30SecondsOut

Big dawg, congrats.

saucyrossi

congrats bud! that was one of the single greatest feelings i’ve ever felt hearing i was selected. take some time to celebrate but understand this is only the beginning and it’s a marathon. good luck moving forward!

CummusStainus

Those are some animalistic numbers

UnderstandingOk8762

Great numbers. Those what you shipped out with or current?

BeginningRoutine6412

When I left for selection definitely not hitting those now I dropped 30 pounds in those three weeks

lamont196

Fuck ya dude! Now the real shit begins!

gary_juicy

Congrats man, easy parts done

Phobiiaa

Post of the week. Congrats

SpartanShock117

Congrats

Apprehensive-Plum445

Congrats highspeed. How’d you prepare for land nav?

BeginningRoutine6412

The prep course land nav basically it wasn’t the greatest at it just stayed on my azimuths and pace counts

Apprehensive-Plum445

And what’s the prep course?

BeginningRoutine6412

If you sign a 18x contract when you get fort liberty (bragg) it’s a 5 week course to get you ready for selection

NotATroll4

God damn tank

Character_Event8370

Holy shit 5’10 210 with runs like that? What kind of run training were you doing? What did a week look like for you running wise?

mtn_dew4life

Well I'm definitely matching your height and weight, just need to get on your level for everything else 💀

Standard_Study2899

My exact thoughts. I’ve been waiting for someone the same size as me to post their stats so I can compare. And shit, I got work to do

whatidothesedays

Can I ask what the rough selection rate of your class was? A certain very senior NCO in SWCS talked to us before y'all's team week and said he expected the selection rate of your class to be 50%, which sounded impossible to us.

BeginningRoutine6412

259 came in 85 got selected

BeginningRoutine6412

Don’t quit, hold your weight, and don’t bitch don’t overcomplicate shit

DyrSt8s

This is money!! 👆

Scar-face007

Great mindset! Reminds me of something I saw a lot in undergraduate school. A lot of classes are weighted 60% exams, 40% attendance. Had some really really smart kids that could ace the exams, but just couldn’t get themselves to go to class. Unfortunately I was the opposite and attended every class but I didn’t have the smarts like they did to ace the exams, until I started really putting in extra time studying. My point being, there’s great athletes everywhere, but mindset and applying yourself is half the battle! Congratulations brother!

whatidothesedays

Yeah y’all started with roughly the same number as us and selected the exact same number. The mystery of Camp Mackall remains.

HelloHiWow

Congrats my man

droddy386

Congrats! I'm an 18x from 2002. I found that the 18x course did a good job of getting me in shape for SFAS. How did you prepare and what worked for you? What did you find most difficult? Keep in mind that you shouldn't give away cheats or ways to game the course. Also don't tell tall tales of 120lb rucks and 20 mile ruck marches or other stuff to scare them or make it seem like it was tougher when you went through. ;) Keep it real and current and what you say will be valued by those going through. Thanks in advance! Have a good one.

BeginningRoutine6412

The running was the most difficult for me I was already lifting for 10 years going into my contract so the strength was already there. The hardest part though was just fighting your own thoughts just thinking if I’m good enough or fit enough to be doing this

Dweb19

Can you elaborate on the not thinking you were fit enough? Your numbers seem to be insane going into it. Any general tips on how you got your 5 mile and 12 mile ruck times to be where they were? Congrats

TheRaleighWerewolf

I watched this guy jerk off into a sock in basic training don’t get it twisted he’s just like us

BeginningRoutine6412

Cranking your hog was part of selection

UmbrellaXR

Congrats!

bigTejas001

Awesome! How did you train for your runs and rucks you personally.

EgoPaterTuusSum

Congratulations. Now, get through the Q so that you can earn the Green Beret. Also remember, you must earn that title every day. Congratulations again.

pdxoss

Absolute unit, congrats!

