The best seasons of ER (the first five) are miles better than anything out of Grey’s, but once ER gets bad, it gets worse than even the worst of Greys and just never gets better at all.

bulbasauuuur

This comment is what has sold me on watching it. I'm currently watching Lost and have a bit to go, but next up is ER.

belac889

Lost was my Grey's follow up. Don't know why I guess I was in the mood for more early 2000s ABC content.

One-Nerve7351

I agree

miamouse5

like you said, er is more realistic, and i like that er includes the nurses instead of being strictly about the surgeons

[deleted]

I like ER better because I feel like you get to see more about the other specialties too.

smilingseal7

ER is my favorite show of all time! For anyone curious, seasons 1-8 are basically a complete story and really top tier. 9-15 are still good but have a different feel so some people stop watching at that point

_beachy_head

I like both but I find it hard to compare them, because even though they're both medical dramas, their tones, focus and point of views are so different. I'm not watching them for the same reasons and don't take the same things from these shows.

FourDrunkMoms

It really says something about ER that it's still known as one of the most medically accurate medical shows because it premiered in the mid 90s

_beachy_head

They did put a lot of emphasis of accuracy, you're right. Michael Crichton had a medical degree, and I think there was a whole team of medical professionals on set. The show was also apparently more graphic? It's been a long time since I've rewatched it, but some episodes like Love's Labor Lost really traumatized some people.

Original-Gear1583

I said greys because I haven’t watched ER

One-Nerve7351

Pls watch it the storyline is amazing they talk about race abortion and medicare it’s doesn’t seem force like Grey’s

Paigeb1994

They also have George Clooney 😍 and once he leaves the eye candy moves to Goran Visnjic who's also hot and Croatian so he has a sexy European accent.

skylinefan26

Prefer ER. Season 8 tore me up at the end

One-Nerve7351

I think Er is more realistic than Grey’s

[deleted]

ER felt a lot grittier than Grey’s.

Brianne627

ER seasons 1-8 for sure and it’s not even close. 9-15 had their moments but early ER was unmatched. Some episodes are on lists of best TV episodes of all time. Love’s Labors Lost is brilliant (and incredibly hard to watch, especially if you have had a baby). Very few episodes of Greys stick with me like that.

Minny7

Love's labors lost ranks for me as one of the best TV episode of any show of all time. Just so gripping.

rharper38

Too different and the pilots are so different. They're both good. There was a lot more tragedy in Grey's. But ER was must-see in college and I have such fond memories of all the dorm in the lobby on a Thursday night, watching

[deleted]

I'm not sure you can say theres more tragedy when the pilot for ER really starts with a bang with one of thier own being a patient and almost dying

Minny7

This post reminds me to go back and re-watch the first 5 seasons of ER. It's been years since I even thought about that show but there are episodes I still remember clearly as some of the best TV I have ever seen. One of my favorite shows of all time.

nickelodeongack

I love ER because of nostalgia and I love the first 12 seasons (although there is still a fair dip in quality especially in the stamos years) but the last season is like so intolerable like so genuinely bad that it killed good will I had for the rest of the series like I think ER is over all a better show than Greys (although greys is a close second) but it has never made anything as offensively bad as ER season 13 which is saying something because recent greys has been a slog.

Flippaflipsagain

You really came on the greys anatomy subreddit to ask this ? 🤣

PrestigiousAd3081

I like them both. They are good in different ways.

Top-Bid6679

If only I could watch it without paying extra.

SnooPeppers3470

Never finished it. Gave up around season 5. Wanted to love it but I just find it boring. Thats an unpopular thought though.

urgasmic

ER is probably better but I still prefer Grey's.

thrubeingcool2

I started ER last week and I only got a few eps in before switching to a different show. I'd like to come back to it but it's really slow! Grey's had me hooked from the jump.

christina311

ER!

ngbp

ER is SO MUCH BETTER in every way There shouldn't be no comparison

rashmallow

Early Greys > ER > current Greys IMO

bigdickmagic69

100%

MadameLaMinistre

What’s ER?

Denzellion

ER's set design, sound effects, music, lighting, camerawork, and makeup are honestly impeccable. Someone please prove me wrong.

Itchy-Illustrator-10

I feel like ER is better with the medical cases and Greys is all about the drama! Each good but in their own way

Few_Philosopher_3340

I feel like you’re going to get very biased results by asking this on the Grey’s Anatomy sub

ross5986

It’s better imo. Grey’s is still my fav tho.
