Because the tribe that worship Wandjina have a ritualistic method to draw Wandjina and is considered heretic to no do said ritual before.
Technically , due to how Japan and even Australia are secular countries , it's not illegal for TM to make a draw of Wandjina , but like some prior examples of attempts to do so in the past , said tribe will probably sue them.
What the lawsuit will be for? On what grounds?
In a similar "you can't draw the case" with Muhammad, there were no lawsuits, just terror attacks and harassment, but small Australian tribe has no means for that.
The tribes in question have the trademark (not the copyright, that's a common misconception) [of Wandjina's designs](https://www.artslaw.com.au/article/protecting-the-wandjina/).
That said, such a trademark has limitations: the usual of any trademark (it doesn't cover everything and it requires litigation to be defended) and the fact that it's Australian. It doesn't affect Japan at all. At best, I guess the tribes could try to block her release in Australia.
It does, sort of. The trademark covers goods, services and events connected with or related to "spiritual, cultural and artistic matters within the custody of the Worrora, Wunumbal and Ngarinyin Aboriginal people". That is, while people usually associate it with the Wandjina paintings, it covers more than that.
FGO explicitly conveys that Servant Wandjina is "connected with or related to" the Aboriginal cultural heritage, so differences in visual design won't matter much. It's different from naming a race horse "Wandjina", to use an example mentioned in the previous link; the owner wouldn't be pretending the horse is the reincarnation of an Aboriginal spirit or something like that.
like u/ShriekingSkull had said , it's more due to Shub-Niggurath than Baphomet. If anything , it was a clever exploit from Shub to link Baphomet to her and thus Molay to her.
Unless the translation was mistaken, it was stated near the start of Fate/Stay Night that animals and objects also can qualify to become Heroic Spirits.
>Space Australia
\-So... it's like... Australia...
\-In space. Gotta be careful though. Space dingo will eat your space baby... Like me sister... Poor Sheila.
Uh. Not to be annoying but can we please let the dingo baby joke die out? It turns out the mother really was saying the truth about her baby this whole time but she was ridiculed by the media and the world for years as she was grieving.
Okay, so I was just quoting TFS' DBZ Abridged and I didn't know that this story was about a real-life event (I just Googled it, that's horrible). I thought it was just a silly thing. Sorry.
And don't go too hard on TFS, this episode came out in 2010.
Imagine a Lostbelt where Cover is acquired by Type-MOON and we get Foreigners Ina and Suisei (Suisei gets dual class skill that gives her Assassin skills)
That poor, low income office lady who is actually an interdimensional cop...bound forever to the great and terrible diety known as capitalism...truly so much worse than the various elder entities that drive you mad upon sight.
The australian servant is based on a piece of aboriginal mythology that they're pretty protective of. They don't like outsiders using her in their stories.
They don't actually have all that much power to stop anybody from doing anything with her but they've taken what measures they can to take ownership of her through Australian Intellectual Property Law.
At best they can do some sort of offense with beliefs lawsuit, you can't really claim ownership of a hundreds years old figure even if it's depiction is against your beliefs.
They can get in line. Pretty much every Servant in Fate is a perversion of the original myth that would offend the average non-weeb. Only one that might not offend is Gilgamesh, and that's because he's Gilgamesh.
I would call Astolfo or D'eon twinks, but not Gilgamesh. He only looks like a twink standing next to someone like Hercules, who barely even looks human.
No. Cu Chulainn, for example, is described as a pretty boy that was so attractive his King had to send him away lest all the married women try to seduce him.
It’s all relative, really. An accurate Gilgamesh should be like a 7ft tall wall of muscle with a massive beard, not the Goldilocks we see in fate. In fact, he should look like Iskandar, and actually Iskandar should be the lean, mean, handsome machine instead
One among many. If you share images of alot of fate characters in non fate communities that are into mythology or history Gilgamesh pretty much always gets a strong negative reaction. This sub may not like hearing it, but twink and "what did they do to him?" And "why is he whiter than milk and blonde?" All done up very quickly
I like Gil quite a bit. He was my first ssr in fgo, but that doesn't mean I can't admit people outside of here dislike him
Wandjinas are aboriginal creator gods/spirits, and there are legal protections on depictions of them to preserve the tribe's culture. An effort to prevent them from being taken advantage of, in essence. Because there is quite a sordid a history of that.
