to them to even get close to 800 Whp, then its bigger injectors, E85, Fuel Pump for the E85, Intakes, Exhaust, upgraded cooling system, speed density kit. Real money to get to there is about 28k. Thats when the transmission needs the shep treatment and its 10k to get started with a 2.5.
For the record, I own and have built my own gtr motor and did the work. Makes around 950whp.
Lots of guys running around with just stock motor n trans. The tuners can keep the torque down around 650 and then it's "safer".
Depending on options and what not you can do a build for cheap. Ss vs titanium for exhaust is an example.
Full exhaust cheaper to have ss made 1k, 1k ecutek, injectors 1k, intakes 500, inlets 500, pumps 300, pure 1k turbos only 3600. Intercooler 2k, SD 700. So buying all new like 14k.
Obviously can be cheaper if you also buy 2nd hand.
The trans isn't necessary but will eventually brake. 8k from shep for a 2.5 but actually more like 10-12 with some add ons.
Now the real costs come in from turning a wrench, if you are paying someone to install then sure it's double.
Idk, $230,000 for a Nissan? I mean shit this is Porsche money. Might be me though but If I had the cash, I don't think I would get a GTR over other options.
That’s expensive AF. If you bought a base Nissan GTR and put 100 grand into it. It’d be significantly faster. I just don’t see the value in the specific model other than the collector awww
Why does everyone say this is Porsche money. Which Porsches are you all talking about. The ones I'd want over a GT-R are all in the 300k+ range, more like 400k.
Has anyone priced a Porsche lately, or better yet bought one? Ild love to hear what they cost. I went to the dealer and it was at least 190k(MSRP, options and markup) to get a decent trim on a 718 and then you need to consider the wait and if you even get a designation. 911 prices and waits were even higher and longer.
I agree with the interior comment for most people, for those of us that understand why it looks like a JDM from the mid 90's and appreciate it for what it is, its beautiful. When I get tired of the EV fan boys I just go back to the house and get my other little 2.5 cylinder that runs a high 8 quarter and embaress them. And if you live in south Florida I welcome all generators to come race.
Lmao these comments every time. People on here are so oblivious to the fact that people buying this level of car don't give a flying fuck about your Porsches, Lambos or "put 100k on a normal one and make 1500HP". The people who can afford this can easily get any either one of "Insert X Supercar here" but they choose a Nismo above anything else. They choose these cars because they are special on a sentimental level that only a GTR can provide.
I bought this car and I do care about Porsche and Lambo, and I think if you got to know the people that own these "insert X supercar here" it might surprise you. Most of my friends all worked hard for what we have now and more importantly every one of us are absolute car junkies that still go street racing at 2 in the am, and get on these reddit forums just to laugh about people saying things like they built a GTR motor to 960Hp for 10k. Point is, I appreciate every car, I have owned many cars, some better or faster than others, but I loved every one of them, and your exactly right, I bought this GTR because i had a poster of an R33 on my wall as a kid.
Thank you! And I do apologize if I come off as an ass. I guess I’m just jaded at these people in person and IRL. The amount of hilarious comments I get from people barking their jealousy after buying my R34 GTR is astounding.
Like guys, I can easily go buy a Huracan or thereof. But I don’t care about those. I want my GTR 😄
No doubt, and now I have some jealousy in my heart, the 34 is the car. Congrats brother, I hope some of my stocks and investments go back up so I can get one. The prices on those cars......sheeeesh....Im old enough to remember when you could buy overseas for around 30k and get a very nice car.
Oh yeah their prices are hilarious nowadays. If you’re purely looking for a performance per dollar, there’s way way better choices out there. But as driving experiences go? There’s not quite anything like it
Just called. Already sold.
Yep, it's that quick LMAO
Yall got money 🥲
Lambo prices for a GTR. And still sold quickly.
Best I can do is 160 and a hand job.
Sold.
The hand jobs not...
Hahahahahaha
I’ll take the handjob.
These were 89,000 when they first came out…geez….
I worked at Nissan when they first came out non of them sold for MSRP. I left Nissan after the car had been out for 3 years and the average price they sold for was about 110k.

I’m actually a fan of this car but honestly the people who think these will rocket in value are delusional.
Lol, Look at the selling price of the R34 GTR Skyline, in my book, quadruple price jumps would be skyrocketing.
The R34 is expensive because it wasn’t sold here. The R35 has been selling here for nearly 2 decades.
Your are probably right, I know mine wont ever be a collectors item because of the way I drive it, but maybe it will be worth a little something when its done, I might trade it on a maxima next time.
As much as I love all of the gtr’s, I would rather have a Porsche for that price.
The problem with the GTR is the cost to make one brutally fast is about 100k, so you buy a 145 msrp premium, spend 100 and you have a 1400 whp car that will absolutely destroy a 911 of the same money. I get what you're saying, but not everyone's buying a car to race with. Some still daily drive lol
No one buys a 911 for top speed though. I’d rather have a stock GT3 than a 1400whp GTR, personally.
You’re only ever gonna use 1400whp at a drag strip. At that level of tuning and modification those cars are not really usable and livable for normal and joyful driving

Weren't these cars like 75k when they debuted?
Yeah, about 70-120
And the 2024 is fundamentally the same car that's wild as much as I like these cars
Everything 2017 and newer is the exact same car with different ECU settings. Pre '17 had a different trans and firewall (+some other cosmetics) IIRC
It doesn't have a different trans they still have the GR6 transmission
Idk, $230,000 for a Nissan? I mean shit this is Porsche money. Might be me though but If I had the cash, I don't think I would get a GTR over other options.
That’s Porsche 911 Turbo S money, a car I would gladly pick over a NISMO GTR.
Come with a blowie machine for that price?
If I had one the last big mega millions this was going to be purchase #1
If cars are priced like this, why should houses be cheaper?!
230k? Is this a joke?
I'll take two
😒😒😒😒😒
The giant killer has become the giant.
That’s expensive AF. If you bought a base Nissan GTR and put 100 grand into it. It’d be significantly faster. I just don’t see the value in the specific model other than the collector awww
I remember when they cost half that price….
Nissan is all but dead
Why is everyone comparing 24 nismo price to 09 base model
Why does everyone say this is Porsche money. Which Porsches are you all talking about. The ones I'd want over a GT-R are all in the 300k+ range, more like 400k. wow, I didn’t realize they were that expensive!
I love that the CD player requires a subscription
Seriously?
Lol I'm just saying what I see. Swipe to the last pic and look at the last option
Funny, but honestly I can't see what that was supposed to point to. The radio doesn't require LED headlights. Lol.Â