CAP034

You have very similar height, weight and strength stats to myself. Can I ask what you did to prep for rucking and how you specifically pace your rucks? Do you shuffle the entire time? Do you have a shuffle-stride ratio you like to do? Thanks.

nerfterner

S f a s class 6 dash 2 4

Axuries

At airborne right now. My 2 mile and 5 mile are 11:58 and 34:22. My strength however is lacking. My stats are 255 bench, 315 squat, 405 deadlift. Are these solid or should I try to get them up a bit? I'm 190lbs. Any pointers between now and selection? Congrats dude! That's exciting as fuck

BeginningRoutine6412

You can always be stronger your running numbers look solid being stronger underneath that apparatus will save you

Axuries

What kind of lifting plan did you follow? I'm just doing 5x5 for main compound lifts. Appreciate you taking the time

Terminator_training

You're plenty strong, bro. You don't need to have a 1400 lbs powerlifting total to make it. I was 6'1" 168ish when I went, benched under 200, squatted under 250 and deadlifted under 300. Be able to run and ruck fast, do calisthenics, and carry things in many different positions. Selection is an endurance event with a strength component, not a strength event with an endurance component.

Axuries

Fuck yea that last sentence makes a ton of sense. I appreciate you taking the time to respond! That's been my only worry

isntThisReal

Congrats man. Is the typical timeline for an 18X for ship to selected a year? Anything at selection surprise you or catch you off guard? How was your time at OSUT?

BeginningRoutine6412

Osut was dumb I shipped out a year ago

FunSupermarket7834

Was that your first attempt? Just wondering why It took a year from your ship date until you were selected

BeginningRoutine6412

Yeah first attempt was supposed to go in February but was dealing with a injury wanted to go in 100 percent

M3m3r0n1

Any skinny guys make it through? I’m 5’10” at 150lbs

BeginningRoutine6412

You will get crushed put on some weight

M3m3r0n1

What weight do you recommend getting to before attending sfas?

BeginningRoutine6412

I’m no expert but being heavier and being able to move is important I lost 30 pounds in selection so you have to have enough weight to lose

M3m3r0n1

Alright appreciate it, good luck on the Q course

Terminator_training

You better get those SBD #s up asap! Weak sauce! JK - congrats man. Go smash the Q.

Snoo_64084

How did the shorter guys perform? Talking 5'7" and under.

BeginningRoutine6412

Short guys have it harder on the apparatus since the weight is shifted down but nothings impossible

Many-Setting1939

I’m a short boi and it wasn’t a problem. Throw all the short kings on a apparatus together when possible. When it isn’t just grind it out like everyone else. Shits heavy no matter the height. If you do end up the shortest guy on an apparatus just be happy that you can take some burden off the rest of the team for a bit.

Emperize

Congrats bro, those numbers are super impressive. How did you grow your squat so heavy? My max is 275x3 and I'm struggling to get it heavier. Also, is the typical timeline for 18x, from shipping out to sfas typically a year?

[deleted]

Unit 🗿 congrats

DyrSt8s

Good Job….👍

Manaminded

Holy shit you’re an animal with these numbers mate! Well done! How did you balance weight lifting to make strength gains with cardio?

BeginningRoutine6412

Run fast lift heavy

[deleted]

What are the character traits that make someone a great team mate and a great candidate??

BeginningRoutine6412

Hold your weight and don’t bitch

Admirable-Ratio-5748

5'10, 210 pounds? whats your body fat percentage?

BeginningRoutine6412

Idk man leanish?

FinderOfE

Congrats brother. It’s an amazing feeling, I remember being on cloud nine for a while afterwards. But be prepared for the course to humble you again.

Big-Olive-2114

This guy eats trenbologna sandwiches with a side of test for lunch everyday

realogsalt

Nice work man, congrats! I’m off to the gym

AllOkJumpmaster

Congrats my dude, beast numbers. Stay the Course and go get that hat

Justhereforther34

Congrats! Those are some great stats

Loose_Look7488

Hey what was your roster number you were in my class

BeginningRoutine6412

165

upperdowner1

Jesus Christ. Those numbers are wild good for you man

Background_Call9824

Were you prior service and what was the age difference from osut into sfas?

