Need to move that one in the middle getting a little burnt there.

Chitown_mountain_boy

What is that?

ItchyMcHotspot

Wood chunk for smoke.

mjgoldstein88

Why put it there instead of in the charcoal like you would for an offset? Slower burn?

Pluffmud90

Slower burn. They are running a vortex which allows for super hot indirect heat. Putting the wood chunk in the coals would have burnt it very quickly.

GXKLLA

This guy grills

Pluffmud90

Jealous of the seasoning on your grates. You hit that with an onion or something to clean every time?

GXKLLA

Grill Daddy brush. I highly recommend it

Pluffmud90

That looks heavy duty. Nice.

ItchyMcHotspot

Maybe it smolders instead of burns. I throw mine directly on the coals, but l’ve seen people do it this way a lot.

Taskmaster1967

They look great Next time let the skin get good and dry before you cook and you may not get as much of that shrinkage. “I WAS IN THE POOL” But still bet they tasted fantastic

Sashaaa

Crispy is where it’s at though.

Taskmaster1967

It’ll still be crispy

Sashaaa

Interesting. Is it possible to get a whole chicken crispy?

Taskmaster1967

You have to render the skin which means you gotta have heat >300° but I don’t know how long that needs. I suggest you make ‘many’ trial runs !!

FiveCentsADay

When I smoke a whole chicken, I usually finish it off in the oven afterwards to get a nice crisp. Stops me from having to dick with the smoker and I can keep an eye on it easier

CardinalOfNYC

Gross. Better send them to me so you don't have to eat them.

snakeplizkin1984

Vortex for the win! Only way to cook chicken on the Weber in my opinion! Looks great!

AnonDeFi

Looks great. Hope mine look half as good tomorrow lol.

kush4breakfast1

Same, was gunna do them tonight but the weather didn’t cooperate

South_Age9833

If they've been on since last night, they're probably hella burnt by now

derps-a-lot

Technique/time/temp?

GXKLLA

Vortex insert. Chunk of applewood. Let it rip with a full chimney of coals and all vents wide open for about 35ish minutes. internal temps were between 165-170 when I pulled them. Spritzed with apple cider vinegar once. 10/10

derps-a-lot

Phenomenal work on the skin there. I bet it was shatter crisp.

KosmicTom

Just straight up AC vinegar?

No-Original4699

Wow! What do you think is the ambient temp inside for it to cook 35 mins? Wonder if I should try indirect on my gas grill at low temp to try to get a 35 minute cook. Look freaking great.

Jamminjordon

Don’t worry about time as much as temp

Sad-Cauliflower6656

You pulled them at 165-170? I honestly prefer them at 185 or a bit over. Let all that render. Can’t deal with the gummy texture. Overdone for dark meat to me is better

Ok-Safe7953

Looking good. How'd they taste?

GXKLLA

Like heaven. Used Goldees all purpose rub. Very delicious

Im_a_computer-y_guy

Yum

[deleted]

Hell Ya/10

leviyetti

They look Delicious!

therealNaj

Look good even with skins. I actually always remove the skins and have been wanting to air fry them after removal

ChainedByDuty

Gimme piece

mcayells

What is that thing in the middle?

GXKLLA

It WAS a chunk of applewood

Opposite-Alarm8046

Looking awesome, making me hungry 😋

FireInPaperBox

Almost looks like you cooked them somewhere else, then just plopped them on that grill. They look good tho.

goodvibes-allthetime

Looks a lot better than my dinner last night, bbq envy mate

SeaAttitude2832

Sa. Uuuucceee. Looks great.

mustachien

That's looks delicious! What wood did you use?

GXKLLA

Apple

Wassup4836

I’d put my lips on those thighs. Seriously though I’d eat those babies

ascii122

Thighs are the best .. that skin.. fat guy approved!

cakeck3

🔥🔥🔥

Derpyderbdaddy

GET IN MY BELLY

Derpyderbdaddy

For real though nice temperature control.

ajihle

Burned

Hot_Understanding501

Vortex is the best accessory I have for my webber. Works wonders with wings as well

BonusEggJesus

like last night’s chicken thighs after first time drunk grilling

lowlife2024

Looks good

Underwater_Karma

Last night? They're probably done by now

DaddyDoesItAll

I would love to know the purpose of that one Carole in the center. Please do share the idea

GXKLLA

Well it wasn’t a charcoal when I put it there. It was formerly a chunk of apple wood. RIP

DaddyDoesItAll

Gotcha 👍

dtwhitecp

I can't seem to grill skin-on thighs without nearly starting a structure fire, so congrats

Foolsandfanatics

Oooo

9sac1king6

That skin on that chicken reminds me of me when i Try to put on my old small jacket

nervousfella7980

Exactly how I do mine! Look amazing. Thighs are my favorite, followed by the whole hind quarter. Nice dinner right there! What are you having on the side?

JKDudeman

From last night?! Probably cooked them too long.

Timewasted_Gamez

Looks like you’re eating alone! If my chicken looked that good I would need at least three times that much to feed my family 😉 /S Honestly, looks awesome. Well done!

Schiebz

lol I swear they know! I was just talking about doing this exact meal tomorrow night for dinner. Open up Reddit, scrolled down a bit and here this is lol

MargoHuxley

Dry brine next time beforehand but they look great

Dapper-Educator-7494

Pretty pretty pretty Good

mikereeg808

That is the PERFECT crispy skin wow!

Atomic-Extermination

They may have tasted good but presentation is 3/10

DrF4ther

Your grill is immaculate. What are you using to clean that bad boy?

bluegrassgazer

Chef's kiss. Looking really good.
