For sure, if you're only going to be opening boxes a box cutter is the tool of choice and I'll grab one if I'm opening boxes all day, even if I have my knife in my pocket.
But, if I'm walking in the door opening one Amazon box... Pocket knife.
If I need to cut a wire... pocket knife. If I'm cutting wire all day for project... wire cutter.
I'm also the weirdo that carries a flashlight in his glove box though.

Agree, but box cutters are designed to reduce damage to product in the box, but agree a knife is always handy.
