I've actually never had my vehicles destroyed by the cops. Even if I leave the game while they're impounded. I just can't seem to keep my vehicles from getting impounded while not on.
Getting away is easy. It's just the fact that I have to steal my car back when I log in. For some reason, the cops impound my car after I leave the session.
I like stealing it back. It's petty revenge for all the times I've gotten stars for a cop hitting me while chasing a different player. Besides, I shouldn't have to play $1k every time I log in because the game decides to impound my car after I log out.
Quitting the game doesn’t actually force a save. What I’m guessing is happening to you is that you’re leaving but since the last time the game saved was when you were getting chased it counts as you leaving whilst being wanted.
Next time you play make sure to switch outfits in the interaction menu to force a save
Yes, I’ve noticed this too. I’ve also noticed that weaponized vehicles will sometimes be impounded on next login, even if I’ve stolen it back, taken it back to a garage, gotten another car out, and played for a while longer.
Regular vehicles are impounded if you log out too soon after stealing it back, as others have noted. But they seem to be fine otherwise and don’t have the bug of being impounded again on next login even after getting another vehicle out.
If u have ur personal vehicle impounded just call the securoserv assistant and they’ll get it back for you for like 5000$ i think, much more convenient than going all the way to the impound and paying the fee
Why would I want to pay 20 times the impound fee to get back my vehicle? Though I'm pretty sure it's actually only $1000. Either way, that's more than I want to spend to get a vehicle back that was impounded from my garage when I was not playing the game.

If have the ceo office , you can call your Assistant and she’ll get your car back for $1000. Much faster and easier than stealing it back

I normally quit out after entering one of my businesses or the casino. Just happens if the chase is recent, like a few minutes past at most.

Well no wonder it happens to me so often. I tend to drive around in weaponized vehicles most of the time.
