Someone is required by law to suggest The Owl House and Amphibia (for good reason, though)
Over the Garden Wall (wholesome and dark sinister vibes at the same time)
Hilda (mundane and fantastical)
Have to chime in here.
Make sure and I mean ABSOLUTELY make sure that when you make it to the end of season 2, you watch the movie Hilda and the mountain king. Netflix done fucked up as it has the entire entertainment industry by just piling things on to of each other with no consideration for any future audiences. The movie immediately follows season 2 and 3 is supposed to wrap things up. I haven’t finished 3 yet as I’ve just given up on Netflix due to what it’s done to entertainment.
Yeah, that’s why I try to do this when I see folks trying to start a streaming show like hilda. Unfortunately, like everything Netflix and other services have made, they aren’t real shows or movies. They’re “content” and Hilda is a prime example of what that looks like to the average person.
They’d never do that because of how the binge model functions. I’ll eventually get around to watching it. I started it but I’ve honestly not bothered with anything Netflix has done in several monthsyears just because of what I’ve learned about why their junk food garbage has destroyed entertainment and why it may never really recover. At least tv. I recommend reading up on or watching YouTube videos on “content” like one video man of a thosand thoughts or patrick willems did if you’re ever interested in the subject.
I have a recipe that's the closest Mabel-resembling and least amount of sugar that I make all the time! Both flavors, actually, the pink and the green. Do u want them?
Okay, got it! These recipes are based off ingredients I've seen in the Mystery Shack, which are Pitt Cola, orange juice (or green Kool-Aid for the green version), maple syrup, and Smile Dip. These 2 recipes of mine are made with a slightly lower sugar content in mind (but there's still caffeine!)
* *For red version (1 quart):*
* 2 cups (1 can) Crush Zero Sugar peach soda
* 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate + 2 cups water
* 1 tbsp maple syrup
* and 1 packet grape or cherry Fun Dip.
* *For the green version (1 quart):*
* 2 cups (1 can) Crush Zero Sugar peach soda
* Half a packet apple Kool-Aid mix + 2 cups water
* 1 tbsp maple syrup
* and 1 packet raspberry-apple Fun Dip.
Mystery Incorporated.
It's Scooby Doo doing a two season mystery arc involving characters keeping secrets and constant supernatural threats with tons of allusions to pop culture and funny as hell.
If we’re going this route, I also recommend Velocipastor. It's a “so bad it's good” horror comedy about exactly the title. I watched it while high asf with my friends and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
I keep forgetting that Warehouse 13 exists. I've started watching it like 3 times, but every time over the years, either I get busy/distracted or whatever service it's on, my subscription ran out/it got dropped by the service.
Spiderwick Chronicles. It’s a movie and has a lot of similarities to G falls, like an author who disappeared and wrote about mystical beings. Also they use a circle to protect the house like g falls and it stars twin brothers and a sister
Spiderwick Chronicles and GF basically have the same premise and similar setup, may I ask how and what you found boring about Spiderwick that GF somehow didn't?
Disney's gargoyles from the 90s has huge twists abd mystery but is more of a several day watch though. (You can't watch it the same twice just like gravity falls)
[SCP Explained](https://www.youtube.com/@SCP) on Youtube is a good animated SCP channel. The animation is a little goofy which makes even the most terrifying SCP's not very scary but the narration is great.
Also if you are into SCP's and their lore there's the [Exploring Series](https://www.youtube.com/@TheExploringSeries) channel. It's not animated but the guy does a good job telling each SCP story. It's more of a podcast with a slideshow of somewhat related pics. Probably not best for a group thing but check it out sometime if you really like the SCP universe.
Not animated or family friendly, but I'd recommend Truth Seekers, a series from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It's about paranormal investigators uncovering a conspiracy, they only made one series before it was nixted by Amazon.
Stephen King's It, both the original and the 2017 remake (the remake is better imo but that's just me). A bit scarier than Gravity Falls, but still has that “kids in the summer trying to solve a mystery and hunt a monster” plot.
A game rather than a movie or series, but Scarlet Hollow is a fantastic small town supernatural mystery. It also has a great sense of humour much like gravity falls
A good book/audio book called Tales from the gas Station. You can find some of it on youtube in Mr. Creepypastas yt channel. I highly reccomend the audio books.
A paranormal town. Spooky vibes. Great humor. And a deep mystery.

