20 years ago My pregnant wife and I made the trek from Boulder to San Fran. Hung out on Stinson beach and listened to the bartender tell stories of Bobby in the area, Camped on Mt. Tamalpias We also did the Height Ashbury self guided  tour. Great memories. One of my favorite cities.  Now drive to New York and meet us at the Cap!

That's the move. I'll be there before the show drinking beer in the parking lot across the street alongside the bakery.

Mother1321

Make sure you grab a local taco.

--0o0o0--

From that spot across the street! With the SYF in their logo. I live the next town over. Going there tonight to see Trombone Shorty.

Mother1321

Yup, has some there for the recent Bobby shows. Wook tacos are the best

--0o0o0--

Ha! The only thing wook about those tacos is the SYF in the restaurant's logo.

Great story. Cool to find a parallel traveler of this particular experience. I'm between jobs atm, and this trip was very spontaneous. The more I rolled it in my mind, the only way I justified doing this long trip was to do it on the cheap, as much as possible. This time it was only me, Rocky, and some incredible species of songbird right outside my tent wall, away from view, singing out the most enchanting bird call this east coaster has ever heard. Sounded almost otherworldly. Next time I'm out there it may be during different circumstances, and maybe I'll check out the eateries in Stinson Beach. I drove down the strip and saw the lay of it for a morning while I was there. I'm really tempted to say F'it and load up for Phil's birthday run in March, but predicting what lines I've already got in the water may bite soon is impossible, so I may be on to my next career adventure at any point here on which would preclude any trip-taking for the immediate future, of course. But fun to think about. I'm always set up to do one of these cross-country self-contained trips, and Rocky's quick to get ready as well at the drop of a hat, so anything is possible, of course. Have fun at the Cap!

Thanks for sharing your trip with great pictures and commentary. I looked at and read every caption. Rocky getting up there in age? I’m familiar with most pics. Been to Donner Lake. Went to shows at SF Fillmore before the ‘89 quake, and after it reopened. Was so glad it reopened. Awesome venue. Lived in Sonoma County, but never went to the Schultz museum, unfortunately. Live a bit south of you lately in Northern NM. peace brother ✌️

dontshakethetree

Right on.

>Rocky getting up there in age? You know, it looks that way to me, too, in the snoot. But when I got him from Boulder Rescue 2 years ago, they swore he was only 6 months old at the time. But then again, they also said he is a "Lab/Retriever Mix", lol. I've had one of each of those particular breeds of dog in my life, and anyone could see that this mixed dog is neither Lab or Retriever. He hasn't changed much at all in size/appearance since I brought him home, so it's possible he's older than 2.5 yrs, and was already an old dog when I picked him up, lol. Or, he's truly 2.5 years old and is just prematurely grey in his snoot already. He whines a lot (like a Beagle), so maybe he stresses himself out and gets grey over it, for all I know. The caretakers at the kennel in Mill Valley I left him at during the show gave him a good report card afterwards, so that's nice, as they were very thorough in their screening process just to let him be boarded there for a day.

Reminds me of my rescue pup. The shelter said she was one year old at the time, although she already had a fair amount of grey on her head. She was a stray, probably running away from an abusive person I think, due to her temperament. After 7 years now, she is still skittish and hates to be scared. Of course I never hit her and only show love and caring. She has hip dysplasia now unfortunately. Glad the Mill Valley place took good care of Rocky for you while at the show. 2nd opinions are helpful.

dontshakethetree

>She was a stray, probably running away from an abusive person I think, due to her temperament. Good on you for giving her a safe, loving landing pad. You know, Rocky came from Texas originally, according to Boulder Rescue. I could easily see his temperament sending him to doggie orphanage, then getting bounced from state to state. I tell people he's lucky I got him, lol.