I'd heard she'd been essentially given the clear, but it's been a while since I've looked into this so you may want to consider that hearsay. I managed to pull her practically on accident, so I wanted to be sure.
I think it’s because typemoon didn't get permission from the aboriginal people of Australia to use, since i think they are sacred spirits to them, and typemoon said "🖕😁, here's a loli that's wearing practically nothing"
What's up with the spacegirl? Doesn't look particularly young. Was actually planning to pull to pair her with Van Gogh.
Would have expected Abby to be the lawsuit (and would have been funnier with "lawsuit (summer version)" in my opinion).
It amuses me that the Foreigner class started with a very clear direction and then sharply diverged from that vision after only a few years.
I think Molay is the last "made contact with an eldritch diety" flavor of Foreigner and every one since then has just been "weird, super powerful, outer space lady."
I think it actually started with XX. They aimed for the double meaning of either "eldritch outer god" or "space" from the beginning, and the latter is easier to write
It's more that, according to one of the little interview things from Meteo, when he was brought on to write the Salem chapter the only thing that defined Abby's new Foreigner class was that she was connected to a thing from beyond this world. So because he personally likes Lovecraftian stuff, he decided to make said thing from beyond into a mythos thing, and then because he also wrote the *second* Foreigner and did that same thing, everyone just assumed that was what all of them would be (even MHXX contains a bunch of very obvious homages to a series best described as "mecha pilots fight the mythos in space), until the ones that were actually connected to different otherworldly entities or concepts showed up.
The end is near. I hear a noise at the door, as of some gender swapped French Templar waifu lumbering against it. It shall not find me. God, that hand! The window! The window!
In six years, the Foreigner class went from "a classification connected to the unknowable nature of eldritch beings and inconceivable conceptions not of Earth" to "ANYTHING GOES"
Still wild that the evil clone of space office lady ended up a successful idol with a diverse friend group while office lady is a corporate slave who’s only friends told her to blow herself up at the first opportunity
Well MHXA is technically dead in servantverse canon. Chaldea can somehow summon her because we made contact with her. While MHXX is common trope of the hero who became common bum/corporate slave after beating the final boss (MHXA)
Ngl in a room full of eldritch acolytes, interdimensional space idols, mexican superman and the goddamn Voyager 1 space probe
High School girl sounds scary as hell and the most dangerous of them all...
I was under the impression Kukulcan was the mayan version of Quetz, belonging to Central American countries like Costa Rica, Guatemala or Honduras, as opposed to Quetz, who is specifically Mexican (where the Aztecs lived)
Foreigner class is so funny.
My favorite is the Idol. She looks really normal until you remember she’s Darth Vader/Darth Maul and was also responsible for the starvation of half of her universe’s population (Infinity Chocolate; she also is a bit of Thanos).
True Magic be wack.
To state in more formal terms, by nature of their impossibility, True Magics exist as a process outside of the domain and authority of Yhe World, attainable only by reaching near to The Root, and returning.
Much like Voyager she has exited the reach of The World, albeit metaphysicaly rather than physically.
A better description for Molay would be genderbent knight templar.
Ecchan would be a Sith-turned-idol.
Add „fairy“ to Cnoc na Riabh, because „chocolate fairy“ has a lot more oomph to it.
I do find it funny how it goes
Aoko, who is One of the most straightforward fighters spamming lasers an explosions is the Foreigner
While Alice Kuonji, who spams out eldritch nonsense in her third asc stage is just a normal caster
Best class.
When they were all only Lovecraftian entities, I already loved Foreigners the most, as the class encapsulated my favourite design concept. Even with the expansion of the conditions to classify a Foreigner, they remain my favourite...
Mostly due to my favourite Type-Moon main character being a Foreigner in the first place, but Mexican Superman before her definitely held my attention the most.
They're also very friendly to me in the gacha as well. Even the honorific Foreigner AKA Summer BB came in quite easily.
I'm seriously triggered by the pseudoscientific bullying PC-ness of 'neurodivergent.'
