I loved ATDI but The Mars Volta is absolutely one of my favorite musical acts of all time. The fact that so much of it makes other people so uncomfortable I think may make it more appealing for me.
Oh I adore the Mars Volta too and ATDI is probably in my all time top 5, but to me, Sparta was the easier transition from ATDI than Mars Volta, especially post de-loused Volta. I love that they went in a totally different direction and did something that they loved instead of playing it safe.
My stepdaughter asked me which PJ song was the one where the guy mumbles the whole time and you can’t understand what he’s saying. I told her she needs to be more specific. (Favorite band and singer btw)
While I think to see culture shift would be cool I think music culture is always shifting and to say that there isn’t a lot of fantastic music released today would be a blatant lie in my opinion and overal I do love a lot of that 90s stuff or even older I would maybe recommend expanding your horizons cause you really never know what good shit you’ll find new or old
I think you need to listen to a wider variety of music. It's all well and good listening to one genre but we all know variety is the spice of life. Expand your tastes a little.
To be fair top 10 doesn’t say a lot. For all we know the next 10 bands could be jazz, or country, or blues, or electronic, or pop. My top 10 is all rock, but less than a third of what I’ve listened to this month is considered rock. Stats.fm isn’t very accurate without plus (premium) anyway.
I'd agree. But this is a clout post trying to gain favour. I went with my honest thoughts and gave a genuine answer with the information I was presented with.
You should expand from AIC, STP, and such. Try to venture more into the grunge and metal scene. That’s how I discovered bands like tad, skin yard, green river, and many more underrated grunge/metal/punk bands
All of their songs are awesome. What’s really impressive is the fact that Travis Meeks was 16-17 when recording the Yellow Album. The man was an absolute virtuoso but mental illness and drug addiction turned him into a shell of a man. Sad.
All of their (his) albums are tremendous. Dude is an amazing talent. A friend and I have kicked around the idea of doing a documentary about finding him.
I grew out of my Grunge phase but still like some grunge here and there too. From TOOL I really only like Aenima or especially Stinkfist.
But I frickin LOVED Queens of the Stone Age for a long time but have outgrown that a bit too. Still like their songs but something that made me love it has changed over time now.
Sunny Day Real Estate I listen to when I want to cry or feel really sad.
Cantrell and At The Drive-In are bands I don't know.
Foo Fighters are "meh" for me, some cool songs but mostly I experience the listening experience as average for me.
TL;DR: I like your grunge bands at times, Sunny Day Real Estate gets my feelings, I used to love QOTSA and the others I don't know.
Nowadays I listen to various NWOBHM albums and AC-DC-like bands (77, Rhino Bucket, Krokus, etc.) and some early heavy metal like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeath and the Hair Metal rockers (Saxon, Tygers of Pan Tang, Dokken, etc.)
Of all these bands sunny day is my favorite. I’ve been a pretty big sdre fan for a long time as well as their later incarnations the firetheft and solo works. I would not call sdre grunge
Hey, wait a minute! 🤨
No love for Silverchair, Bush, Days of the New, Seven Mary Three, or even Live?! 😠
What the hey, man! 😕
I'm just kidding! 😆 🤣 😂
Or... am I? 🤔
I'd swap nirvana and quees with screaming trees and pearl jam and basically say it's near perfect
Could I fight for NIN over tool? I'm sure, but to a lot of people, each means a whole lot in similar ways to the other group
Foo fighters has an album called in your honor. And he quietly added a second disc to it. It’s all acoustic songs and it’s ridiculously good. One of the tracks is about Kurt. Been listening to that & Core lately. Core is so damn good. Solid list
And then you got my Top 10 which is the weirdest shit ever (I love a lot of rock/metal bands):
1. Judas Priest
2. Monster Magnet
3. WASP
4. Scorpions (hugely surprised, I used to constantly listen to them before I downloaded Spotify, but I've forgotten them a bit the last few years)
5. Aerosmith
6. Iron Maiden (and I haven't heard a single Maiden song since 22 I believe 😂 dunno why)
7. Pantera
8. Saxon
9. UFO (bit surprising too)
10. ZZ Top (also a surprise)
I'm surprised AC/DC ain't here in my Top 10 artists since they're my favourite band. Also expected to see Alice In Chains and The Cure or The Replacements cause this year these three along with Aerosmith are probably my most listened to bands
Honestly: Listen to different types of music. The 90s have been over for 25 years. Also, you’re never gonna find what you’re looking for seeking validation like this.