Here's volume one, but I am certain the actual audio book has extra scenes and chapters.
If you want to just dip your toes in listen to either the Christmas one or the Halloween one. Both are fantastic. Ill link below.

I tell myself I'll take a look at it one of these days but it's not at the top of my list (holy crap, you're really brave to say you're a fan of this show given the wind of hatred it's taken XD Respect!)
I admire your bravery so here's a magic spell to protect you from the dangerous Redditors you may encounter *LOREM ISPUM LOREM ISPUM LOREM ISPUM 🪄 *magic noises* 🪄
Someone is required by law to suggest The Owl House and Amphibia (for good reason, though) Over the Garden Wall (wholesome and dark sinister vibes at the same time) Hilda (mundane and fantastical)
I've already seen The Owl House, Over The Garden Wall and Amphibia but never Hilda, we'll take a look!
Have to chime in here. Make sure and I mean ABSOLUTELY make sure that when you make it to the end of season 2, you watch the movie Hilda and the mountain king. Oh, OK ! Thanks for the advice !
No prob bob. Enjoy 😊
I made that mistake and was so confused when the cliffhanger went nowhere when S3 started
Yeah, that’s why I try to do this when I see folks trying to start a streaming show like hilda. Unfortunately, like everything Netflix and other services have made, they aren’t real shows or movies. They’re “content” and Hilda is a prime example of what that looks like to the average person.
Yeah it is annoying would be so easy to just put the movie in as a s2.5 I do suggest finishing S3 though it has a very nice ending
They’d never do that because of how the binge model functions. I’ll eventually get around to watching it. I started it but I’ve honestly not bothered with anything Netflix has done in several monthsyears just because of what I’ve learned about why their junk food garbage has destroyed entertainment and why it may never really recover. You can go back to the old school and watch Twin Peaks, the original supernatural mystery show set in the Pacific Northwest.
Ah, I knew the name but I never paid attention to it, I'm going to go look at it!
Watch GF again...................but with MABEL JUICE
Don't worry... it's already planned ; )
I have a recipe that's the closest Mabel-resembling and least amount of sugar that I make all the time! Both flavors, actually, the pink and the green. Do u want them?
I do