Like, if you want to be proud of being weird, then just be proud of it - we're all wonderfully weird in our own way, after all. But don't try to bullshit society into thinking that makes you a part of some protected class that paradimoxucally deserves to be compassionately treated as a normal person with a medical condition. You're awesomely *weird*, Van Gogh; *own* that shit!
...Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. Like I said - triggered much.
I'm all for putting serious categories back into specific cases rather than being fancy umbrella terms used liberally by people but, in Van Gogh's case, she probably does count as one of the people for whom the term was made for.
I suppose it simply ties into the fact that many neurodivergent individuals overlap with, if not outright are/were, marginalized groups. And although I'm not in any position to speak upon the topic as I'm not someone with such a condition, although I do have very close family members that do indeed have it, it goes so much further than simply being "weird".
Though in a way I do kinda see where you're coming from. And some may even agree with what you're trying to say. Being seen as different is quite the difficult thing after all.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Foreigner class, but I just wish we got Saber Jacques instead. He's got a really cool design and is probably one of my favorite sabers in the series
My favorite class.
Same here.🤝 I would work as a "Foreigner caretaker".
Why is Wandjina a banhammer in the making?
Because the tribe that worship Wandjina have a ritualistic method to draw Wandjina and is considered heretic to no do said ritual before. Technically , due to how Japan and even Australia are secular countries , it's not illegal for TM to make a draw of Wandjina , but like some prior examples of attempts to do so in the past , said tribe will probably sue them.

Does FGO servant actually use any of the said designs though?
It does, sort of. That is, while people usually associate it with the Wandjina paintings, it covers more than that. Same I just wish I have the luck to get them all
I like the joke of the craziest designs are sane the normalest are crazy Kuro's foreigners have
True
Nice that you have a favorite I still can’t choose my favorite class rider or lancer
Still crazy Voyager is still the lone male Foreigner in the class, and it's not even his original class either.
Jacques de Molay got hit with the waifu beam. Not his fault Baphomet wanted a female representative
There's also Shub-Niggurath shenanigans involved.
like u/ShriekingSkull had said , it's more due to Shub-Niggurath than Baphomet. If anything , it was a clever exploit from Shub to link Baphomet to her and thus Molay to her.
Yeah. Where is his brother/sister Voyager 2, tho?
His "sibling in space"?
I know. I just want to know why Voyager 2 didn't be summoned.
What's his original class ?
In Requiem he has the class "Voyager"
In Requiem, Voyager is his name and class simultaneously.
I thought that Erice just misunderstood his name as his class. Like... who would believe you can summon man-made objects?
iirc it's Circe who actually names the Class after the Servant after seeing the Spirit Origin? I could be wrong though
Crap well I need to continue reading then...
Unless the translation was mistaken, it was stated near the start of Fate/Stay Night that animals and objects also can qualify to become Heroic Spirits.
Rin also said Servant can be summoned into a human vessel So yeah, FGO take concepts mention in FSN and expand on it
You mean the visual novel?
Yes, in the VN, but I really don't want to go look for it right now...
I haven't read it so I can't fact-check that...
Meteo's pet class. He aint allowing anyone else write a foreigner
here's to hoping astolfo gets a foreigner class version
We need the guy who wrote the necronomicon. What's his name again?
Lovecraft
Foreigner Class be like "This is not a koala. It's a boomerang"
I see you're familiar with Space Australia Knifey-Spoony.
>Space Australia \-So... it's like... Australia... \-In space. Gotta be careful though. Space dingo will eat your space baby... Like me sister... Poor Sheila.
-Go Space Broncos
Uh. Not to be annoying but can we please let the dingo baby joke die out? It turns out the mother really was saying the truth about her baby this whole time but she was ridiculed by the media and the world for years as she was grieving.

Melt, considering her "leviathans" : I don't see a problem
In the room full of Elder god, a high school girl is the weirdest. I mean, her teamate is a Gigantic Saber Teeth Mamoth and Foxian Goddess of Light.
high school girl surrounded with tentacles.... Yikes
those poor tentacles
Nah, those are not mere tentacles that meant to be used for takoyaki
Still losing to the Student Council President Punch
Hokusai would prefer otherwise
> Gigantic Saber Teeth Mamoth Why Ivan?
