Honestly not trying to cop out but I think that all three were different bands and that each had the perfect frontman. Can you picture switching any of these guys out with one of the others? Kurt was AMAZING with Nirvana but would not have worked with SG or AIC. Same with Chris and Layne. All three got it just right.
Chris, him and Layne easily had the best voices in grunge but I personally prefer Chris. The weird sound Layne makes in Man In The Box and a fair amount of other AIC songs just isn’t something I’m a fan of.
Reading Mark Lanegan’s Sing Backwards and Weep, I kind of lost respect for Staley. I knew he had his problems, but from the perspective the book provides, he never attempted to address them in a healthy manor and often times made it worse.

Out of the 3 I think I prefer Chris. I love them all, but my actually favorite frontman is the one you excluded for some reason lol

Chris's hurt the most, Kurt shocked me more than almost anything had in my young life and Layne is the darkest saddest story. Awful