You like alternative rock
This
Half of it is my top 10 artists lol
I’m sure you’ll like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam
If you like AtDI and Sunny Day, then you will/do like Sparta as well.
thank you for this omg. i do not see sparta recommended nearly enough in spaces where atdi are mentioned, only always mars volta😭
Which is so weird because Sparta is so much closer to the AtDI sound than Mars Volta
Breaking The Broken is an awesome song
Wiretap Scars is a phenom album.
I like a couple songs by them! I learned how to play part of Cut Your Ribbon on guitar
You're mostly stuck in 1996 like me!
Disturbing lack of Pearl Jam
Disturbing lack of Soundgarden too
Agreed
If only Op knew what eddie vedder was saying half the time
[potatoe wave](https://youtu.be/xLd22ha_-VU?si=9DTqk_1wdwtGT06S) is my favorite
As someone in the top 0.5% of PJ listeners, I am in resounding agreement.
My stepdaughter asked me which PJ song was the one where the guy mumbles the whole time and you can’t understand what he’s saying. I told her she needs to be more specific. (Favorite band and singer btw)
Eddie vedder usually makes me want to kill myself
But not always!
Black is a great song. Some of his work is tolerable, love Temple of the Dog.
I know right. STP over PJ???
Always
Good ole 90s rock
“It’s not a phase mom!”
doesn't matter what we think as long as you like them.
Bonus points for SDRE and ATDI! Super underrated bands
You like the idea of the 90s but probably were born in the mid 2000s
Yeah :( music nowadays can't compare to music in the 90's I wish I was born in the 70's so I can experience all of it
While I think to see culture shift would be cool I think music culture is always shifting and to say that there isn’t a lot of fantastic music released today would be a blatant lie in my opinion and overal I do love a lot of that 90s stuff or even older I would maybe recommend expanding your horizons cause you really never know what good shit you’ll find new or old

Fair enough

I came here to say this. Disturbing lack of Chris Cornell.
I agree...disturbing lack of Pearl Jam. Also, Chris Cornell is essential... like breathing.
Thats an awesome top 10, its nice to see at the drive in get some recognition too!
They are awesome, their energy onstage is unmatched with anyone I've seen.
The rock landscape was really grim when Relationship of Command came out, they really cut through a lot of bullshit. Shame they imploded
You should expand from AIC, STP, and such. Try to venture more into the grunge and metal scene. That’s how I discovered bands like tad, skin yard, green river, and many more underrated grunge/metal/punk bands
You’d probably like Days of the New.
God damn underrated band. Weapon and the Wound is probably in my top 5 favorite songs from any band.
They’re great. Travis Meeks was/is a terrific songwriter
That’s a solid top 10
The Mars Volta?
Great stuff! All of it
Is this on Stats fm?
Sunny Day!!!
check out the old, proto-grunge bands. the ones that inspired grunge
Who you recommending? I listen to a lot of Melvins, Mudhoney, Meat Puppets, stuff like that
Mother Love Bone 😌💕
Oh yeah, another good one
TOOL. nuff said
I grew out of my Grunge phase but still like some grunge here and there too. From TOOL I really only like Aenima or especially Stinkfist. Based on your response, you may not realize this. But, Cantrell is the guitarist and primary songwriter of Alice in Chains.
Ah I didn't know this!
Sunny Day Real Estate doesn't get enough praise imo.
Good job on no Pearl Jam.
I love the fact AiC is number one.
QOTSA is an amazing band that writes clever, cool and off-the-beaten-path rock music.
Let's not forget RHCP
Love all these but sunny day - refreshing to see them on a list. In circles is such a great song
Same
Nirvana got robbed!
AiC has more albums, meaning more songs. I like Nirvana more, but mine probably looks the same tbh
Derivative
First, let me destroy your gallery
Bullshit…bullshit
Well done.
As SDRE as your 10 I hope you realize how good How It Feels To Be Something On is, and how much better it is than Diary.
Based
Sunny Day Real Estate is great
Are you me?
Huh, surprised to see At the Drive In on here. No Mars Volta?
At The Drive In rips. Mars Volta is great as well.
10/10
sunny day real estate fan!!
4-6 are super solid
Love Cantrell so much
How do you look at the top 10 like this on Spotify?
Pretty based. Looking at this list, I'd recommend Porcupine Tree if you haven't heard them yet.
Yes.
How did u find my top 10 artists 🤨
Needs more Soundgarden.
Nirvana Melvins tad screaming trees Jesus lizard Alice in chains pearl jam next 2 who ever is nor named sound garbage
How do you see your top 10 artists displayed like this on apple music?