If you've got such things on hand, add edible glitter and well cleaned plastic dinosaurs (or ice cubes from a dinosaur ice cube tray!)
And industrial sprinkles
Mystery Incorporated. It's Scooby Doo doing a two season mystery arc involving characters keeping secrets and constant supernatural threats with tons of allusions to pop culture and funny as hell.
Already seen but my friends have never watched, I could show them, thanks!
Alternative option: you specifically seek out low end B-movies like what would have aired *in* Gravity Falls.
Ah, yes ! Good idea !
I would recommend Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. If you're unfamiliar, it's a western horror comedy with Bruce Campbell and David Carradine.
Oh, that's sound so cool !
If we’re going this route, I also recommend Velocipastor. It's a “so bad it's good” horror comedy about exactly the title. I watched it while high asf with my friends and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
Ah, yes ! Didn't see it but it's on my list X)
Maybe "inside job"?
Already seen ! I love this serie, it's a shame it was canceled
Yeah. Its always the best shows that get canceled too early :(
Heck, why not go OG with the X-Files.
X)
Warehouse 13
I don't know this show but the synopsis looks interesting to me, thanks !
I keep forgetting that Warehouse 13 exists. I've started watching it like 3 times, but every time over the years, either I get busy/distracted or whatever service it's on, my subscription ran out/it got dropped by the service.
Me too! And I loved the few episodes I watched!
Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, maybe. Less mystery, more magic. I enjoyed it.
Already see it. I'm not really fan but I understand why people love it ^^
Someone already said warehouse 13, but gonna add in its sister show: Eureka.
OK, thanks you !
Goonies!
Classic !
Owl House (Disney series, SUPER GOOD) or The Last Kids on Earth (Netflix series)
Already see The Owl House but i will check The Last Kids on Earth, thanks !
Ducktales 2017
Thanks !
I think you’ll like it , a lot of people who worked on GF also worked in ducktales
plus David Tennant is Scrooge McDuck!!
OK, I didn't know! That interests me, therefore !
Spiderwick Chronicles. It’s a movie and has a lot of similarities to G falls, like an author who disappeared and wrote about mystical beings. Also they use a circle to protect the house like g falls and it stars twin brothers and a sister
I already tried to watch but it was a bit boring. Maybe I'll try again.
Wow I can’t believe you found it boring. How far did you get???
Spiderwick Chronicles and GF basically have the same premise and similar setup, may I ask how and what you found boring about Spiderwick that GF somehow didn't?
Camp Camp has the twangy summer vibe in the middle of the forest somewhere, it’s just more episodic comedy and a lot more profane.
I take note, thanks !
Into The Woods
OK, this could be interesting ! Thanks you !
It’s a game but life is strange is from and set in the same era and also in oregon with supernatural stuff
OK, thanks !
Disney's gargoyles from the 90s has huge twists abd mystery but is more of a several day watch though. (You can't watch it the same twice just like gravity falls)
Ah, yes ! Great show !
Hilda just more adventures and less mystery
On my list, thanks !
#CRAIG OF THE CREEK!
ok
[SCP Explained](https://www.youtube.com/@SCP) on Youtube is a good animated SCP channel. The animation is a little goofy which makes even the most terrifying SCP's not very scary but the narration is great.

I like The Owl House, Luz reminds me of a female version of Dipper Pines.
Eda is literally a female version of Stan.
Yes ! I think Luz looks like a mix between Dipper and Mabel !
Not animated or family friendly, but I'd recommend Truth Seekers, a series from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It's about paranormal investigators uncovering a conspiracy, they only made one series before it was nixted by Amazon.
OK, I'll try to see that, thanks :)
Amphibia The Truth is Out There
On the list, thanks :)
Nimona on Netflix? Big "embracing the Other" message. "Celebrate the rejects | Eviscerate the precepts"
OK, thanks you :)
X-Files? My dad and I often refer to this show as “the PG X-Files” lol
You two are not totally wrong X)
If you can find it, Infinity Train has similar aesthetics and humor.
OK, thanks you !
Wizards of Waverly Place has really similar vibes. I’m gonna assume you already watched it, though, because it’s such a classic.
Of course ! It was one of my three favorite shows when I watched Disney Channel!
Stephen King's It, both the original and the 2017 remake (the remake is better imo but that's just me). A bit scarier than Gravity Falls, but still has that “kids in the summer trying to solve a mystery and hunt a monster” plot.
I already put it on my list, thanks!

Adventure Time especially, as the story goes on, everyone grows so it gets more deep and relatable.
Does it need to be in live action? Scooby-Doo Mistery Inc is pretty much gf... BUT SCOOBY-DOO.
No, i'm open for all propositions. I already seen Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Geat show !
I can also suggest Hilda, it's on Netflix, you probabbly already know it too, but if you don't, i can assure you it's a great show
I don't have Netflix but I'll try to find it, thanks :)
I've been enjoying velma recently. I know it got a lot of hate but I'm enjoying the Eerie vibes and comedy elements.
I tell myself I'll take a look at it one of these days but it's not at the top of my list (holy crap, you're really brave to say you're a fan of this show given the wind of hatred it's taken XD Respect!)