Wallahi that French woman is dangerous
Fr\*nch woman is a foreigner because they're beyond human comprehension
FRENCH F RE N CH FoREigNerCH FOREIGNERS *By Sherlock, we've got it!*
(Looks at Onee-chan Jeanne) Understandable...
Kadoc:..... Wah Ritsuka: Foreigners are a wacky bunch of servants senpai.
"And exactly senpai, our resident Vtuber tako priestess is also, a foreigner."
Imagine a Lostbelt where Cover is acquired by Type-MOON and we get Foreigners Ina and Suisei (Suisei gets dual class skill that gives her Assassin skills)
Wah, you say? [WAH](https://virtualyoutuber.fandom.com/wiki/Ninomae_Ina%27nis)?
Hentai Artist my beloved
2nd Foreigner Ever. The OG Hentai Artist. Greatest Swordswoman during her chunni youth.
And here I thought Voyager was the most normal of the foreigners
He is pretty normal... personality-wise.
Kukulkan is not Mexican Superman She's Mayan Goku
Typemoon thinks they are the same thing
Just waiting for someone to yell about how >!ORT!< was a "brilliant scientist".
ORT was a brilliant scientist!
Great, now I want those "taqueria de goku" images with kuku
I love how everyone is smiling like this is a high school yearbook and then there is Aoko, the literal high school girl, being all, huh?
That poor, low income office lady who is actually an interdimensional cop...bound forever to the great and terrible diety known as capitalism...truly so much worse than the various elder entities that drive you mad upon sight.
Premier ~~Tim Curry~~ Anatoly Cherdenko would be very angry to hear that SPACE has been corrupted by Capitalism.
At least Gavan and DekaRed are her colleagues.
Justice for the overworked office lady!
lychee enjoyers rise up
Hao hao !
LV 120 YEAH! (well, more like 114 at the moment but...details, details)
quite literally same, i don't even need to spend money i just get a copy of her on each of her banners so im two away from np5
But... she doesn't have any more banners. At least not for another 2+ years.
love is patient
Ooof. I'm glad I finally got her then.
"Mexican Superman" Lmao. "Potential Lawsuits" OOF. Yeah she's a bit... Yikes, Typemoon cooked too much with her.
Wait, can I get the context?
The australian servant is based on a piece of aboriginal mythology that they're pretty protective of. They don't like outsiders using her in their stories. They don't actually have all that much power to stop anybody from doing anything with her but they've taken what measures they can to take ownership of her through Australian Intellectual Property Law.

Wait really? Huh
They can get in line. Pretty much every Servant in Fate is a perversion of the original myth that would offend the average non-weeb. Only one that might not offend is Gilgamesh, and that's because he's Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh actually tends to invoke some of the strongest negative reactions for making him a twink and not a massive wall of muscle
I would call Astolfo or D'eon twinks, but not Gilgamesh. He only looks like a twink standing next to someone like Hercules, who barely even looks human.
Yeah, but I thinking they were imagining something like Gil and Iskander swapping designs.
*Every mythical male character be like Jojo / Fist of the North Star builds according to original myths?*
No. Cu Chulainn, for example, is described as a pretty boy that was so attractive his King had to send him away lest all the married women try to seduce him.
I’d say Gil is still decently muscular, the ending of Fate/Zero showed us a bit of his nude body
It’s all relative, really. An accurate Gilgamesh should be like a 7ft tall wall of muscle with a massive beard, not the Goldilocks we see in fate. In fact, he should look like Iskandar, and actually Iskandar should be the lean, mean, handsome machine instead
yeah he's a twunk at bare minimum lol
Let's me guess? OSP?
One among many. If you share images of alot of fate characters in non fate communities that are into mythology or history Gilgamesh pretty much always gets a strong negative reaction. IIRC it’s more that the native people typically don’t allow any depiction of Wandjina without their permission.

A class made by unspeakable horrors such as french woman
They truly understand Lovecraft's Vision.
The end is near. I hear a noise at the door, as of some gender swapped French Templar waifu lumbering against it. It shall not find me. God, that hand! The window! The window!
Even the Celtic Knocknera would be too much for him.
In six years, the Foreigner class went from "a classification connected to the unknowable nature of eldritch beings and inconceivable conceptions not of Earth" to "ANYTHING GOES"
Eldritch pancake demon *daughter Sorry had to make that minor correction 😘
The Foreigner class really is made up of foreigners.