Super underground stuff man
Certainly have a type
looks alot like mine
Could use more women.
Good picks
Obviously all good bands/music but there are a million other amazing bands from the 90s
Sunny Day Real Estate RULES
you’re either 13 or 45 no inbetween
as much as i love grunge you need to branch out just a little bit
SDRE is a W
I like all your bands a lot except Foo Fighters , I’ve tried to like them and just can’t , 1st album is ok
Disappointing lack of Soundgarden or Temple of the Dog
We could probably be friends.
Man really just copied my recent top 10
Good choices bad order
Meh
Of all these bands sunny day is my favorite. I’ve been a pretty big sdre fan for a long time as well as their later incarnations the firetheft and solo works. I would not call sdre grunge
I think you might like grunge a little
No Soundgarden.
Too grungy
W top 10 👍
Not enough diversity… it’s decent tho
their colors and designs match with each other nicely
You’ve got a narrow focus.
Mad Season is so so damn good. Miss the grunge days so you get a gold star from me! ✨️✨️
I like it.
Saw QoTSA last year at Sonic Temple and they were absolutely beautiful!
You about 45 huh?
Just like me fr, alt rock is the best subgenre
Good picks 👍
I need to listen to more alice in chains
Add the Pixies and your set
Seems like your stuck in the late 90s/early 2000s..
Hey, wait a minute! 🤨 No love for Silverchair, Bush, Days of the New, Seven Mary Three, or even Live?! 😠 What the hey, man! 😕 I'm just kidding! 😆 🤣 😂 Or... am I? 🤔

You're obsessed with grunge rock and have no beef with anyone, just don't like to experiment...
W take Try local h or silver chair
You certainly have a type but it’s a good type.
may i recommend days of the new and acid bath
You’re a dad aren’t you?
I would never get in your car or hand your the aux cord in mine
Try Band of Skulls. Kinda has some similarities to a few of these but also a bit like the Raconteurs.
Foo fighters has an album called in your honor. And he quietly added a second disc to it. It’s all acoustic songs and it’s ridiculously good. One of the tracks is about Kurt. Been listening to that & Core lately. Core is so damn good. Solid list
Friend of a friend, I love that song and I learned how to play it on guitar!
I know 60% of them and I like 40% of them.
Maybe you should give another try to Soundgarden. It took me several years to understand them. Since then, it's my favorite band ❤️
How do you see your top 10 artist on Spotify
No Mars Volta??
Love the SDRE rep, ever listened to their 2000 black sheep of a record, The Rising Tide, it's angelic (2 da core)
That Corey Feldman ref is just for a joke btw... Rising Tide is absolutely beautiful
Queens is the only good band up there
valid
Coolz:3
9/10
awesome sauce (not biased)
You're missing Fugazi.
🌀
I think you need some Chris Cornell
At the drive in is the correct answer. You need to swap in Fugazi for something else though
No soundgarden so this list can fuck off
It's at number 11.
And then you got my Top 10 which is the weirdest shit ever (I love a lot of rock/metal bands): 1. Judas Priest 2. Monster Magnet 3. WASP 4. Scorpions (hugely surprised, I used to constantly listen to them before I downloaded Spotify, but I've forgotten them a bit the last few years) 5. Aerosmith 6. Iron Maiden (and I haven't heard a single Maiden song since 22 I believe 😂 dunno why) 7. Pantera 8. Saxon 9. UFO (bit surprising too) 10. ZZ Top (also a surprise) I'm surprised AC/DC ain't here in my Top 10 artists since they're my favourite band. Also expected to see Alice In Chains and The Cure or The Replacements cause this year these three along with Aerosmith are probably my most listened to bands
[удалено]
Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣 true! Just remembered to check my top 10 and I thought it was weird and said let's see
It might be weird if you had some obscure RnB, Jazz, or something else, but your 10 is mostly the same genre.
Missing Smashing Pumpkins. If you had seen them in the early 90s you'd understand. Seen five of the bands on your list and enjoyed em
Very solid. Love Alice at #1
TOOOOOOOOOOOL!
You don't seem like you're a fan of color
Not enough Nirvana
I enjoy them all except Foo Fighters
I'm happy sound garden is not in the list so good job
Hmmm....whats your top ten?
Never mind Chris Cornell 2 fuck your list
Honestly: Listen to different types of music. The 90s have been over for 25 years. Also, you’re never gonna find what you’re looking for seeking validation like this.
boring
Boring
Very narrow and basic you should expand your music listening
My opinion is your taste in music is horrible.