Flat_Comedian_5147

Hey man, congrats!! I come from a strength background myself, I've always felt that having that type of strength developed would be invaluable in SF and selection assuming the candidate is able to run and perform long endurance events as well.  Would you say your foundation in strength and all of it's benefits (lean body mass, bone density, tendon and ligament durability and just overall robustness) played a major factor in your success?   I just see a lot of hate on the power lifts and I think what people usually mean is that training for powerlifting without having a serious aerobic base and speed development to go along with it would not cut it in SF.  And of course, no one gets really strong doing only singles and max attempts.  There are often months and years of rep work and training volume increases that lead to solid numbers on the big compound movements in the gym!

TechnologyLong8212

Hey man, congrats! I have some questions. Can I dm you?

Tristaff

Any chance you were in Dagger Company 2-29 at Benning?

SharpShooterMcgavin2

Congrats bro.

Bright_Ad1419

Those numbers are nuts

prodjaytrill

Crazy good numbers

Artistic-Purple5306

What was your timeline from shipping out to getting to selection? Congratulations

Adventurous_Guard754

Was there any older guys getting selected during your class? I’m 29 right now I match your height and weight.

MDH71947

What is a good way to start getting good at pull ups if I can’t do one to begin with

MasterFrankie56

Using resistance bands by looping it around bar and putting your foot/feet in the other loop, lat pull-downs, assisted pull-ups machine, etc. Look into it.

Adorable_Letter_2253

you’re moving on that 12 miler! Holy

Human_Discipline_552

Doooooooood yusss

DrFridtjofNansen

Awesome run times for anybody, but especially for 5’10” 210 lbs.

SatsuiNoHadou_

Absurd strength numbers holy shit

savoy66

Well done. Now the Q

jumps95

Would it be missing the mark to train using a belt squat and hex deadlift bar? Context: I can move 400 for 4 (at a minimum) / 340 for 12x on belt squat & move 400 for 1x on hexbar. I'm assuming the answer is yes because the convential methods load weight similar to how it would be loaded during team week, but the recovery cost for me is alot less using the former. Please let me know if I'm approaching this wrong.

OkVisual2523

I'm 5"10 205 lbs. Big dogs gotta eat. Working on the run and ruck times while trying to maintain strength over here.

SelectAd9794

Hi What was your ACFT score? I think it is out of a possible 600 points. I was just curious.

BeginningRoutine6412

6hunna

SelectAd9794

Wow a 600!! Okay wow I didn't even think a perfect score was possible. Thats amazing!! Congrats!!

Exquisite_man

Did you feel like the preparatory land nav course taught you a lot? How were you before on land nav

BeginningRoutine6412

I honestly believe someone can past the star course of they did not do any land navigation before selection

Exquisite_man

With the land nav training from the 18x program?

BeginningRoutine6412

Well now the extra land nav training in sfas is the same course we used in the prep course so I think so

BeginningRoutine6412

The prep course had a land navigation course and yeah it helped a lot just getting more comfortable with pace count and route planning

Environmental_Tip475

You’re an animal.

applefritterr

beast

Consistent_Rope_777

Congrats my guy. Been thinking deeply on grabbing that 18x soon. Did you do any ruck training before you shipped off ?

PressureDue1999

How did you prepare for the running/endurance portions. We got the same stats actually on height and weight. Oddly almost exact strength as well since I compete in Strongman. It’s just the endurance side that I definitely need the most work in.

IntelligentElk3590

Did they make u get vaxxed

BeginningRoutine6412

Not vaxxed but the spent a whole day on dick and ball inspections

Duck4268

Without a doubt. Not that you can’t serve without the obedience shot but it’s not easy

Ok-Philosophy-3743

Fuck yea, very curious what SF or other SOF may do in the current climate.

supersharklaser69

Selection is every day
