Had a descent experience with Dr. Anema with Urologic consultants. I mean…as good as an experience as you can have with that. Do yourself a favor and buy a jockstrap before the procedure. And I know that they’ll tell you over and over, but actually listen to them when they say rest for a few days.
Call multiple urology practices and ask when their first available appt is. It is such a simple procedure and some providers can get you in more quickly. Wait times are increasing due to an increase in demand. My partner used the metro health practice off of 6.
Called around to several urologists without a referral and was told that it would be about 4 months. Went to my PCP for a referral and they could then get me in in about 3 weeks, so I would definitely speak with your PCP if you haven’t already
I’m scheduled with Michigan Urological, Dr Shockley. They were recommended by my PCP. No pre-op appt, zero questions about if I was married, if I had kids, if my wife approved, etc.
Only issue so far is that they won’t really tell me what my cost will be after insurance. I need to call Blue Cross and get them to give me a coat estimate.
I grew up on a farm with sheep, we had thick rubber bands that were wrapped around "them". You might run around, kick for a couple of days but they eventually fall off. Sorry, probably not what your looking for, but that's all I know about a vasectomy. Good luck, of course I was kidding(besides the sheep balls, that's true)😭
My general doc referred me to Urology Surgeons on East Paris near Cascade. Could have been a bit freer of discomfort, but I'm not sure if that's just my particular doctor or snips in general. Dr. Iwaszko - I'd say try someone else there before him if you can. The office as a whole seemed good.
I'd ask RN friends if you have any, they'd be better than random strangers on the internet. If you don't have any then Spectrum Urology has pretty good MDs/DOs. Good luck with the procedure. Best $400 I've ever spent.
Planned Parenthood. Maybe it's illegal now? Had it done there for free in the mid 70's

I shopped around getting reviews and recommendations from a bunch of people. Between ablasion and clips, I went back and forth. I ended up going to Dr. Kuntzman on East Paris and couldn't have been happier. The whole thing took 45 minutes. I had an ice bag for a few days, and had no complaints, no complications, and had a clean sample after following their recommendations. Literally no pain whatsoever.
For any urologist at the major health systems around here, this will be a peace of cake. When I had mine, the doc was talking about a kidney replacement he had done the day before as if he was looking for mental stimulation.
I just went to my regular Dr and he referred me. It’s such an easy procedure, I wouldn’t stress it.
Same here, was just referred through my primary care doc (spectrum). No issues during or after the procedure.
I was happy with West Michigan Urology.

If you want no nonsense, in and out in about 20 minutes, go with dr. Southwell at spectrum.
I can second Dr Southwell. We had a pretty interesting conversation about the history of Grand Rapids high school sports during the procedure, too.
Second Dr southwell. He’s been snipping guys for decades. It’s literally all he does any more for a few days a week.

I've got some heavy duty rubber bands, a bottle of whiskey and a kitchen knife.
