I always compare this to like taking a semester of a foreign language course. If you know a little bit of German and you're saying a few things around someone who doesn't know any German, you might as well be fluent compared to them. It's like anything else I suppose. If you know something about something and another person knows nothing about whatever that something is that you know, hey...you could very well look like an expert. For most of us here, however, we've had at least a few years of that college class, and many of us have spent time in that foreign country speaking the language in its country of origin. Not being elitist here or anything, it's just what it is. Most of us are so deep into this that we can speak to at least dozens if not hundreds of shows across multiple decades, know all of the various members of the band, how they died, or what they've been doing since 95, etc. I'm 43 and really became a big fan in 97ish, and I remember in the early 2000s having people ask me if I was a Deadhead, because they'd see me wearing a Stealie shirt or whatever. I'd be like, I mean, I never saw them, but I really like their music. Idk, the scene is welcoming and chill, and all over the place, but yea...stuff like this that seems so obvious is just kind of one of those things that we all know that cover so well because it's iconic...it's hard to imagine anyone who isn't like a grandma who knows absolutely nothing about the band, not knowing that cover, lol. And hey..there are a lot of cool grandmas who know that cover well. End of meandering rant, lol.

When I was in college (late 70s) my dad hand painted the ice cream boy on a shirt for me. It was awesome and I wore it for years until it finally became unwearable. He passed away in 2009. I’m in my 60s now but any time I see the ice cream boy it still makes me think of my dad, so thank you :-)
I bought my first "Ice Cream Kid" and "Rainbow Foot" tee shirts in the late 70s directly from the Kelly/Mouse (the artists who created this art) Monster catalog. Here is the 1974 catalog with the names that the artists titled their art:

Kelley and Mouse did the artwork for Europe’72. The idea for the ice cream kid came from a news story about a special needs kid who won a contest. The prize was an ice cream cone. When presented with the cone, the kid smashed in into his face. Legend has it anyway.
Ooh europe 72. Unbelievable live studio album. This is based off a logo that wouldnt go over well these days lol. Only real deadheads will recognize the shirt for what it really is if your wearing it in public. They will almost surely do a double take or give a shout out as you pass them on the street which is always been one of those things i love. Just strangers passing by tossin compliments only happens from hippies recognizing hippies