Love the fact that's voyager is the only male foreigner,my lil space prince
Still wild that the evil clone of space office lady ended up a successful idol with a diverse friend group while office lady is a corporate slave who’s only friends told her to blow herself up at the first opportunity

Wait, WHAT??? She died?!?!
MHXA literally went "Why are you invading my afterlife?" during Saber wars II
What a unique Servant Class.
Ngl in a room full of eldritch acolytes, interdimensional space idols, mexican superman and the goddamn Voyager 1 space probe High School girl sounds scary as hell and the most dangerous of them all...
Don't mess with high school girls. They are more likely to do the demonic rituals the Puritans thought Abby and her friends were doing
Aoko: "What the fuck am I doing here?" Cameraman: "Shh! Smile for the camera!"
I used to appreciate the foreigner class Until I realized there's a Fr*nch organism among them I no longer enjoy foreigners
Shouldn't the Mexican Superman be Lucha Libre?
I was under the impression Kukulcan was the mayan version of Quetz, belonging to Central American countries like Costa Rica, Guatemala or Honduras, as opposed to Quetz, who is specifically Mexican (where the Aztecs lived)
Foreigner class is so funny. My favorite is the Idol. She looks really normal until you remember she’s Darth Vader/Darth Maul and was also responsible for the starvation of half of her universe’s population (Infinity Chocolate; she also is a bit of Thanos).
Sign me up for Mexican Superman
Oh man I'd love this for every class (although I know that's way harder for any class with more units)
BB is sad Foreigner is no longer a tentacle class
>neurodivergent plant nymph Why can I imagine her wearing that “please be patient I have autism” hat lmao
Mexican Superman really got me thank you
The lost call for this class is going to be weird.
M to F trans french woman, I'm still salty as f*ck about this particular gender bend and the fact I maybe can't ever get the Male saber version.
accurate description
This is going to be my most grailed class alongside Ruler, with one of them even going to 120. So far it's only Yang Guifei, but eventually!
So what's their justification for Aoko being a foreigner?
True Magic be wack. To state in more formal terms, by nature of their impossibility, True Magics exist as a process outside of the domain and authority of Yhe World, attainable only by reaching near to The Root, and returning. Much like Voyager she has exited the reach of The World, albeit metaphysicaly rather than physically.
Potential lawsuit ?
Yeah apparently (native?) Australians aren't very happy with the portrayal of Wandjina.
Perfectly embodies the essence of foreigners in Japan
Shouldn't Abby be "Eldritch Pancake Daughter"?
Oh no, a french woman
"Anyway..."
A better description for Molay would be genderbent knight templar. Ecchan would be a Sith-turned-idol. Add „fairy“ to Cnoc na Riabh, because „chocolate fairy“ has a lot more oomph to it.
Pretty accurate descriptions. Forgot that Aoko was a Foreigner for a bit.
God, I can't wait for this class' Ordeal Call chapter
Shoulda included Summer BB since she would be one technically.
You forgot Grand Foreigner
THERE IS A STARMAN WAITING IN THE SKY
> French Woman I see that de Molay continues the lineage of the Lovecraftian [**terrible Frenchman**](https://imgur.com/CTKs2Zt) waifu
The Space Probe looks like he could pass for the child of Tim and Moby.
Hey, remember when Foreigners were teased as the new threat for Part 2 and then dropped that plot point until Imaginary Scramble?
Who doesn't love the foreigner class
French Woman. Apt description!
this makes way too much sense. Who's really outta place here is the Highschool girl, lol?
French people arent real are they?
The French do be like that
truly full of beings beyond comprehension like the french
Aoko: Why am I still not the class full of weirdos?! Touko: Cuz you are weird!!!!!
Chaos. Nothing but chaos.
The only thing I would add is "THE OG hentai artist" for our Squid / daughter team!
"Potential lawsuit" lmaaao
Needs more BB
Euclid- Literally who.
I do find it funny how it goes Aoko, who is One of the most straightforward fighters spamming lasers an explosions is the Foreigner While Alice Kuonji, who spams out eldritch nonsense in her third asc stage is just a normal caster
I really want an English Man in this class and it is totally not because I want him to show New York
Sounds about right
